The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

FWIW, we have taken a number of early-mid February trips to WDW, and I have never once seen any Brazilian (or any other) tour groups. Now the cheerleaders, on the other hand... :headache:

At least the cheerleaders dont pretend to not know english. We tried being helpful to some of the Brazillian kids when we were there in July (offered to take their group picture, ect and got blank stares). I can deal with cheerleaders. :thumbsup2

Congrats to all the new Feb people. I am so excited for the trip. I finally made it through a week with not messing with the ADR's. I think they are set in stone now. :lmao:

Most of them don't know English. It isn't like they live in the US and pretend not to understand. (We live in Texas and get that all the time). I married a Brasilian and have family that have studied English in Brasil for years, they still can't speak it. Reading is a little easier. I have read that the groups can be pretty obnoxious and that is a pity.

Thank you for trying to be nice. pixie dust for youpixiedust:

PS. Also am a retired cheer mom and know that they can be a little ( okay alot) overbearing. :cheer2: We all love our kids, but shouldn't expect other people to love them.

They mean well, and they're just being teenage girls. It's just hard to handle all that perkiness at the crack of dawn when you haven't had much coffee yet. But I'll take them over rude and obnoxious tour groups any day!

Miss talking to all y'all... I managed to catch a horrid, horrid cold, and have been in bed since Friday night. At work now, but I really don't remember driving here. I'm going to try and hang in here for a few hours then go home and get some rest. Have meet-the-teacher-night tonight, and don't want to miss that. Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Hey All!
We'll be in WDW from 2/11-2/18. Staying at Pop and celebrating our first anniversary as well as Valentine Day. :lovestruc

so, in an effort to keep the excitement going....... I'm now obsessing over what to buy the kids for Xmas presents that could be used on the trip (stuff that I'd probably buy anyways for the trip, thus killing 2 birds with 1 stone). So far I have:

DS (7.5)
-Small rolling suitcase
-Hidden Mickey Guide
-Disney PJs
-Coloring/art stuff for plane ride
-Disney journal/notebook (loves journals. has about a million of them for every trip we go on)
-Disney pins & lanyard
-Disney flashlight/light up spinny thing (what are those called? I tried searching online, lol)

DD (3.5)
-Small Rolling suitcase
-Disney PJs
-Cinderella dress/accessories (for CRT dinner)
-Disney custom outfits
-Coloring/art stuff for plane ride
-Disney flashlight/light up toy

So people have already started asking what they can get the kids for Christmas and I am trying to think of things they can use on vacation, because like Lamb said, people don't always like to buy kids gift cards. So far my best friend thought of disney water bottles they can bring to the parks :thumbsup2. Any other ideas?

Wow Lamb, your list is way more impressive that mine lol

-Hidden Mickey Guide - what an awesome idea!! I think my 11 yo and 8 yo would both love that! I didn't even know such a thing existed. Thanks :thumbsup2

I am also a big fan of killing two birds with one stone :) And another awesome thing I just realized, I bought a bunch of stocking stuffer games on clearance at Target last year to occupy the kids in the car on our way to Disney (we were gong to go in December) but now I am almost done shopping for stocking stuffers already :thumbsup2

Now we all just have to think happy thoughts that DH really does go back to work this week *thinking happy thoughts....thinking happy thoughts....*

YES!! Delta comes through again! Got an airfare alert this morning on my way to work -- was SO afraid that by the time I got here, got logged into my bank and transferred funds from the Disney account to my main account, and got into Delta, that the seats would be gone... but fate was with me, and I got it!! :cool1:

$191 RT each, which is WAY better than the $300+ each that I have been seeing all day every day for months. Thanks for nothing yet again, Southwest! Even with the baggage fees, it's still far better than every fare I have been getting yet, so I'm happy.

Just had to share my joy this morning! :goodvibes

Saving 100 pp is great!

So I have been looking up crafts and think the kids are going to make eachother Christmas gifts with a vacation theme. A travel game book, autograph books, coloring/print out books and for the 11 year old, tie dye Mickey's. Hope they aren't too hard, she is better at artsy stuff than I am :rolleyes1

Off to price lanyards for the kids. With DH getting a part time job AND returning to his full time job this week I am full of enthusiasm (the two giant cups of coffee help too  )

I think i saw them on the disneystore.com before.

So, this is WAY OT but..... I registered for the Bone Marrow registry like 100 years ago (ok, like 20-something years) and they just contacted me as being a potential match. I am FREAKING out! They just had me fill out a health questionnaire so far; I think they will either ask for a DNA sample (cheek) or to get a physical next.

What a generous thing for you to be doing!! That's amazing to think that you could save someone's life!

Hey, is there a Stacey Osborn in this group? Someone by that name asked to join the FB group, but their page is completely blank and I have no clue who they are. :confused3

And I am soooo glad I got that alert and jumped on that airfare this morning... Went back to the Delta site to check, and the cheapest is now $343 per person.

welcome new members

CONGRATS GINA! Still waiting for our flights to drop- SO mad- continental has non stop roundtrip for $164 a person for January..... hoping February prices will drop soon so I can book and get super excited again!

Thanks I'll check the website!

Awesome Gina! I'm not even looking because with my luck it'll be cheaper.

COME ON FLIGHTS! So I found a SW flight from Columbus (about 2 hrs south of us) round trip, no stops for $175 including taxes- no baggage fees. Not sure if I should book it or keep waiting for the flights out of Cleveland to come down. I am a bit nervous driving from Cleveland to Columbus in the middle of February (snow storm possible)...........

Also- has anyone dealt with Harmony Barber Shop? I really want to get my soon to be 2yo's first hair cut there and I know they started taking reservations- not sure if I should book them, or just try to walk in when we have some free time.
