I was rooting for Jessie Buckley so I'm very happy. I've liked her ever since she was a radiant Miranda to Roger Allam's Prospero in "The Tempest" at Shakespeare's Globe. (No, I didn't see it in person. I did see a play at the Globe once, but this one I saw on their streaming service.)

I can’t believe they actually got done early

My onscreen and web TV listings say that it was only supposed to go to 7:32 PDT. So about 10-15 minutes long.

They started an hour earlier. And they still went over by about 14 minutes. But, it's weird that it's ending so early. Usually it's close to midnight when it ends and it feels it.

Like I said, the play is available on the Globe's streaming service. You can buy plays individually or get a subscription. Allam is amazing as Prospero, of course.

not doing a performance of each of the nominated songs probably cut some time. it also seemed like they trimmed allot of the traditional banter between the host and the major nominees (not going to complain about that ). i also noticed that despite the academy website saying it would-they did not incorporate any highlights from the governors awards (just a quick mention by the president) and not so much as a mention of the science and technical award winners (they've always offered up at least meager congratulations in the past).

I liked the format of the in memorium-did'nt have the camera cutting back and forth between a singer/musician and the screen. I did not care for the Barbara Streisand portion.
