The OFFICIAL December 2014 - Christmas Magic

Has anyone ever done Splitsville before? Thoughts? My sister LOVES bowling (she is even on a bowling team) and I am thinking one eveining we may reserve a lane at Splitsville since we can take a boat from OKW to Downtown Disney.

Hello all! Please be kind to this first timer! I just booked our resort (AofA, hopefully LK suite) for our family's very first WDW trip ever (as well as our first family vaca that won't include trips to extended families!) on 12/9-12/15!! Super duper excited! My DD5 will turn 6 while we are there on the 11th and DD10 will turn 11 two weeks prior to our trip so we'll celebrate her as well. So it's me, DH, DD10, DD5, DS3. I made a request this morning to join the FB group. I tried to read through this thread but the anticipation got the better of me around page 25 and had to jump to the end and join in the discussion!

I've already made our ADR's. Didn't get BOG or an early bfast at Tusker House so wondering what the chances are of those opening up prior to our trip? We are also adding in the MVMCP! DH wants to look into BBB for at least our bday girl but I don't see us getting out of letting DD10 getting dolled up as well. I have an Excel spreadsheet in process with all of my plans -- park hours, ADR & locations, must-get snacks, options for QS meals, special notes & items to bring that I gleaned from reading posts on DISBoards. Yep, I'm a planner!

So, I'm excited to join in the discussions and open to any advice you seasoned veterans have for this newbie! I've been reading a little on the boards here, checked out **************.net as well as allears some. Think I'm finally grasping the new language that is Disney and wrapping my head around this whole new world.

Thanks for opening up a thread for Dec. '14 visits!

:goofy: You guys are going to have such a great time! What a wonderful place to have a birthday.

Has anyone priced rental cars yet? I'm hoping that prices come down soon because right now a minivan is ridiculous!

Other than FP+, I still need to reserve rental car. I will probably go through Costco, I can usually get a deal through them. :thumbsup2

How fun! Your family is going to have a blast! Your kids will get special recognition for their birthdays, just make sure to grab birthday buttons as well as 1st visit when you check in! We're doing BBB for the first time this trip and I am so excited for my DD who is 4. As far as dinner at BOG I'd just check as often as possible, you never know what's going to open up. Are you doing Hollywood n Vine at HS? We're trying it for the first time but how can you go wrong with Sophia and Jake?!

Beyond thrilled for my first holiday visit to WDW: staying at Wilderness Lodge December 12-15! :santa:

Hi Melinda? It looks by your vacation time lines and being an AP holder that you go to WDW quite a bit? pixiedust:

Lucky you, I have a feeling we could get tips from you? :wave2:

Well I sort of have this Disney OCD... It started out planning the October 2014 trip (which I started in January I think) and then I got too excited so I planned a May 2014 trip. And then I got too excited again so I planned an August 2014 trip... and then I saw all those beautiful pictures of the resorts at the holidays... (rabbit hole). So if there is anything anyone wants me to check out on my trip in two weeks, let me know! Mostly I'm just happy I found a place where everyone accepts my Disney obsession and doesn't make fun of it (and even asks questions and wants advice!) :lovestruc

Hi there - wow what a great thread! We are planning our December trip and will be there from 12/17-12/23. We went week of Thanksgiving 2 years ago into first week of December- we had the best time and being there to celebrate the holidays was amazing!! This was kind of spur of moment decision but with FD it was so worth it- my girls are both disney crazy like their mother here, lol and they were beyond excited. My oldest lives in Pensacola and is currently doing her research for her master's degree. My youngest will be a senior in high school- we had planned to visit her anyway over Christmas but decided to surprise her- just hoping she can get coverage for the week she is away as her research requires 2 daily trips to lab- she feels confident though all will work out. Just bought our airfare yesterday on SW- prices were good and just didn't want to wait risking chance they will go up. So all is coming together. So excited to go back.

Is there a facebook page for December Disers? I just joined and would love to be apart of it!:cool1:

There is. I'm at work so I can't pull up facebook to give you the direct link. You may be able to find it by searching for Magical Disney Christmas 2014.

I'm so excited for my December trip! I will be there 11/30-12/7, not only am I excited to check out all the amazing Christmas things Disney has to offer, but I'm also spending my birthday in Disney! I've got an ADR to have my birthday lunch at CRT, so I'm going to get to be a birthday princess! I was originally planning to do this for my birthday last year, but time got away from me, so I decided to wait an extra year so that I could plan it right.

...as odd as it sounds, the one thing I think I'm most looking forward to, is FINALLY getting to ride Dumbo! It's a long story that has made me the butt of many family jokes, but basically, I've been to Disney twice in my life, when I went as a little kid, my dad kept putting it off until the last day, when it ended up being closed due to a thunder storm. I finally got to go back 2 years ago, but it was during the part of the expansion where it was closed :sad2: This is my year though, I can feel it. At 29 years old, I'm finally going to live my lifelong dream. :dumbo:

You should totally ride Dumbo on your birthday after your CRT lunch!!!

We love riding on Dumbo, especially at night - caught the fireworks one time while riding - try to get on then!

I have the same thing with Expedition Everest - was so excited to go on the first time we went and it was so hot I ended up with heat stroke and didn't get on... the second time I discovered 2 months before leaving for Disney that I was pregnant and so couldn't go on that time either - fyi, I don't recommend Disney + pregnant + heat of late summer/early fall lol

Princess - I absolutely plan on taking my first ride on my actual birthday. It's going to be hard to hold off considering I get there Sunday and my birthday is on Wednesday, but I think we'll just try to stay away from MK for the first few days, we're going Wednesday for my birthday, then Thursday night for the Christmas party.

Jewels - Thanks for the tip of riding during the fireworks, that sounds amazing! Are you still waiting for your opportunity to get on Expedition Everest? I'm so glad there is someone else that feels my pain! My family and my boyfriend think it's funny. As far as your pregnancy tip, thanks for that too! My mom has already passed along the horrors of summer pregnancy, I gave her a pretty rough go of things when she was pregnant with me as it was, dealing with it in the summer made it even worse for her! As far as Disney goes, I already don't want to go in the heat of summer WITHOUT being pregnant, I can't imagine how much worse that makes it!

Be Gentle....

So this is my first post here and my first time ever going to any Disney anything. We're going to Disneyworld for 5 days in December (15-20). We're meeting MIL, SIL and BIL there (they are Americans - DH, DD(4) and I are Canadian) - we haven't seen them in 9 years.

MIL has booked us into SOG (FIL is retired Navy) and will be getting us the military discount park passes. That's all I know. None of them have been to Disneyworld in 20+ years and DH was last at Disneyland 10+ years ago so we know we're in for a huge change.

We are very excited for our first December trip! We are DVC members. This will be a short trip (our shortest) December 19-23. I wanted to be home Christmas Eve for our annual family fondue feast. We are staying at Boardwalk for the first time and are excited to be close to Epcot!pixiedust:

Welcome!! You'll have a blast! That was the week we went last year. This year we are going a bit earlier. Either way, the parks during Christmas time are extra special. :goodvibes
