*** The Official 2014 - DLR -July Thread ***(We All Have Been There & Back Home)

:offtopic: Yes, I am a newbie. For whatever reason (probably operator error), I can't seem to figure out how to upload a picture--a really cool countdown calendar my DW and DD made. The forum FAQ says to click on "albums and pictures" in the user control panel. My CP doesn't have "albums and pictures" anywhere on it. Any ideas?

I think you have to use a photo hosting site (I use Photobucket). Once you load the photo there, you click the "copy" link and then paste that link into your post here. I think you also have to have a certain number of posts on here before you can post photos. I'm on my phone and can't see how many posts you have yet, but that may be part of the problem.

Hello Everyone

Posting from my phone so I can't review before submitting, so here goes.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.. did some packing this weekend.

Some of you are probably not getting to much sleep because of all the excitment going on around the house.

97 degrees here in Fort Worth Texas and we are so ready to get to the West Coast...

Happy Planning, Happy Packing and Happy Disney Vacation Dreams.

To All - We Welcome a new Dis-Fan to our group... Rescue Pooh and Dad. They will be going July 10th through July 16th.

They signed in on our thank you thread. We should here from them later when they post on this thread.....

:cool1:

Oops must have posted on wrong thread. I'm looking forward to this trip since it's been years since I've been.

I wanted to share our Mickey's surprise birthday gift for DS. I took some pictures this evening of the things that will be in it. I will wait until he is asleep and then put it out for him to find in the morning on his birthday.

Notes from Mickey. The three tags are for the light up star bracelet, glowsticks and wands, and Disneyland Mickey ears.

From dollar stores: MMCH stickers, notepad, water "bottle", light wands, glowsticks, Mickey Pez, Colouring book.

From Target: glowsticks, light up bracelet

From Etsy: Birthday shirt

From Disneyland: Mickey ears (my friend got them for me on her trip last month and then sent them to me).

From Party City: MMCH Rubik's Cube, Mickey keychain, MMCH birthday banner (not shown)

Library book sale: Sorcerer's Apprentice book

Disney Store: Mickey plush

Vintage Mickey and Donald were things I have had saved for about 20 years.

I made this autograph/photobook out of a dollar store photo album and scrapbooking paper and embellishment from Michael's. I have cut card stock into 4x6 rectangles that he will give to the character to sign and then it will slide in below a picture.

Thank you to Bob and all of the post-ers for making this such a fun group! Without you I'd still be excited about our trip, but WITH you I'm even more thrilled! Hoping I can get the rest of my group (3 adults and 4 tween/teens) to the same level of "wwhhhhhheeeeeeeeee!!!!!!" soon!

I'm stressed about:
packing
heat
crowds
plans for "travel home" day (no park; fly out of Long Beach ~7pm)
photo pass+ (should I have saved the money??)
group personalities (ok, mostly me...)
being the only one (of eight) who wants to "plan"

I'm excited for:
photo pass+ (oops, how'd that get on both...)
no closures of "must-ride" rides
surprising the rest of the group with limo to hotel (still need to book)
celebrating DH bday (he'll be as old as me) on our last park day
having DH's aunt/uncle (DLR vets and uncle helped with DCA planning) on our last park day
corn dog (family funny from delayed flight home from Fiji in January; we will have many pictures and chuckles...)

I wish: I knew what the Must-Dos/Must-Sees are for everyone so we can have a "plan"
I remembered more of the layouts of the parks from my one trip Oct. 2010 for "planning"
DSIL did not have to deal with physical limitations due to heat & MS
I had a crystal ball

Hello - Give me a few minutes and I will edit this post with some of my thoughts.. BRB :yay:

Ok - Here goes. I have been a single custodial Father for 14 years now.. My wife left us when my DD was 3 months old. I have been in control for 14 years and now I have to slow down and let my DD be herself at times so I know what you mean about personality conflicts.

I'm stressed about: Don’t be stressed out!!! You are doing super.

