*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

38 days until our trip!! Anyone start packing this early 🤣 I don’t have much to do this week so I’m going to start my packing list and ordering anything we need from Amazon.

So far on the list are portable fans, sunscreen, and ponchos. What are your other survive-Florida-in-August essentials?
We leave in 37 days but I do all of my packing/organizing in our guest room. We are expecting a guest in a couple of weeks that will spend the night so I can't start my piles in there yet! I keep using the drawers in their to stick stuff.
I can sympathize with that. After a while, the freckles meld together enough that it kind of looks like a tan from a few feet away lol
That is exactly my style of tan!
Hello my fellow August-ers! Hope everyone is doing well on this Monday. I have a question!

My fiance and I just got engaged and bought our first house! What are some awesome ways to celebrate at WDW? We already ordered some cute shirts and buttons...but we want to REALLY celebrate! I'd love any and all suggestions! Thanks everyone!
Congratulations! I echo the idea of dinner at Cali Grill and making sure that it is noted on your ADR's and hotel reservations.
They are, but we also get cards unless they changed that this year. We have to show the card when getting discounts on merch or food.
We bought our AP online (thankfully right before the price increase) so we have our vouchers. Do we go to guest services or a ticket counter to redeem it? We are going to go to Epcot to do so - I just want to be sure we go to the right booth!
I just realized we don't have our ME tags either! We did just make the final payment a week ago, so it's likely on the way. Can't wait!
We don't have ours either! We have our MB's and reservation just paid in full - so I'll wait a few more days but I'll also shoot our TA an email.
Three days ago I got a Slinky Dog fastpass, and tonight......I got a FoP! Was not expecting that!
YAY! Things always open up right before trips - I always keep checking for things that might be better than what we have.

We arrive on 8/2 and no notice here either. The website says something about fulfillment and shipping taking 11 days. I ordered ours on 6/30. I think we always received them several weeks out though. I will give it a few more days before I contact someone.
Got notice that the magic bands have shipped and are due to arrive Friday! I guess the 11 days is about right.

It *should* be linked, but look at the "My Plans" section of your MDE and make sure it is there. When that page loads up, under the members of your planning party, it will say "My Plans, Reservations and Tickets" in black, then under that, to the left, it will say "Daily Itinerary" also in black, and "Tickets & Memory Maker" in blue. Click on that, and you should see your Memory Maker listed towards the bottom, under your tickets. If it does not show up there, you can call to have them make sure it is properly linked.
Thank you. It was there. Thanks for the detailed directions to find it too. It was so easy to find the way you described it all.

I'm surprised how limited Hollywood and Vine is for times during my stay. I can either get 4:10 and 7:30. If I didn't have young kids 7:30 would be great... but I have young kids!

Just woke up to an email a little while ago that the MagicBands have SHIPPED and will be here FRIDAY! Yay!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

At least you guys get your magic bands shipped to you! They just don't like shipping things to Canada for some reason! We have to wait until we get to the resort to get ours. I'm really hoping our annual passes get to us before we leave! We just renewed the day after the price increase (ouch).

When I bought our APs a couple of months ago - they told me nothing will be mailed and to go to Guest Services to pick up the cards. Just make sure they show up in MDE. Oh, and we require photo ID and the credit card used to pay for the passes when we pick up a guest services.

I hear you on the frustration of nothing getting mailed to Canada!

Anyone know if there a special time of day that they update the park hours this Friday and when the fastpasses get added into the system for those adjusted/added hours? I know its probably random but I figured I would ask.

I think it tends to be the afternoon, but no set schedule...and of course, there may be no updates at all.

As for additional FP, I'm sure I read that you just have to keep looking. No schedule to when they would be added.

Finally under a month, seems so close, but when I think of my daughter still having 3 more weeks of camp and another week of confirmation classes, it seems soooooo far :(

Last night, my son returned from a business trip to FL (southern) and said it was HOT.

When I called to add the Magical Express to my plans, the cast member asked what I was celebrating this trip. I told him my 50th year. He asked for the date so he could include it on my reservation info. I just said my birthday already happened, but like Disney, I'm celebrating for a full year. He just laughed. :)

I know the guys on the DIS last week warned that it was the hottest summer they recall in recent history, and said to really be diligent about drinking lots of water. They stressed not soda, or tea, but water to keep hydrated. Sounds like they are having a real scorcher this summer.

Last summer, at least when we were there, was quite different. One evening we were sitting on the outside deck at Rose and Crown having dinner, and waiting for Illuminations, and I actually felt cold, which hadn't happened to me a single time in the 11 years I have been going to Disney during the summer. I was quite surprised by how cool it got. Sounds like I won't have that experience this time lol.

We did H20 glow in early August last year and I remember thinking how crazy it was that I was actually cold!

We are staying at BWI for the first three days of our trip and I really wanted HS day 2. We wanted Epcot and HS to be theBWI days and the other parks to be our WL days. Of course, we did not get SDD for that day on the original booking day. I have been checking back two to three times a day for a month and FINALLY got it today for day 2. My trip now really changes, but yay! Keep checking back if you don't get the day you want!

I may have asked this already (this thread has really been cranking haha) but where would you guys suggest a nice date night dinner with my wife in the Epcot resort area? We have gone back and forth a million times between Le Cellier, Yachtsman, Shula's and Flying Fish but cant seem to pin one down. Am I making too much of it? Are all 4 really good enough that we cant choose wrong (we have never eaten at any)?
