*The OFFICIAL February 2012 Thread!*

Where do they hold the UCA Competition, WDW or Universal. I may want to avoid certain parks on certain days if the park will be loaded with cheerleaders. Nothing against them, just want the shortest ride wait lines as possible.

Any recommendations as to when the parks will be the most full with cheerleaders ???

Does anyone know when the UCA Night at Magic Kingdom is? They don't check in till the 10th so i can't imagine it is that night (that is the night we really don't want them to be there) Anyone know?

Mara

The UCA night at Magic Kingdom was held the Friday of the UCA weekend last year. So I'm guessing it's the same this year: Friday, February 10th, 2012.
It's a separate event with a wrist band, but does count toward a day off our PHP.

Last year there were only a very few rides open for the girls, mostly Tomorrowland rides.

Sunday is definitely at the Studios, but after regular park hours, with a wrist band entrance too.

The UCA competition is held at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
The girls actually compete on Saturday & Sunday (February 11th and 12th, 2012).

There is a special "UCA Night" held at Magic Kingdom which I believe is being held on Friday, the 10th (see previous post :thumbsup2: )
Honestly, last year there were about 1000 people in the park by 10pm. We rode Space Mountain one after the other after the other, no lines at all.

Saturday day is competition for about half the squads, and the other girls usually go to WWofS to watch the competition.
Saturday night is open. Cheerleaders don't have do be anywhere in particular so I can't suggest which parks to avoid that night.

Sunday day is more competition, it ends about 6pm, then the girls get ready for their night at the Studios.
Sunday night is the "private" party at DHS.

Monday and Tuesday are free days for cheerleaders. Last year we did EPCOT on Monday, Downtown Disney on Tuesday morning, flew home Tuesday night.
Some of our team split up and went to AK Tuesday morning, but we're talking about like 10 people, not enough to impact lines.

Hope this helps :cheer2::flower3:

Hi everyone. I haven't completely read this thread, since I'm not POSITIVE we're going. We made our DVC reservation for AKL Feb 16th - 20th while we were IN the world just this past October. Does it seem too soon? We are coming all the way from California!! Are we crazy?

I didn't think this trip was going to happen because the flights were outrageously priced; I'm assuming because it's President's Day weekend. But this weekend Virgin America came out with a great sale that's making it look more possible....(although, we will have to change to coming home the 21st...)

So now my next roadblock are the crowds. Touring Plans shows it basically maxed out. We have a pretty leisurely touring style, and don't feel like we HAVE to do everything in each trip. But crowds show 9 and 10 out of 10 for most days!! Yikes.

Please, let me have it. What do you guys think?

Found great airfare from Tuesday to Tuesday so I'm changing my dates to 2/21-2/28! $850 r/t for all four of us from NY!! :cool1::banana:

Cyber Monday deals on airfare and AP discounts = a Disney getaway from the ice and snow in Feb!!! Short little trip from 2/3-2/7....just enough to thaw a little!!

Alright! its official!! i booked yesterday for our Feb2012 trip!! we arrive at POP on feb1st and depart on feb 5th. it is a WAY shorter trip than we usually do but a few days at disney is better than no days at disney right :) this will be my DD 1st trip and my grandmothers 1st trip since 1982 and we havent told our DS about the trip yet....we plan on telling him on the way. i hope i dont let it slip :)

If anyone is interested in the Wishes Dessert Buffet, they released the February dates yesterday.

Just booked ours!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Really wanted to do a Mardi Gras trip next year but the kids need oral surgery. Have fun guys!! ;);););)

On the dining reservations that require advanced payment (CRT, dessert party) can you still cancel and get a refund? I get nervous getting charged now, especially since I'm not 100% sure we're even going!:rolleyes1

I'm not sure. When I called they told me I had to give them 24 hours cancellation notice so while it seems like that would mean you could get a refund, it could also just be their standard spiel they always give.

What exactly is the dessert party? How much is it? How much time do you get there? Where is it?

The official name is the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party. It is held in the restaurant that never seems to be open that is between Tomorrowland and the castle. It starts about an hour before fireworks are scheduled for that day. Our reservation says for 7:10pm. It is just desserts, desserts and more desserts followed by the fireworks, which you should be able to see from your table. I believe that we prepaid $25 per person.

This will be the first time that we have done the dessert party so I can't really say much more. My DH just heard unlimited desserts and said "Sign us up!" :goodvibes

Here is the official Disney web page...

It's fun! You get all you can eat desserts, when we went last time (in 2010) there were chocolate covered strawberries, brownies, rice krispy treats, cookies, tiramisu, cannolis, etc. They even had some fresh fruit to help keep it healthy...LOL.

There was a photopass photographer to take pics of you and your family with the castle in the background and then you got to stay for the fireworks.

The best part, besides all the yummy desserts, is that fact that you don't have to fight for a good spot to watch the fireworks.

My sister and I will be there from February 4th to the 12th. It will be our first time staying at the AKL! :woohoo:
