The Official Clay Aiken Discussion Thread

Wishing everyone the best of luck with today's presales!! I'll be rushing home right after work today to see if there are any presale tickets left (I'm doubtful). If not, hoping that my birthday magic (I love that term, Kylene!) will come through!

:guilty:

The stupid Ticketmaster presale didn't come up for NYC. I've had nervous breakdowns as fast I could refresh the page since 9:55 this morning, and nothing came up. :confused3

Someone at the fan club reported that they spoke to someone at Ticketmaster, and the presale has been rescheduled for TOMORROW (Friday) for fan club members.

Not sure how many NYC ticket buyers we have, but I count myself as one of them. If it's any consolation to anyone else, I tried another show for my friend in Florida, but it was sold out by 10:06. We're all counting on public onsales now.

Which is fine because I have somewhat more faith in that anyway, BUT I would've preferred not to have been a ticket buying zombie for the last hour.

Anyhoodle....

Christa, no news on the new cd yet. "Early 2006" was the latest estimate that I heard, but nothing is official. (I secretly wonder if Clay's planning a birthday surprise for me...he's so thoughtful like that!) By the way, if you really want to see him and not have to pay $100, I'd keep an eye on eBay. Lots of times people overbuy their tickets and then just want to get rid of them, so you may be able to get a bargain, even if they're not super close seats.

*sigh*

So, anyway...good luck for ticket weekend.

Kylene...you just crack me up somedays...niecephew...anyhoodle...you are just so danged cute! :)

My sister detests Clay. I am on the receiving end of much ridicule when it comes to my love for Clay. I defend defend defend, but it just never ends. So I'm sure there will be no cellcerts for Miss Ella...lol...heck she keeps threatening to hold her in so that I'm NOT in KC the night of his concert! She's so mean to me...lol

I got all excited when i saw the Nashville listing on there! I hadn't noticed it before! But then I realized that it's a Friday night...and my company Christmas party is the next night and I HAVE to attend that...sigh...it's looking like no Clay for me this Christmas! Oh well!! I got him in August, that'll have to hold me over! ;)

Just got an email from Ticketmaster - supposedly listing the fan club presale for NY as today...and no tickets are available. Thanks, Ticketmaster! 5 hours late is a great warning!

Ticketmaster lists a "Radio Presale" starting tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. through 9:00 p.m.

Does anyone know what THAT means?? :confused3

On the bright side, Debi - it looks like they still have Camden tix for the presale...

I'm leaning more towards the Camden show, if only because the upper price is lower than NYC, by $20 a ticket.

But still...I'll BE in NYC on Friday anyway...decisions, decisions...

Just to add to your misery...I just read that the NYC presale came up around 2:00 p.m.; someone actually reported getting front row. :badpc:

Actually, the presale is up NOW...it wasn't there when my email came in, so I don't think too many people know about it

:guilty:

Thanks so much for the heads up, Cookie. You don't know how much I appreciated the PM, cause I've been in and out of the DIS all day, but, since I am at work, I've got to be discreet and can't always stay on top of threads.

I can't believe those nasty little gremlins at Ticketmaster foiled my NYC magic. :sad2: I've spent a good part of my day refreshing that darn page, and finally I just...well...figured I should actually do what I get paid for and navigate away from the ticket site.

I just tried for any of the three shows, and the seats I've pulled up (either in pairs or singles) are in Rows S and R, center orchestra. They're not bad seats (obviously), but I'll take my chances on Saturday.

:sad1:

I'm only upset because someone pulled up front row. That literally makes my heart ache and puts a knot in my stomach. All I can hope is that there's something better left over.

Anyways, thanks again...and when I can get over this heartbreak (darn those stupid gremlins!!) we'll just have to hope for the pixie dust to work its magic on Saturday.

Ugh! I'm so sorry. :( I got that email about 3:30 and tried to get onto the site..."tickets not available"

Then I started roaming around to other Clay sites, to see what people were saying, and saw a post that the tickets came up around 2:00?? :confused3

So I posted here, PM'd you, and even sent an email. You've been so good about keeping everyone updated, I wanted to be sure you knew the tickets were available.

I've always hated Ron Delsner...he's a sleazoid character. This is just another reason.

