The Official 2014 - Disneyland Resort -June Thread! Let's Plan!

So happy to find this thread! I have had so many friends say "you are crazy to do DL in June...."

We are off to the DLR for June 13, 14, 15, & 16 celebrating DD's 8th birthday and of course Father's Day with dad and grandpa. First night at HoJo's waiting for hubby's flight in, then DLR @ DH for three days. This is our second trip in June with the birthday girl but I think this will be more challenging - last time it was all Mickey and Princesses, this year she's asking for rollercoasters. :woohoo:

Still debating if DD will stay awake for WOC and Fantasmic - not sure about the dessert package (although it looks yummy to me...!) but already booked WOC lunch reservations.

And then there are the Frozen princesses - I just don't think I can do a three hour wait. Any tips or tricks ?

We will be there June 22-25 staying at Paradise Pier Resort. This is a first trip for all of us. Of course, I went when I was 2 but I dont think that counts.

Thanks Sorsha! Still at the hospital but in a regular patient room now so I'm hoping the doctor discharges DH soon so we can go home and sleep undisturbed. I know it's hard as the nurses need to monitor him and there are machines beeping, people talking, etc.

Good decision re canceling BTRBBQ. we did it on our last trip and it was good, but we are not big eaters and I found I much preferred a corn dog while DH preferred a turkey leg (both of which are faster, not to mention cheaper!).

did you guys get to go home and how is your husband doing?

its our first trip too! we leave day after tomorrow :)

I finally started packing. We fly out Sunday morning. Good thing I do my best work under pressure because I am starting to feel the pressure as the days and hours tick away! Can't wait to land in California and see Mickey!

Leavin' for Cali in the morning and will be at DLR starting on the 1st! So excited for some cooler weather, relaxation, and great entertainment. I love road trips!

I wish I could help you on this, but the only strategy I have heard of is a mad (and dangerous) dash to the meet and greet area at rope drop. If I see or hear of anything better while I am there, I'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks for asking! Yes, he was discharged yesterday afternoon, but we both went back to work and had so much to catch up on so this is my first time back here. Thanks for your concern. DLR trip is still on!!! He will still be on his antibiotics, but I'll make sure to have Dechert's on my cell in case he needs an ECV so he doesn't get over exhausted. Given his 2 hip surgeries (which necessitated ECVs on our last 2 trips), this was supposed to be our first ECV-free trip....

Still, I'm so glad we are going!

We just booked our June vacation. Staying at DLH! We are thinking about concierge, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I am also looking at extending and going to SeaWorld!

Heading to DL for the first time June 8-14th and staying at DLH. One daughter's 8th birthday on the 10th and the other turns 1 on the 14th.

It's trip month!!! I just placed our grocery delivery. Hoping the next 3 weeks pass quickly!

I hope everyone going early June has an amazing time! We are on our countdown 13 days to go!!! We are too excited I keep watching you tube videos and I'm not even a disney newbie we just love disney soo much! <3

so im probably crazy but just booked my first ever DL trip for June 28 - July2 :cool1: Im a WDW vet so im really excited to finally get out to DL and see where it all began for Walt...

Im travelling solo too so if anyone else is there around the same time let me know :goodvibes

We leave in 11 days :woohoo::woohoo:. Just placed our grocery order and finished booking dining. We are eating at Tortilla Jo's for dinner our first night, Cafe Orleans for lunch (decided not to do Blue Bayou since we most of their menu is stuff we eat all the time at home in Louisiana), Carthay Circle and Storytellers for dinner. I really wanted to try Napa Rose but my family is less than thrilled with their menu. Planning for Disneyland is SO different from Disneyworld. I was also able to book a cabana at the Grand Californian for an afternoon at the pool. Hoping to start some packing this weekend.

We just got back yesterday from our trip! We are from Louisiana, too. We did eat at the Blue Bayou. The atmosphere was great. The menu choices are limited. The chicken was very well prepared, but was bland. My husband had a steak which he enjoyed. He ordered the gumbo just to see what it was like and it was definitely not gumbo! It seemed more like étouffée than gumbo. It was very very very thick. There's no way it was made with a roux. It seemed like it had some kind if "cream of something soup" for a base. It had dirty rice (guessing the rice they use for the jambalaya) sprinkled on top. That being said, we did enjoy the atmosphere :)

I love seeing the Louisiana people in this thread! We love the filet and potatoes at Blue Bayou... And definitely agree that the gumbo is more like étouffée :)

We leave in 17 days... Can't wait for the parks and afternoons in the cabana :)

I love Louisiana but love getting away from the humidity in the summer!
