The Emmys are on MONDAY nite this year. :headache:

Do these celebs think we all have nannies who can watch the kids while we party on a week night? :snooty: :confused3 Especially while everyone is still adjusting to the back to school routine? I hope you can attend.

This is a NO SPELLING POLICE THREAD!
The Spelling Police will be off duty and possibly slurring their own typing by the end of the evening. Typos & illegibility allowed! :woohoo: :drinking: :drinking1 And if your posts are still making sense by hour 3, you aren't sloshed enough.
Or, we are as toasted as you are!

:lmao:

Let's have another fun evening! party: :jumping1: :rainbow: :welcome:

:teacher: A little heads up for newbies: The Red Carpet segment goes really quickly on this thread. People are typing like crazy all at the same time, posting about the different dresses.

If you post something or ask a question and it seems to get ignored, :( you are NOT being ignored. Everyone is just watching, typing & posting so quickly before the dress goes off the screen. We do most of the reading, scrolling back & posting back to each others' comments during the COMMERCIALS! :surfweb: Your posts will get a response then. :hyper2:

Once the show starts, it slows down to a more comfortable pace. Just hang in with us! It's going to be a great evening. :hyper2: :lmao:  :sad2: :thumbsup2

I’m going to try to make it, but the Monday night is really throwing me! Do we know why they changed it to a Monday?

I found this in People Magazine:

"Breaking tradition of being held on a Sunday, the 2018 Emmy Awards are taking place on a Monday evening — but why? The answer: football.

“The Monday night move is to avoid conflict with Sunday Night Football, which broadcaster NBC also boasts on its schedule this fall,” Variety reports.

The Monday change is the first time in four years that the awards show has shifted from a Sunday.

Not only will the scheduling change allow football fans to watch both the game and the Emmys, but it could increase viewership for the awards.

“The last time the network aired the awards show on a Monday it saw 15.6 million average total viewers, which marked the second-highest-rated broadcast in the past five years,” according to Variety."

Thanks for the invite! I will be here!
Can't wait for the fashion.

I figured it was probably due to the football game. However, tonight is also Monday Night Football. But I guess that doesn't matter because it's on ESPN? I'll be switching back and forth between the two, especially since my team (Seahawks) are playing!

Fingers and Toes crossed that This Is Us wins everything that they are nominated for!!!! esp Sterllng and Gerald!!!!

Unfortunately I won't be able to watch along with you guys since it's on tonight.
So I'll be with you in spirit, hoping for some hot mess dresses, rooting for everything The Americans, against everything Game of Thrones, and scratching my head over
"Outstanding Television Movie
Fahrenheit 451"

The Emmys are on NBC this Year. Previous years, it was on CBS. NBC probably took it over on purpose to NOT have it compete across from their Sunday Night Football. :headache: They probably don't care that it's across from ESPN. They don't seem to understand, if one is a football fan, that will probably take priority over anything else on.

I won't be watching, but I will be checking in.

I suspect a lot of people won't be able to watch. And the Red Carpet will be the lowest turn out ever for E! and for our party. :headache: :( It's the best part of the awards shows. But, people will be running around, still doing stuff.

The Emmys usually rotate around the 4 networks and this year it's on NBC. Due to Football Night in America they had to move it.

Ill be watching although I set it up on the dvr and start watching maybe an hour into everything so I'm always behind.

That's okay. We can pretty much figure out what part you are up to watching. And if you follow along the thread as you watch, it may give a heads up as to which dresses or speeches to watch out for. :thumbsup2

I never realized it naturally rotates. I always thought it had to do with who put in the highest bid to televise it that year. It makes sense, as it's the TV awards show that they'd give the major networks each an opportunity to host them.

Yeah I thought it was interesting. I looked it up yesterday to see why it wasn't on! lol

I will hang around here for awhile, but will be skipping the show. I am normally in bed by the time the show starts!

TMZ just reported that Les Moonves, (former head of CBS & recently fired over Me Too sexual harassment allegations,) has NOT been invited to the Emmys by CBS, even though he oversaw about 19 of the shows nominated tonight. (Each network gets a certain number of tickets to hand out as they please.) It also has been pointed out that he never attended them anyway.
