The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

ok, i feel stupid for asking this, but how do you make these luggage tags work...

The only stupid question is an unasked one!!

put one end of the loop through the whole on the tag. Then put the other end of the loop through the end you put through the tag, and pull. This should secure the tag to the loop. :goodvibes

DH was laughing at me in July, as I stared at it for a good 45+ minutes trying to figure it out.

Sorry, didn't mean to scare you...it's just really crowded pres week...& I think the weather the economy & life in general has sooo many people in need of some magic, I think it's going to be packed...BUT a "9" or "10" day at my happy place is still better than a day at work!

blah for your week so far....& YEAH on the mail!!

YEAH !!

I'm sure someone will know the answer...but we've taken taxi's before & it;s never been more than $10-15 anywhere on property

How freaking exciting!!!!! I remember the excited over our wedding day (25 yrs ago) & it wasn't even at WDW....:wizard::wizard:

Oh, we won't be there Pres's week. We are there the week of February 7. I did resub to Touring Plans and things didn't change much from what I originally saw. Still wonder why extra Fantasmics were added the week we'll be there. Crowd numbers didn't go up much.

Starting to panic about what types of clothes to pack:confused3:confused3

Was trying to get by with just a carryon?

But I need to start doing my happy dance in the middle of my panic and shout......

I am going to WDW 1 week from today, and staying at the GF:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Okay now that I got that off my chest, back to the panic on packing:confused3

I just unpacked my entire suitcase and repacked it because I was worried about the types of clothes I had packed!!!!!!!!!!!:laundy:

For those of you heading out next week...have you checked the weather? I know things can change in an instant in FL, but :scared1:

Yes, I keep checking every five seconds like an obsessive person :lmao:
I normally use accuweather more than weather.com, they seem to be more accurate to me. They are calling for mostly great weather save 3 days in the week so I am not too worried. We have packed extra shoes and ponchos just in case!

The rain forecast keeps changing too from sunny, to cloudy to rain and back again :rotfl2: I have given up and just decided to wait and really believe any predictions until 2 days before, and even then it might change. Ah yeah... FL

Yeah the weather in FL has been crazy. I checked teh news before bed & it said rain today. Now it says its just going to be cloudy. It changes really quick. For days where we're not sure what its going to be like we dress the kids in pants & a t-shirt. Then if its cold we can put a jacket on them & I always have an extra pair of jean shorts in the van for each kid so if it gets really hot we can change them. I figure this will be my packing plan as well. Pack for both cold/rain & hot days.

So today & tomorrow I am going to start to plan & make a small 'welcome' basket for my 2 oldest & get 1 small gift for the baby. Then since this is Rachel's early birthday trip i'm going to make a birthday basket.

Npierce- I dont know! The luggage tags are a new design!

The weather looks- rainy- yuck. But, plenty of time for it to change. Our crowd levels keep flipping around- one day I get an email telling me its going up, the next day its going down- I give up lol

The weather has me nervous too...not so much the Florida weather....I can take that...but the weather here...I bought the insurance just in case our flights got messed up because of weather...but I'm still nervous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't move our trip a day or two later because of work....:confused3 just nerve wracking....

THEN - my in-laws call last night (it was my bday yesterday so they were calling to say happybd...)...they snowbird in Ft Myers ...my mil says...."do you think dad & I could meet you somewhere for dinner while you're in disney? - we don't want to go to the parks, but we'd love to see you & the girls" - :scared1::eek::scared1::eek: are you KIDDING me? I have every second of this trip planned and NOW you want to meet me for dinner????:confused3 I love them but they know I take my wdw touring very seriously. So, I think I'll tell them they can come on our AK day, it closes by 6 and we can meet them at DTD for dinner (maybe I can get into Wolfgang?), plus the next day (SUnday) was my MK day but it's an EMH night so it's open till 3am....the girls & I were going to not get there till later in the afternoon...this way if they decide to stay overnight we can also have breakfast with them. I checked & they can still get a room at POP for the night, it would be $154, but it's there. Just when I thought I was done!

We are having a tropical heat wave here in Minneapolis I went shopping without a coat. The outside temp was 27 degrees.

yesterday I started my car before my mother got here (she b-sits for me) and she goes "why do you have your car started already, it's not even cold out." So I get in my car and look at the temp -- it's 11 degrees. Lol. Sheesh, it's pretty bad when we start thinking 11 is warm. :scared1: But I'll take it over the 1 -5 degrees we've been having.

Like a PP also said -- if it's 60 in Disney, it will feel like a heatwave after this!

Does anyone know of a quick service place in MK, Epcot, or AK that serves seafood?

