*** The Official August 2018 Thread*** - let's have some fun....

Well, I just need this trip to hurry up and get here so I can stop thinking of things I need to buy. :bitelip:

Crisis averted with the teenager. Last year I just focused on having clothes comfortable for the heat. This year that meant a lot of solid colors because she can no longer wear youth sizes (thanks puberty); but she wanted some Disney themed shirts and something other than solid colors. She's been working hard this summer trying to get extra credit; so I caved even though she waited until the last minute to tell me.

Thank goodness for Amazon Prime. I found some cute shirts: a Minnie shirt, an Incredibles II shirt, a Mickey Mouse shirt. I also found one shirt that says "Making Magic Happen" and another that says "Dream, Believe, Achieve". Those will be here on Saturday. Finally, I found two really cute shirts at Wal-Mart. One has Timon, Pumba, Simba and Nala and says Hakuna Matata. The other has Stitch and says Ohana. We have a breakfast reservation there on our last full day. Thankfully, my son doesn't really care a whole lot; but then he already has lots of character shirts, just Avengers, which is what he is heavily into currently.

So still finishing things up. I charged up our power pods for when our phones need a boost. I ordered some surprises for the kids carry-on bags that will arrive tomorrow. Also drawstring bags for the children to use as park bags to carry a snack, poncho, extra shirt, dd to carry her phone and my extra shirt. My park bag this year is a cooler backpack to carry drinks and the cooling towels.

I put my SD card into my Nikon to see how many pictures I can take. Almost 3800. I won't even get close to that. My children will disown me if I start taking too many photos; but it's nice to know I won't have to stop and import unless I just want to.

Lastly I'm currently charging up my son's portable nebulizer, an item I of course hope we do not need. We rarely need it as his asthma is viral induced. Basically he doesn't have an issue unless he has some other type of issue first (icky stuffy nose, allergies, or throat infection). Finally got a travel sized one with a rechargeable battery a few months ago. Happy to be able to leave our big one at home.

I can't believe tomorrow is Friday. :woohoo:

We always pack my son's nebulizer. Last June, I was at the hotel with him one night doing breathing treatments while hubby and daughter enjoyed the Star Wars Dessert Party. Thankfully, one night of treatments and upping his inhalers was enough and he was fine for the rest of the trip.

Told my older child yesterday; I thought he would enjoy it if he got to ask questions and help final planning ahead of time. He was surprised and excited. He said “ohhh, that’s why you’ve been listening to so many Disney podcasts...”. Ha! We watched a few videos of the resorts and he told me he loved the food and rides.

He asked if he was going to do the Pirate Adventire Cruise and I said I’d booked it. He said he was glad because this was the last time he could do it.

We are about a week and a half out. I’m going to tell my younger one just a few days before. I’ve located the laundry rooms and worked in some visits. I feel pretty ready, except I need to put together a plan for our MNSSHP; soon.

Reminds me I have to start packing that stuff Nebuilzers meds and epipens.

Wow ... finally caught up on this thread after our 5 nights/6 days in Vegas. Saw Bruno Mars concert while in Vegas- he is so good! Also, temperatures were up to 114 degrees F ... like standing in an oven! Now I'm ready to catch up on Disney talk and packing. Doing laundry all day today and officially starting to pack as our Disney trip is just 10 days away!

Love your plans! We will be at MK on the 9th as well - maybe we'll run into you!
Hm, and I might be tempted to post our plans as well. ;)

We leave on Monday! Last minute panic mode is setting in and I'm oh-so-excited! We check in to ASMo on Aug 1! :cool1: After the Disney portion of our trip, we'll be headed to an ocean front condo for a week. Since I probably won't be on the boards too much while I'm away, I wish everyone a fabulous trip and will report back when I return!

Oh, and I called (for the third time) today to confirm our room requests, and she said they only had 1 out of the 2 requests I previously called in on file (I previously requested Toy Story section and connecting rooms, and they didn't have the Toy Story request on file). :sad2: Hopefully they'll stick this time!