Packing – We only take clothes for 3 days and undergarments for the duration of the trip. I always take tide pods and make some me time to wash.
Heat – I found this link www.weather.com/weather/wxclimatology/monthly/graph/USCA1306

Crowds – I found this link
www.rmhtravel.com/disneyland-365-crowd-calendar.html#RANGE!A47
Tuesday, July 8, 2014 8 out of 10 7.9 8.1 SL, SC
Wednesday, July 9, 2014 8 out of 10 7.1 7.9 SL, SC
Thursday, July 10, 2014 8 out of 10 7.5 7.8 SL, SC
Friday, July 11, 2014 7 out of 10 7 7.6 SL, SC
Saturday, July 12, 2014 8 out of 10 8.4 7.3 SL, SC, DX

Plans for "travel home" day (no park; fly out of Long Beach ~7pm)
Take in DTD Anaheim Gardenwalk Area – Eat Brk & Shop until your departure time for Long Beach Airport.

Photo pass+ (should I have saved the money??)
I can’t assist you with this as I have never purchased a Photo pass in our 14 years of Disney.
I always used a camera for pic’s, videos and love making You Tube Videos.

Group personalities (ok, mostly me...)
Don’t worry, as a Host / Hostess of a group… we always worry way too much about what the group thinks… We have to be confident and everyone will follow.

Being the only one (of 8) who wants to "plan"
I am sure everyone will appreciate your planning.

I'm excited for:
photo pass+ (oops, how'd that get on both...)
no closures of "must-ride" rides

Yes, This is great news.

Surprising the rest of the group with limo to hotel (still need to book)

You are a SUPER host. Can I come along?

Celebrating DH B-Day (he'll be as old as me) on our last park day.

We have been going to Disney every year during the week of my B-Day, I love the attention and it makes me feel like a kid again..

Having DH's aunt/uncle (DLR vets and uncle helped with DCA planning) on our last park day.

That’s neat, but you’ll have it down to a science by then!!

Corn dog (family funny from delayed flight home from Fiji in January; we will have many pictures and chuckles...)

Sound neat.

Remember we are WDW Vet’s so this trip will be the first DLR trip for us. I can only share my strategies and experiences from WDW.

I wish I knew what the Must-Dos/Must-Sees are for everyone so we can have a "plan"

We are a ride, ride, ride group. We will use the fast pass system to its MAX. At WDW, we can acquire and use up to 14 fast passes daily per park and only use the standby line a couple of times during a park day.
We don’t take in the shows unless we need to cool off and take a power nap, since we have seen the same shows many times over and over.

I wish I remembered more of the layouts of the parks from my one trip Oct. 2010 for "planning"

Have you been able to print out the Park Maps on the front page?

I wish DSIL did not have to deal with physical limitations due to heat & MS

I wish for this also. I don’t have any thoughts other than I will pray for your DSIL.

I wish I had a crystal ball – I bet once you are in the Park, it will all come back to you. 2010 has not been too long ago.

Hope this helps and eases your stress.

Love the gifts! I am working on mine now. Great job!!!

Just a quick hello. I have been reading these boards forever but this thread sucked me in :) DD and I are heading down July 2 - 17 but first day in the parks is the 6th and we cannot wait (hitting San Diego up first).

Just curious, out of all the families heading down, is anyone else going with a dance group? My DD is dancing in the parades on the 11th and 12th. Pretty exciting for both of us - we were with the same group back in 2012.

Anyhow, just thought I would peek in and actually say hello. I am having a hard time focusing on anything but this trip :hyper: so I thought maybe if I post here instead of facebook I would stop getting unfriended ha ha ha.

I think you have to use a photo hosting site (I use Photobucket). Once you load the photo there, you click the "copy" link and then paste that link into your post here. Thanks! I'll give it a whirl. :badpc:

That did the trick--flickr and BBCode. Here's one of us last year at the World. I'll have that nifty countdown calendar on here soon! 38 DAYS!!! WOOT WOOT! :cool1:

Photopass is worth it--promise! (At least for me, who otherwise never ends up getting in the pictures.) Plus, I love all the ride photos. PP+ makes it really easy to make family photo books later where everyone is actually in a number of pics.

As for the heat, last year I bought everyone in our family, including my in-laws, Frogg Togg towels to wear around their necks at DL--they keep you cool for hours at a time. Total lifesaver.

I hope you have a wonderful time! This will be our sixth time at DL, and every time I just love it more!
