The Official Clay Aiken Discussion Thread

Showday is FINALLY here!!

Mary, I hope you're driving safe...rumor has it the weather coming home isn't going to be too pleasant.

I would have liked to have given you guys a little wave, but I have NO IDEA where our seats are. I know, I know - I'm shocked too. We were in Disney World when they went on sale, and I depended on her to get me good tickets - she didn't do what I asked her to. :rotfl: I know they're in the 20's, but I'm not sure of the exact section.

I'm still crossing my fingers that they'll release better ones...they have to be really good though, otherwise I can't just leave her and her mom behind. I already told her, though, that if the first five rows come available, I'll see her tomorrow in work...lol

Hope you, Kim, and your DH have fun!!

Kylene, enjoy the show!! I wish I could be there with you, but this year's Christmas tour is a no-go for me. Hopefully next year!

I'm going to see Clay!!!:woohoo: 5 of my girlfriends & I just bought tickets to Spamalot the 1st w/end in April!! This will be my first time :flower3: seeing him in person!! I'm not sure where the seats are cause my friend got them, but I know they are in the Orchastra!!

If you'd like to get your first look at Clay as Sir Robin, follow the link:http://www.broadwayworld.com/viewcolumn.cfm?colid=24359

Page Six also has another one of him from the show, but I can't bring the photos actually over here. *sigh*

Oh well...enjoy!:)

Must...refrain...from...choking...chicken...comment.... :lmao:
We were in Raleigh this past weekend to see Barry M. perform...or not perform, as the case may be, since the "tremendous snowfall" cancelled the show that night and the night before. (Do you have a snowglobe handy? Shake that, and you'll see that's about as much snow as they really got...grrrrr).

Anyway...went to see a touring company perform "Dreamgirls", since my friend's cousin lives in Raleigh and got free tickets from her company - one of Clay's former backup singers played Effie! So not only was Clay not in his own town when I was there - he was here in NYC! (Any one of you who knows me, knows that this is the norm!) Quiana was fabulous as Effie - I was so glad I went.

But that's as close as I got to Clay...or Barry! :rotfl:

I will get to see Spamalot sooner or later - it IS right down the block, after all!

My dd, dh and I are going to see Spamalot on Feb. 9th for dd 18th birthday! We will be sitting in Orchestra center row B 101-103. Hopefully, dd will get picked to win the chicken and go on stage. We have friends who went to the matinee yesterday and reported back the Clay did a great job -- they both laughed so hard that their sides literally hurt.

Hope those that are close enough, get the chance to see him!

BTW - Quiana is not a "former" backup singer for Clay, she is always a part of his touring family. Also, apparently the first Saturday of her 2 week run in Dreamgirls, Clay actually was there. He blogged that she did a fabulous job. Too bad you weren't there then!

Have fun at Spamalot. The way my luck runs...I'll get there the night that he has bronchitis and has his understudy take over! :rotfl:

Hey, anyone know what section of Raleigh Clay comes from? We'll be heading back to Raleigh in a couple of months for the rescheduled "Blizzard of '08" show. Maybe we'll drive around and actually SEE something, besides Wal-Mart, this time!

From what I've heard his big new house is in Chapel Hill. He's made sure that his people and others who know him keep the address quiet. I've only managed to see him once in the last two years. That was at a Japanese Steakhouse in Brier Creek.

2be...

We were staying in Cary - at the Embassy Suites. Nice place. We're headed back and since we're re-paying for things, we're staying closer to the arena and using points (God, I love earning points and staying for free!)...I want to say a Hampton Inn?

Any insight as to whether or not that's a decent place?

Thanks. :)

I'm not familiar with it..but if you tell me which street it's on I can do a drive by and check it out for you.

I live 2 miles from the Embassy Suites. If the show is at the RBC Center any of the hotels around here will be convenient to the arena. There's a new Hilton on Aviation that's very nice!

The address is 111 Hampton Woods Lane (not very helpful, I know). Directions say exit 290 off I-40...it's on Highway 54.

We went to a great Italian restaurant - Biaggi's - have you been? The butternut squash ravioli was out of this world!

I'll have to take a drive up 54 and see if I can find that one.

I love Biaggi's!!! My husband and I go there often. The farfalle alfredo is my guilty pleasure :) If you have extra time when you're here let me know and we can plan a mini DIS Meet ;)

Cool - I'll let you know what's going on. We'll be there the end of March.

Weeeeeeeeee!! A new CD!!! Wonder how long it'll be until we see it...

Thanks for that update!

Just popping in to announce....

Clay's new cd is scheduled for release on MAY 6, 2008!!

It's available for pre-order at Amazon already. Plus, that's just two days after he leaves Spamalot, so we'll probably get pretty good promo for this one!

BTW, Mary, how was the show? I'm going next Saturday...did you guys go to the stage door before or after the show?

Hi Kylene;

Yes, we had a blast at Spamalot - so much so that we "might" be there next Saturday. Are you going to the matinee or evening performance. My DH is going to be out of town, which means us girls can play :goodvibes

As long as the weather cooperates, we plan on going in for the matinee and doing the standing room only at the back of the orchestra. The theater is small enough that you still can see really well.

Here are a couple of shots I took the day we went in.
