*The OFFICIAL February 2012 Thread!*

No, we're actually driving. With a 2 year old and almost 5 year old. :scared1:

Hi Mamasmurf!

Same here; a 2 y.o, a 5 y.o. and we've also got a 13 y.o.
We're coming from CT, so you've got a few hours longer than us.

Are you driving straight through or stopping for a night? We're planning to take 2 days to drive and stop over in Florence, SC. We're going to leave CT about 3 a.m. and hopefully miss all the major traffic in NYC, NJ, then hit D.C. mid-morning and sail through there...

The drive home... now that may be a 2-night stay over......:coffee:

We leave on the 8th...:cool1:

The current plan is to leave around midnight (thursday night/friday morning) so that we can make it through NY/NJ/DC without too much trouble. Hubby wants to get to either Emporia or Rocky Mount Friday night, stay over and drive the rest of the way on Saturday.

We had originally planned to spread it out over 3 days (arriving on Sunday), but decided to try to get there in 2 so we'd have an extra day. :yay:

Anyone wearing matching shirts and colors on their trip?

If so,What do they look like and where did you get them?

Anyone have tips for getting a stubborn DH to wear one? :confused3 I am meeting resistence from hubby...sigh*:guilty:

I wanted to do either matching shirts or theme shirts to go along with my DD's custom dresses (i.e. Captain Hook/Tinkerbell for the Wendy dress or Goofy/Donald for Minnie Mouse Dress..etc..). With all of them saying something about being from Alaska.

Was thinking of making my own with iron-ons, freezer paper stencil, or screen printing.

I am going alone, so I have no one to wear a matching shirt with, but I can help with the DH question. I would use his desire to be a good dad and making DD happy to get him to wear them. Remind him that she will love it if you guys match her, and that the majority of people there will be wearing Disney related clothes so he won't stick out weirdly or anything. And, you may be more likely to get pixie dust from CMs since it will make them notice you easier and make them want to interact with you guys :goodvibes:wizard: Hope these help!

Anyone else nervous about the weather forecast? Tut, tut, looks like rain!

This will be my first trip to FL...when it rains, is it typically all day, or just short bursts of 20 minute downpours?

Do NOT stress about the weather, it is still way too soon to tell,,, and even if it is a rainy day, you're at Disney World, the happiest place on earth :)

I thought about doing the matching shirt thing but my husband would think I was crazy! LOL

There are also 2 gymnastics meets - one at ESPN and one at the Convention Center. It's going to be BUSY!!!

Don't most youth groups stay at the All-Star Resorts? I'm staying at Pop and am just curious and wondering if I need to bring a helmet in case of falling batons. :D

I can't even be mad about your reservations; only mad at myself because it didn't occur to me to check back!! It kind of worked out though; I showed DBF the menu at Narcoosee's and now that's the meal he's looking forward to the most! We are going to California Grill on our first night 2/11, so at least we get a chance to go.

Kind of funny that DBF was griping about all the ADRs I made ("why do we have to plan every meal?? Can't we just go wherever we feel like that day??") and now I'm sure he won't be upset about it at all. I went once in March with no ADRs at all, just walk ins. Never again!!

This is my biggest worry too. I wouldn't be devastated to be stuck down in FL for longer, but don't really want it to happen. I'm just really hoping there is no snow that keeps me from leaving on the 11th as scheduled! :goodvibes

On one hand I'm lucky because hubby's view of planning is - "how about you just do whatever you want vs asking me every 20 seconds ok?" On the other hand if he hates what I pick, I will hear about it. Although after 15+ years of marriage I may not know exactly what he'll want to eat that night, but I absolutely know what he will and won't eat at all. So all I had to do for ADR's was make sure there was at least 1-2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 1 dessert he'd eat on every menu. He has been warned he will be seeing a lot of caesar salads and steak but there's only so much you can do when the menus are so short. I did leave 1 credit unbooked and have told him if at any time he doesn't like something, we can get food at the resort or a counter service later.

Several of our ADR's took me weeks of checking back frequently to snag, and then of course I redid them all several times when I changed plans :rotfl2:

Local news thinks we'll get snow sometime between Valentine's day and President's day. We often have blizzards during that time frame. And that's fine, as long as I'm down there first!

Crossing my fingers there will be no snow until after we're all in Disney first! pixiedust:

So far, it looks like it'll be sunny when I leave from Philly. Cold, but Sunny. I can deal with the cold, I just don't want a stupid storm to keep me from Disney!!

With 8 days to go, I've been checking the 10 day daily as more and more days are available. Not looking too bad, I just hope the rain holds off!

We're in single digits now! Only 9 days left! Woohooooo!

I just checked the 10 day for Boston and they are calling for rain and snow early on our departure day....hopefully that changes! Oh, why did I have to go look????

In the midst of a blizzard here in Colorado. Snow isn't expected to stop until late tomorrow night or Sunday morning. Kids are off of school and I plan on taking them sledding this afternoon.

I pray this doesn't happen on the day we are supposed to leave as all Southwest flights from Denver to Orlando are cancelled today. We still have time though, don't leave until the 25th. Only 22 days left!!!!:banana::banana:

I’m so excited,,,,

And I just can’t hide it…..

I’m about to loose control and I think I like it….

OH YEAH!

:dancer:

I've noticed the event I'm going to - National High School Cheer Competition - isn't listed anywhere. Wonder why.... :confused3

Those dates are February 10th to February 12th. The squads arrive Friday for the most part, and depart on Tuesday.
There are about 15 thousand cheerleaders there!

That's where we've always stayed anytime we've been for Cheer competitions.

There was an option for parents on the Cheer plan to stay at CBR.

They did tell us that if the All-Stars were full, they would put spillover at Pop.
Didn't happen last year, not sure about this year yet.
I'll let you know in one week!!

Even if there are a few Cheer squads there, they locate them in one building. You may never even see them, except at the Food Court at meal times.
