*** The Official 2014 - DLR -July Thread ***(We All Have Been There & Back Home)

Sorry, dont know about the transportation options for you, but its great news that almost every attraction will be in full swing for July now !!! :cool1:
Its our first trip to DL (and possibly our only trip), and didnt want to miss anything . BTW, I think the subs may never re-open. :( so we wont be able to try that out. I have fond memories of 20,000 leagues at WDW when I was a kid.
Even though Matterhorn is supposed to be a rough ride, we still want to experience this Disney classic .

Nemo being closed depresses me but im thankful that the matterhorn will be open because this will probably be our only trip out to the land.

Really wish the hours would come out before our reservation window opens:confused3

I dont have any recommendations for the transportation....as we are taking a private car.

I do know that the Matterhorn is now going to be open, they rescheduled it. Right now it looks like the only ride that will be closed in July is Nemo

OMG!!! it will be open the whole month!!!??? I am sooo excited about this!!!!

Ooooh that is good news about Matterhorn. I hadn't heard that. Yay. :cool1: My 8 year old will be very pleased. Every Sunday morning (I don't know why Sunday but so it is), she sits down and draws a Disneyland ride. She goes on Google Images and pulls up photos then sits down to draw her version of it. Last week was Matterhorn, even though I had already told her it was going to be under refurbishment. She will be very happy. She's determined to go on all the "scary rides".

Where is this info coming from? I know this site has a Refurbishments thread but where does the info on that come from? How do people know what is down? (Other than things like Nemo which are down for a very long time so are common knowledge.)

Hello fellow July travelers. I'm getting ready to purchase airfare in the next few days and I am over obseessing about when to arrive at DLR. We usually start our trip on a Sunday, but airfare is much cheaper for that Saturday. My points of obsession:

1. That Satruday is the day after the 4th. Will it be extra crazy? Or the same-crazy as any other Saturday.
2. Is Satruday just a bad day to arrive? Our flight would get in at 930 am so we'd probably be to the parks by 11.

My must I twist myself up in the small details so much? Ahhh!!!! :crazy2:

I'm late to the party.. Last couple years I planned super early. This year I am planning late!

I am tossing the idea back and forth between Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian or off site. I have always stayed off site but I am really thinking about pulling the trigger and staying on site.
If I stay at Disneyland Hotel do I still get the early entrance to DCA?

Oh, getting there on the 13th and probably staying through the 17th.

:welcome:Aboard Dis Family - We are all so ready for our trip...:yay:

I have updated your information on the front page... Keep us posted as to your final plans.

Love The Chit Chat...:cool1:

So excited that Matterhorn will be open now!! And we leave in 97 days!!

I'm a crafty person (as in arts and crafts not shady, lol) so I like to make matching shirts for our Disney trips. I ordered my tie dye supplies last night to make shirts and ordered the iron on transfer paper today. I started panicking when I realized how little time I had.

I first joined this thread not long after my mother had a stroke, and I am happy to report that she is doing really great. I would say she's recovered about 90% of her functioning at this point and continuing to make progress.

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but I had my house on the market and just finalized the contract on it this week. It was a long process because FEMA had re-mapped my neighborhood in 2009 and declared my house in a flood zone without even telling me. I knew there was no way my house would ever flood, so I hired an engineer to survey the property and prove it was above the base elevation level. Then I had to submit all that paperwork to FEMA. Finally, after about 6 weeks (and an unnecessary 2 week delay because my case worker screwed up) my property has been officially exempted from the flood zone. :yay: That was the final hold up on the sales contract so I'm expecting to close and move within the next couple of weeks.

This is also a very busy time of year in my city of Louisville, Kentucky because it is Kentucky Derby time!! The official season kicked off last Saturday with Thunder Over Louisville, the country's largest fireworks display. (Although this year my nephews and I were watching the new Captain America at the theater during that show.) There are lots of festivities between then and the first Saturday in May when the race is run at historic Churchill Downs. So be sure to tune in on the first Saturday in May around 5:30 p.m., to watch the beautiful thoroughbreds "Run for the Roses" and think of me, your new Dis friend.

I normally head to Tomorrowland first. SM or ST usually ends up being my first ride. This time my son get's to dictate where we go and what we ride (at least for the first day) and he has said he wants to ride the HM first. Sooo the opposite of what I have always done. LOL

I've been to WDW once and I can't remember what we rode first.