Thanks!

Hahaha. I was just looking at my luggage I got from my mom. It still has tags from some anniversary(25th?) and I couldn't for the life of me remember how we got those tags on last time. Thanks for the instructions!

Anybody else wondering what the "souveneer gift" from Planet Hollywood is? I'm thinking cheap plastic trinket but my boyfriend is all excited about it. hehe. I told him he could have it. :rotfl:

I'm so excited for our first trip together. But I am so not ready to go yet. My workplace(I'm manager of a B&B in ME) is falling apart with burst pipes and heat issues. Also I'm in my final semester of college and in order to have no work to do while on vacation i have to be ahead of the game before I leave which is proving harder to do when I'm dealing with workmen all day long!

I still have to go looking for the lime green Mickey's. I did finally get my DIS buttons in the mail though! Yay!!!

this might help find a restaurant:

So I have a question re: how much spending money we'll need. Not that it matters too much b/c everything goes on your room card anyways and we'll have credit cards to pay it, but I'd like to have enough cash at home to cover it. We live paycheck to paycheck so it's not like we have a stash of thousands sitting around to pay it off. I need to put some away each week to cover it. Anyways, here are the facts:

-2 adults, 2 kids (3 & 7)
-have free DDP (1 QS and 1 CS and 1 snack/day)
-8 nights
-2 days will be spent at Universal so will have to pay for food while there
-staying in ASMU family suite and ordering food delivery ahead of time so will have plenty of breakfast foods as well as snacks to bring to the parks.
-kids each have $100 Disney g.c. for souvenirs. I'm sure they will choose to buy "fun" stuff with their $$. I'll probably end up springing for any t-shirts or sweatshirts.

We obviously need to add in tips for the 7 table service meals we're having. But half of those meals are buffets so you don't pay full tip (20%) on those, right? The most expensive meal will be CRT which will come to like $200+. The rest are buffets or average meals which are probably in the $75 - $125 range. I will just assume all table service meals total will come to approx. $1,000.

So does anyone have ANY clue how much we would need? I don't even know where to begin to figure it out. :confused3

When we go we almost always have the dining plan (1TS, 1CS & 1 sn)...and I budget $100 per day for "extras". My kids always have their own spending money in the $100-150 range. But I buy the ears & the t-shirt - & I confess, I have a bit of an antenna topper obsession.....so I tend to buy bunches of those, & oh yea I'm a scrapbooker, so I buy that too...& we like the sovie popcorn buckets & the dining plan doesn't cover those...My $100 per day covers our tips & extras. So I think if you add in the costs of your TS meals maybe you'd need $160 -$175 per day? I'm leaning on the more side I think, I'm not sure how much those 2 UA days will cost...but then you'll have those CS & snack credits to use another day at Disney.

We leave February 7 and while I would never put any stock in a 15 day forecast, I am pretty excited that right now the first three days of our trip are showing low 80's (and one day with rain). Of course, DH will think that's too warm, but DD16 will be thrilled. She's a real "shorts and flip flops" kind of girl! It was so cold when we were there last February and we didn't get a chance to swim at all so some warm days to fit in a little swimming would be nice. Of course, totally screws up my touring plan because I didn't allot for swimming time. And now Touring Plans upped the crowd level of another day we're there so I'm basically to the point of "whatever"! DD and I would love to start packing this weekend, but I kind of want to hold out until next weekend when I might be able to count on the weather forecast a bit more. On the other hand, I suppose regardless of the weather forecast I'll want to toss in a couple pairs of shorts so maybe there is some stuff I could start packing.

Yeah, pay no mind to the weather right now, yesterday it was claiming it would be sunny, sunny, sunny save but 3 or so days with maybe some showers, that was accuweather. Then the weather channel was spelling doom and gloom at the same time... today they seemed to have flipped their stances on the whole weather debate. :lmao: Weather channel is claiming sorta sunny skies, and accuweather is all rain, all the time. :surfweb: I am over it, whatever it is that morning, it will be!

My best friend and her DH want to do one day of park touring, we are gifting them one day park hoppers as a surprise, since they are coming all the way from Spain just for us. We are going in Feb 3, it has MK EMH... but I know she would LOVE Wishes... should I just leave the MK EMH and go with Epcot instead for the very beginning, then do HS (we have an ADR for SciFi Dine In), AK and finally end the day at MK instead?

Any input? :confused3 I know crowds tend to be lighter at this time and if we finish AK early we can hop on over to MK and hit some headliners and must sees before the parade and fireworks. They don't do rollercoasters, so it frees us touring time :thumbsup2
