just looked at the BJ website, even though we do not have a BJ in our state,
it maybe worth the $45 membership to get more then half off the car rental.
plus when we are down in orlando we can shop there.
I wonder if Costco has a good rate like BJ code. we are costco members.

Does anybody rent a car for one day? I was thinking, if it was reasonable, to get a car from MCO, go grocery shopping and such, and then head to WDW and drop our car off there. Has anybody done this? What kind of rate am I looking at? Maybe I'd be better off keeping it for a week?

We rent a car for 1 day! Dec. 12-13 for $29.26. We take ME to the resort then have the CCC pick us up. We go to the grocery store and the outlet malls. The next morning we drive to another resort for breakfast & will check out different resorts before taking the car back to the CCC. We don't use a car sevice w/ a grocery stop b/c it would take us longer than 30 min. (especially in a store we are not familiar w/) & we have to hit the Character Outlet stores!

THe best I got was using the Orlando Magic Card with Dollar for my dates of 12/4-12/15 for $276. Anyone do any better?

I much rather go with Budget, but those rates have to come down!

Very interesting! My dates are 3rd - 15th and with the Orlando Magic card, it was running higher.

I'm thinking that is base rate without all the lovely 'mandatory charges' ??

You could be right. All the extra taxes and charges seem to add 25-40% to the cost.

I usually watch Alamo for this. In the past they have done $10 per day rentals - weekends only. We pick up the car either at the WDW Car care center or the Dolphin and return that night. We do this when we are on-site and need to get to SeaWorld.

Wow! Then I would jump on that!

I would love that rate for my trip in December for 11 days; I switched up again and got Alamo for $243 using Costco coupons.

as stated in post #68 here, my 9 day wild card base rate is $126.46 w/$187.09 full price (intermediate same price) seemed really low, so i called Thrifty to ask if the additional driver was included (booked with the OCVB corp code)...NOPE only on standard & up. This would bring the price back to what i have with National, darn it.

I did post another more general thread to see if those who frequent Thrifty would have any ideas/codes how to garner the additional driver waiver.

My Alamo rates hadn't dropped for a few weeks, but I decided to check again tonight. They dropped over $100 for my rental period of 12/1-12/9. I cancelled my previous reservation for $275 and now have one for $168 for a compact.

I got my Orlando Magicard yesterday, and decided to see if I could lower my Thrifty rate from $204, flying in and out of Sanford.

Can you tell me what codes you are using? Our rental period is 12/1-12/8 and I can't get the rate to drop from $237 for a compact. It has been at that rate for weeks. I am using Costco and the $20 Alamo coupon.
