The Official Free Dining Watch 2007 Thread

sorry to dwell, especailly if this is a repeat question. I am obcessed with this thread though and don't remember seeing it yet. IS there a code out yet for all of us (seems like its just me.....boo hooo) non disney visa card holders for Thursday?

Also, has anyone ever done a split stay between 2 different DW resorts and how do you get luggagge etc from A to B?
You do know that if you do a split stay you'll have to purchase a 2nd set of tickets to qualify for free DDP? Disney will book it as 2 different reservations and you need at least a 1 day base ticket for each reservation to get the free dining package.

What about us folks that didnt buy it?

I guess we'll have to rely on those who did buy it.

I figure the most I'm out with Disney is $200 and if its a hurricane I'm sure they'll be flexible. I can change my flights for $25/person and if the flights can't take off because of the hurricane I think I'll get my money back. So I didn't think it was worth it.

If I book a package with AAA discount today, would it just be a matter of changing the discount from AAA to free dining on Thursday. Do they set aside separate amounts of rooms for different discounts? We still want to go if we can't get free dining. I want to make sure we can still get the discount with AAA.

I agree about the Disney Insurance, not worth it for trip cancelation for sure. The most you are out is $200. Can't see spending $119.90 to save $200.00!

I have had two people have to cancel at the very last minute, one due to cancer, the other due to ice storm. Disney was AWESOME and didn't charge them a thing to reschedule the trips! The air thing worked out as well.

If you are buying air with Disney, which is rarely a good deal but sometimes is!, then I would most certainly get it.

Just food for thought.......(get it, free dining :lmao: ), I have been watching the last two years and when there has been really bad weather during hurricane's does anyone else remember that Disney rebooks (and at least with Jet Blue) and switches vacations without penalty. I remembered last year this was done.

Does anyone else remember this as I am not getting insurance for this very reason?

Yes, you can book a AAA package today and change it to free dining when it comes available...I did that yesterday, as I have a Disney Visa. As I understand it, AAA DOES have its own block of rooms, but I am not 100% sure about that! Good Luck!!!

I'm thinkin' they have their own block of rooms. I had a package for 12 nights 7 day hopper and dining. I really didn't want to pay $1535. for dh me ds 10 & dd 7 so I called and asked Disney if I could split the ressie (kept seeing everyone talking about splitting) and I could do it. Disney gave me 6 nights with 7 day hopper and 6 night dining and then seperate ressie for 6 nights hotel (same hotel), the package did not get the CAA discount but room only did. I called my guy at CAA and told him what I had done and he called and got me another $112.US off with the CAA disount on the room portion of the package too!!! So am very happy get to try the DDP and then we will slum LOL!!! Good Luck to all on Thursday!!!!:cool1:

I totally could be wrong! But I would be surprised that they would cover airfare booked outside a package. The only thing I saw on that brochure was the info on the 2nd page that says it "includes airfares purchased as part of a WDTC package". I couldn't find anything in the fine print, but I could have missed it! :confused3

We decided to go with an outside company so we can buy one policy our cruise and land parts, but for future reference, I'd definitely like to know if its covers airfare not booked thru WD Travel Co.

You can only get a AAA discout on a package IF you book with a AAA TA. You can get a AAA discount on a room only with Disney directly.

My AAA TA said it would cover airfare I bought myself as long as I bought it within something like 48 hours of booking the trip.

I didn't look in the brochure, but this is cut-and-pasted from the online booking process:

Trip Cancellation/Interruption (Up to the total cost of your vacation package. This now includes airfare purchased as part of a Walt Disney Travel Company package, through your travel agent, or on your own.)

Thanks! I see it now! The "this now includes..." makes me think maybe its new. But good to know for future reference! :thumbsup2

Thanks lovesdumbo!!:) Now I know they didn't make a mistake and are going to tell me oh no we can't give you that discount!! :cool1:

Your CM will probably have the code handy. Just in case though, it's ZHQ .

For all those waiting for Thursday morning............

Only 24 more hours and we will be on hold singing those Disney songs credit card in hand, lol. It's gonna be a long day!

GROUP HUG! :grouphug:
Count me in.. I am also Visa-less. I am ready to go on Thursday morning - I know what dates I want, and what resort and what room location I want to request; I know what my second choices are if none of the above works out. I have my ADRs figured out and am ready to book them as soon as I know for sure what dates I will be there. I have researched my airline choices and am going to let Disney book it as part of my package... way out here in the boonies we get such poopy airline prices anyway; no matter how I price it I come out with about the same price as the Disney website so what the heck! Might as well just let them book it and then I have the convenience of the whole thing being done at once and all throught the same source.
So anyhow, I am right here with you. I already told my DH to be prepared - tomorrow at 4:45 AM the alarm will be going off (ack) so I can grab a cup of coffee and hit the phone lines :surfweb: - with as many people as ended up in the phone queues on Monday, I am really hoping to be one of the first in line. 7 AM Disney phone time = 5 AM my time = SNORE... LOL
23.5 more hours!
