Just finished watching the Billboard awards, he's coming into his own as a performer. Really nice to see. Anyone else think this show went the way of the MTV awards? Sadly didn't feel it was as family friendly as I would expect of Billboard.

Other than that, Clay's performance was wonderful.

My daughter, who is 9 years old, loves Clay. We watched the show specifically because he was on it. I felt uneasy watching the show when Triumph the dog came on, and then when those trashy girls came on and used the "f" word, we just turned off the tv. I did tape the rest, and we fastforwarded to the part with Clay singing and winning his award. I thought he did a wonderful job!

I was too busy watching Trista and Ryan's wedding and The Billboards were just too trashy. My sister saved the day and gave me one frantic phone call reminding me to watch her "husband" because he was about to be singing and I should support my "brother-in-law." He did great though. He's just such a cutie!

from what i understand...it's all in good natured fun...reportedly, clay had his face buried in his hands and was laughing through her intros...i didn't find her intro "trashy" per say...i think she was trying to put the "gay" thing they were saying with that dumb dog aside. i found it humerous...

i tihnk that the censors were off on the part with nicole and paris where the obcenity popped out. if you noticed, the censor thing came up but it was a smidge early. i think things were just out of whack for a bit there.

the one thing i have to say that irritates the living daylights out of me...when artists, who find it necessary to scream into a microphone for their songs, (what's his name with the foo fighters) insist on cracking on artists who can actually SING. i thought the britney spears jokes were funny, but that's cuz i don't think she can sing all that well. and she does lip sync 99% of the time. but when they crack on someone like clay...who has an obvious talent...it just bugs the ever living crap out of me...

i actually enjoyed the whole show, well, except for the dog anyway. it was the first award show that my husband watched and seemed to slightly enjoy...

clay looked wonderful and sounded wonderful, as usual. you could hear that he was a little on the sickly side though. but he did an awesome job...and i was thrilled that he won an award!

good point. But it kind of reminded me about that "commercial" clay did with Carmen during AI-the clairol herbal essance thing. I hated that. I guess I'm kind of old fashioned. I usaully think Kathy is funny, but I guess I didn't last night. Maybe I'm overprotected of Clay's squeaky clean image. We NEED more idols like Clay in this world.

First time I've ever watched Billboards show. I'll agree, it was very "MTV-ish" both with the way the performers dressed and "acted".

I kindof "cringed" at some of the Clay poking. But, I think he was the celeb that was mentioned most during the show (kind of a backhanded compliment.) I only heard one reference to Rub (that Clay/Rub gay thing.)

Clay is doing well, 2 awards (American Music & Billboard), a dbl platinum album, best selling single. Not to shabby!! I can just hear his intro on the next Am Idol show (I'm sure he'll be brought back at least once for a performance.)

Also, I saw the new preview/commercial for the new AI. They really "hype" Clay, but no mention of Rub....

Speaking of Ruben, has anyone heard his new CD? I listened to it over the web and really wasn't all that excited about it. A few good songs. I think Ruben has a better voice then the songs he was given to sing. He is a super guy and I wish him lots of success, however, he needs to be a little more choosey of his songs for his next cd.

I saw that commercial too for the new American Idol. No mention of Ruben- I found that strange. Clay was spotlighted. Haven't heard Ruben's new CD yet, saw his appearance on the AI Christmas special. His duet was okay.

The only thing good about this show is that Clay was there(a class act!) I think Triumph is seeing his last days. No one in the audience was even laughing, finally!

Triumph the dog needs to be neutered. That's his shtick, though...making fun of celebrities, etc. You can bet that a person is popular if he's making fun of them. I did love the response Ryan had..."I'll take all the gay jokes in stride...but by the way, I'M not the one with my hand up a dog's ***!!" I laughed pretty hard at that.

I think they oughta do a photo shoot where Raleigh gets to lift his leg on Triumph. *sigh* But even though it's funny, it's trashy, and Clay wouldn't go for it...ah well. I'll just content myself with laughing at the mental image.

Kathy Griffin was making up for making gay references of her own towards Clay in the past...she went a little overboard, but it was kind of funny. I felt sorry for Clay sitting there with his MOTHER and having to hear all this - someone should have clued him in as to the "flavor" of the awards show beforehand.

this man was giving a description of everyone at the parade and he kind of layed in to Clay about not being friendly during the shoot - I tried to set him straight about the bronchitis - but I think if some more Clay fans put some input in - we would set him straight!
