***The Official AKV Owners And Lovers Thread***. Come And Chat

It is absolutely worth going.

I was a little intimidated by the menu options as I had never tried some of these dishes and everything was delicious.

The standout dishes to us were the short ribs and the boar tenderloin. Everything from service to presentation to taste was amazing.

Here are some pictures from January of this year.

Looks scrumptious! But looks like I’d have to go to Five Guys afterwards to fill my belly 😂

I stayed in a 1br value last July, and the room had a regular ol' Mr. Coffee type coffee maker. I was traveling solo and was only there 3 nights, so I never actually used it. Just got Joffrey's in the park.

What kind of coffee/filter should I bring for a studio? Thanks!!

Tried Jiko for first time last year and would definitely recommend. Had hard time choosing from all the menu choices. Sampled wine and cocktail, appetizers, mains, enhancements, and the deserts. Was a perfect meal experience. Here is just a few items: Boar tenderloin, Halibut, and Lamb shank.

Thanks for your input. On the lamb, I always find that lamb is "gamey," which is weird because I hunt and we eat what we harvest and I have no issues with any of that. Did you find the lamb had that typical lamb flavor or was this prepared much differently. It definitely looks fantastic.

Thanks for your thoughts and for the pictures. Short ribs and boar tenderloin sound right up my alley.

On another note, this trip will be our first 3BR GV at Jambo. The only other time we stayed was on cash at Kidani. The kids were young and that was our, "we'll go once, do the parks everyday and we won't be back," trip. So we didn't really enjoy the resorts. That was started us down this DVC path and we've been back for meals and that's about it since then but never spent substantial time at the resorts since. Any insights on the resort that we may not have thought of? The transport back and forth from one resort to the other, is that every ten-fifteen minutes or so? I think we would be doing ourselves a disservice if we didn't try both pools, Kidani seems smaller but may have a better slide situation, is that correct? Anything we should make sure we need to try/do while we are on property. We are planning on Sanaa for lunch one day (DD request), Boma for breakfast (other DD request-we've done dinner there before) and Jiko, is the Mara decent? Anything worth checking out in the Community Hall? Anything go on during the day the kids may enjoy. There will be six of us, 2 adults, 2 adult children (f) and 2 12-13 year old children (f). Anything about the 3BR at Jambo that may be overlooked or maybe we haven't thought of? Thank you.

Hard for me to describe. To me it had the great lamb flavor with a toned down gamey taste. So much infused flavor with each bite. When having lamb at home, I like to soak it overnight in Italian dressing of something similar that blends so well with the lamb flavor cutting the gamey. It was more like that. Like they bonded flavor to the lamb goodness.

Now you have me intrigued.

Haha that bobotie mac and cheese in itself was very filling
Is that what's in the top row on the far right? If that's not it, I want to know what that is. Looks so good! And what is the shrimp dish in the middle, third row down? Actually everything looks delicious!

Don't expect it to taste like traditional mac and cheese because it doesn't, more meaty, but still delicious! I loved the presentation of the signature dessert with the bird on top that matched the restaurant decor and the complimentary giraffe bread was good too! They have a very extensive wine list as well. I'm asking my cousin what the seafood dish was ill go eat back.to you on that!

Just let me say the GVs at Jambo are amazing. You could have a family reunion just outside on the amazing balconies! But I'll give you our opinion on some of your questions. First, it's really not a bad walk between resorts, if your family is up for it. It might be 1/2 mile/10-minute walk from the Jambo lobby to the Kidani lobby - the entire way safely on sidewalks. If you are looking for transportation between, I'm not 100% certain of the timing of the van that goes back and forth - I'm sure a cast member can verify that for you. But also keep in mind another option - if you're going from Jambo to Kidani, you can hop on the Disney Springs bus, which goes from Jambo first to Kidani before DS. If you're going from Kidani to Jambo, you can hop on any of the theme park buses, which go from Kidani to Jambo before heading to the parks.

We actually prefer the Jambo pool, but haven't done those pools with kids in awhile (so they might have a different view!). Both pools have afternoon music and games for the kids. The Jambo pool is definitely bigger. It's also right next to The Mara, which is our favorite counter service location at any of the resorts.

When we did the GV at Jambo, we had fun with the pool table in your room! Your kids might have fun with that. I know I didn't answer all your questions, but maybe I helped with one or two. Have a great trip!

That was super helpful. Didn't realize the walk was so short between the two. I remember when we stayed at Kidani we were about half-way down the hallway, and at the end of the night it felt like it was three miles, but we were park warriors with no intention of coming back again on that trip! Thanks for the tips on the busses, that helps as well

The shuttle that runs between Jambo and Kidani runs pretty much continuously during the day and into the evening. Note that the pickup spot is near the lobby entrance, not at the bus stop, for either resort. Ask the CMs at the lobby entrance to show you where and tell you the operating hours.

Thanks for that time saving tidbit!

We took the shuttle while there. Easy peasy. Waited maybe 2 min for it to arrive.