Haven't read this thread in a couple of months and it's great to see everyone so active now. We are 23 days out. We're on the FD train and hoping for a sweet BBO for next August! Here's the plan:

Hey neighbor!

We are checking in to All-Star Movies on Sunday, July 29th. I also requested the Toy Story section. That was my only request. I better call and check on it. I love that area; but I also picked it because the remodeling is reportedly finished in those buildings.

Have a great trip. The beach time afterwards sounds great.

Hi! :wave2: Getting a refurbished room would definitely be a bonus! Plus, we have a bunch of kiddos who just love Toy Story, so I'm crossing my fingers!

The number I called today was the direct phone to ASMo guest services, and a lady picked up on the second ring! I originally called the main line and added the requests to the reservation months ago. I then called the Movies number a few weeks back and she said to call back within 7-10 days as the reservations don't get in their system until then. Anyway, so somehow the requests didn't get transferred, and now I'm just hoping for the best. We'll try to get there early on check in day! ::yes::

Thanks for the tip. I called that number and got right through. My request was there thankfully. I know they don't guarantee it; but there's no chance at all if they don't see the request. We're flying in so don't have any more control over our arrival.

Thanks for the heads up. I am already confused, and I am not even there. :confused3 My map/diagram reading skills never did function properly. DH can just glance at a map, and he's off and running; I'll follow him.

I am "directionally" challenged, so I had a hard time figuring out where the map was depicting. If you know where the charter buses dropped off, it's over in that direction. Guess I'll figure it out when we get there. I think our first HS day is the 21st.

Keep trying to update credit card information on MDE, but keeps telling me they can't verify it.

I already have one on file, but wanna change it to something different. Everything is right so thats annoying

I have tried for days to check my credit card information using my computer - and it ALWAYS tells me it can't verify - tried several CC to no avail. It did work on the app though. Maybe try that.

Won’t work for me. The app won’t even ever load the check in details. Always says try again.

I'm glad you said that! We always have left it off the list, but since we are going to MK so much on this trip, I made sure to include it. Looking forward to it now :-)

We always see Philharmagic at least once during our trip. It is a cute, and enjoyable show, plus it is air conditioned, and there is never a long wait to get in. It is something we don't really plan, we just hop in line when the mood moves us.

Well I tweeted a few weather guys about next week weather since it’s basically 50-60 percent rain chance everyday and they told me yeah it’s basically rain chances in the afternoons and we’ll see rain but no wash outs. Sun will most likely shine in the morning hours.

Which is good

This is pretty typical August weather for the Orlando area. Afternoon showers and storms most days.

That is pretty much what I'm expecting, although I'm hoping the showers are short. We're trying to get some evening park time this trip. Our touring style isn't to go in the morning, take a midday break, and return in the evening. It is hard to get my kids out again once we have returned to the resort. So for MK, AK and DHS we are planning to visit each twice this trip. We are going to alternate this trip between mornings in the park and evenings at the resort and mornings at the resort and evenings at the park.

The exception will be Epcot which we plan to do from around 10am to 5, then have a relaxing dinner at Garden Grill and then see what we have left.

Usually the showers are relatively short lived. Longer rains to happen from time to time, but that isn't the norm. Typically, the afternoon / evening storms last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. They can be pretty intense, but usually aren't long lasting, and when they are done, that is it, the sun is back out, it is 95 degrees, and you could cut the humidity with a knife.

Not only do we enjoy Disney Springs, we really enjoy the boat ride from POR to Disney Springs. When we stayed at POR, we always got there early afternoon, right around 1:00. We would grab lunch at the Riverside Mill, and then take the boat down to Disney Springs for a bit of shopping, and supper. That ride is so relaxing, it was one of my favorite parts of the vacation, and is truly the one thing I have missed since we started staying offsite.

We tried D-Luxe burger last August, and it was insanely good. Now maybe part of the reason I enjoyed it so much is because I am on a low fat diet, and avoid beef for the most part in order to keep the heart healthy, so a hamburger is a rare treat for me. However, the rest of my family is not on that diet, and they all agreed it was amazing :)