Saturday :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I rushed home from work today to get to the Camden presale, and the seats are very poor (last 2-3 rows on the floor). I had last row on the floor at his JNT last year, and although we were lucky that we could hear Clay, it would have been nice had we actually gotten to *see* him. So, I'll try my luck on Saturday for better tickets.

Debi, had I known there'd be such a debacle with NYC and that I wouldn't end up at my own presale anyways, I would've tried Camden for you. I'm sorry!!

I do, however, believe that the NYC folks who got great seats were flukes, and my heart tells me Clay's holding something out for us on Saturday.

I hope.

Otherwise Clay and I might be in a little fight for a little while.

*sigh*

Brandie,

I know what you mean about getting it from all angles from family members. My sister went with me to Boston, and boy did I pay for it. (I really needed a chauffuer to drive me up and volunteered her.) Still paying, actually. My mom and other sister go with me to the CT shows, and it's not that they hate him, they just...don't love him. They like the music, but for all the reasons we all love him...well, that's what they like to tease me about. Although my mom will whistle a different tune when he's giving her grandbabies!! ;)

My godfather/cousin, on the other hand....ohhhhh boy. He's a pip. His wife is a fan and comes with us to the shows too, but every time he calls my house, if I answer, he goes, "This is Gay Aiken."

He thinks it's funny.

I don't.

I sent him a copy of the Clay and me photo with the caption, "A gift from your favorite and future cousins. Suitable for framing."

I hope Baby Ella is a Clay fan. She'll have to take after her favorite aunt! (Please tell me your sister is a Disney fan...cause otherwise we may need to devise a kidnapping scheme.)

And, trust me - you're not the only one hoping for a little DVD magic!!

I just tried to put in "joyful" as the code for the "radio presale" for NYC. Of course, it worked...but I'm so spoiled, that I don't want row T - hell, for all that, I'd rather have first row in the balcony.

Good luck to us all for tomorrow. :) :wizard:

So the Pittsburgh debacle continues. Reports were they went on presale yesterday - BUT my friend who works for the Pittsburgh Symphony and Heinz Hall (who book him and host the show) said they have NO CONFIRMATION FROM CLAY!!! It's listed on the tour schedule, but no one at the venue seems to be aware of it!! It's all so confusing. I'll make it to the show whenever it is though!!!

Kylene - don't worry about the Gay Aiken thing - my fiance actually named his character in the AI video game Gay Aiken, dressed him in terribly horrible outfits and WON THE WHOLE GAME! Grrr. People don't get it!!!

See that? As much as people try to put him down (even in a game), he comes out the winner!! :teeth:

I'm starting to think the whole presale thing is a joke anyhow. One person posted that she got 2nd row seats, but everyone else is getting the last few rows on the floor and the risers. There are still presale tickets available for Camden, but they are lousy tickets (last row on the floor, all the way to the right or left). The odd thing about the Camden presale is that everyone posting is getting seats either in the extreme right or extreme left floor section (from the seating chart, there are 4 sections on the floor), and these two sections are obstructed, due to the two sections in the middle having more rows in front. Hmmph.

I'll hold off until tomorrow and hope something better comes up. Please keep all fingers and toes crossed!!!

Well, I ended up with Row J for the Beacon...don't even ask how, because at first, the only rows coming up were in the back of the orchestra, and in the loge. I'd say they do that for scalpers, but I know what a sleazoid Ron Delsner is, so I doubt it.

How'd everyone else do???

I did about 20 rows better at the regular Ticketmaster presale than the Fan Club presale.

I'm mighty disappointed with the $35.00 fan club dues to get a crack at the secret password for "better seats". They need to do a whole lot better next time he tours or I'm seriously considering not renewing my membership.

I wound up with fairly decent seats (about halfway back on the floor, center). This is a *lot* better than the fan club presale. The presale seats were the last few rows on the floor - yuck.

Tanuki, I agree with you. The reason I joined the fan club was for the access to the presale tickets, but the seats are not that great. Why bother?

Some friends and I have 5 extra Kansas City seats if anyone is interested. They're in the Dress Circle and they were $68.80 per ticket. Spread the word!!
