*** The Official 2014 - DLR -July Thread ***(We All Have Been There & Back Home)

Any other 3rd shifters on the July thread? You guys know where I'm coming from!

I'm not, but DH is a swing shifter :) We always start his vacation days at least 3 days before we leave to try and 'shuffle' his sleep. We jokingly say he needs to be a 'day walker' LOL! :rotfl:

I saw that, that's so cool! We actually won tickets and airfare and hotel. I requested DLH, but was given GCH. That'll work! [happy ferret dance] It'll be our first time at DL, too. There's a couple of other fams on this thread who'll be at DL the same time. Can I talk anyone into the DCA power walk tour on Friday, August 1st? It's two miles in the park before EE and it's free. I just hate doing anything by myself... I haven't even mentioned it to my fam; they're teens and Mr. FFerret. A VERY hard sale.

I may be up for that! It was something I wanted to do but I'm not sure anyone in my family will want to do it.

We would love to join you as we are avid hikers (hence the National Parks part of our DL vacation), but we are leaving on the 1st to head up to Yosemite.
Have fun !!!

We will be at the parks July 13-16or17. We haven't decided if we're staying onsite or at a friend's house. I'd love to stay onsite, but it's tempting to save the cash and stay at our friend's house (they will have a pool.) Decisions, decisions!

Can't say I have ever fallen asleep in any shows or rides - but ask me again after this next trip ;)

I cannot believe some of you have started packing already! :worship: You're amazing. You do know it's not til July right? ;) I consider myself a pretty organised person (and get teased about it by family) but I'm not intending to start packing until a week prior.

We have made big Countdown charts for the kids' bedrooms though :) I think it's 79 days today :yay:

I've never fallen asleep during a show...yet. Ask me after we go to the 24 hour event in May ;)

I've never done countdown charts for my kids. In fact, we usually don't tell our kids until the day we leave. They get all worked up and beside themselves if we tell them earlier. Oldest DS also gets super grumpy. He works himself up SO much that he gets grumpy. It's better for us to wait to tell him. Usually he doesn't like surprises, but he doesn't mind being surprised with DL:thumbsup2

I start making lists for what to pack about a month out. Then start packing about two weeks out. In all the trips we've made, I've only ever forgotten the kids bibs (obviously when they were still little) so I ran out to Target the night we arrived and bought some =)

Hi! My fiance and I will be at DLR for our honeymoon from July 3-10. We've booked the Candy Cane Inn. I don't have all of the details of our trip planned yet since I'm also planning our wedding, but I do know that we'll be getting 5-day park hoppers. I also know our basic itinerary, which is as follows:

July 3: Arriving in Anaheim mid-day, so we'll take the rest of the day to settle in and shop/dine in DTD.

July 4: Our first park day! I've read that the parks are pretty dead up until about 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon on the 4th, so we'll be getting most of our rides in before then and will play it by ear afterwards.

July 5: Park day

July 6: Rest day (non-park day). My fiance and I are both currently in PT for knee injuries, so we'll need an entire day to be off of our feet as much as possible near the middle of our trip. I thought it would be best to choose a weekend day to rest since those are the busiest days in the parks.

July 7-9: Park days (the 9th is our last park day)

July 10: Last day in Anaheim. We booked a premium room at CCI, which includes a 2:00 p.m. checkout, so we'll be sleeping in and having a late breakfast in the hotel room before packing our bags. We'll spend the rest of our last day browsing in DTD, walking around the DLH property (we've always stayed there on previous trips, but the rising cost of the wedding has made it more financially practical to book offsite this year), having lunch at Storyteller's Cafe, and relaxing in the GCH lounge area until it's time to leave.

I'll be collaborating with my fiance this weekend to go over the details of our dining plans/reservations. I'm not sure what day we'll be using our MM privileges yet, so we may discuss that as well.

OMG - I slip away for one day and you guy's blow up this thread...:lmao:

:goodvibes - Need to catch up...:surfweb:

It's perfectly fine. Fortunately, we don't actually have crutches or we'd have to postpone our trip! I like the cute emoticon you added next to my dates! :goodvibes

Great - Did not want to offend a fellow Diser, just like to have a little fun. Glad you and your fiancé joined us. :cool1:

OMG our thread is on page 2!! I had to post something to move it up!!!

We are in the DOUBLE DIGITS!!!! :cool1::banana::dancer:party:

Has anybody any recommendations for transfers from LAX? I was going to go with Disneyland Express but I see now it only leaves the airport once an hour :confused3

Also, any updates on closures for July? I thought I saw Matterhorn was closed for our dates some time ago but can't seem to find anything about it now.

I dont have any recommendations for the transportation....as we are taking a private car.

I do know that the Matterhorn is now going to be open, they rescheduled it. Right now it looks like the only ride that will be closed in July is Nemo

Sorry, dont know about the transportation options for you, but its great news that almost every attraction will be in full swing for July now !!! :cool1:
Its our first trip to DL (and possibly our only trip), and didnt want to miss anything . BTW, I think the subs may never re-open. :( so we wont be able to try that out. I have fond memories of 20,000 leagues at WDW when I was a kid.
Even though Matterhorn is supposed to be a rough ride, we still want to experience this Disney classic .

I'm late to the party.. Last couple years I planned super early. This year I am planning late!

I am tossing the idea back and forth between Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian or off site. I have always stayed off site but I am really thinking about pulling the trigger and staying on site.
If I stay at Disneyland Hotel do I still get the early entrance to DCA?

Oh, getting there on the 13th and probably staying through the 17th.
