The Official 2014 - Disneyland Resort -June Thread! Let's Plan!

Does anyone know how DAS works. I have had knee surgery and it hurts if I have to stand in place for more than 15 minutes. My friends went in February and told me to get the DAS because they know my situation

I just had knee surgery Tuesday. Uge ... From what I have read you can't get a card for a mobility issue. That's what a wheelchair and ECV is for. Good luck! I feel for ya.

Guess we're a little extra crazy. ;) But, when you're planning a trip for 10 and working around NY and Australia school schedules, Disneyland at end of June and into early July is where you end up.

This is our family "vacation of a lifetime" trip, courtesy of our mom who is footing a large portion of the bill. Trip will be 10 people total from 3 different locations:
  • Me, husband, and our 2 sons from western NY (Rochester area)
  • My mom and brother from upstate NY (as in an hour north of Albany "upstate", not just outside NYC ;))
  • My sister, her husband, and our 2 nieces from Australia

We're staying in a 3 bedroom suite at the Disneyland Hotel. Us three "kids" agreed to pay the extra for the suite beyond the cost of less expensive option for our mom (2 standard rooms, cramming 5 into each room). Very excited and can't believe the time is almost here after years of talk and planning. :hyper:

I'm the official Disney trip planner in the family and have several Excel spreadsheets to track all the details. I'm starting to feel the crunch time kick in. We have the couple of restaurant reservations we wanted and I just booked a pool cabana for our non-park day on Saturday. Both Tuesdays are travel/relax days. We have 4-day park hoppers and are planning Saturday and Monday as non-park days.

Guess I need to decide soon if I'll attempt a trip report for this round. Given how hard it's been for me to find details on the 3 bedroom suites, I almost feel obligated to document the experience so it'll hopefully help others who are crazy enough to go that route (we'll probably never see a DLH suite again after this...unless I start playing the lottery and win :p).

How exciting! We stayed in a 3 bedroom suite in Feb 2012 and I agree it's almost impossible to find info! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. I also have some pictures I could share with you.

I would love to see a trip report for your trip! I know for sure it is the only way I will ever see the inside of a Disney hotel 3 bedroom suite!! Unless, like you, the lottery comes through for me... ;)

Add me to the list! My mom and I will be there 5/31-6/3. 4 Day Hoppers, we get in early (6am flight out of Seattle to SNA) Saturday. Monday will be a half day for us at DL because we have tickets to see a taping of Jimmy Kimmel!
This will probably be my last DLR trip for a long time (babies are on the horizon for DH and I) and I'm so glad I'll be making the trip with just my mom :)

We will be in Disneyland also in June. I had no choice of dates, as I will be attending a conference for June 2-6. Added an additional day onto the front end of the trip, as convention rate was fairly good. We may never be able to stay at the Disneyland Hotel again. My husband and kids will get to play in the parks while I sit in conference classes each day from 8-5ish.
Just a tip for those planning to see WOC, try and do it any night other than Tuesday, June 3rd as the Convention is arranging a viewing that night, so I assume the seating may be limited.

Great tip! Thanks!! :thumbsup2

We will be heading to DL the second week of June. Spending two days in the parks before heading to San Diego for the remainder of the trip. This is a very last minute trip for us. We are planners and know WDW like the back of our hands, but we haven't been to DL in over 20 years! I need major help - dining to be specific. Where are THE places to eat? What food goodies are not to be missed (ie., Dole Whips!)? Looks like grad night takes place one of the two days we will be in the parks. I'm not too stressed by it though. I am normally a huge planner and have everything planned out when going to WDW, but that's not happening with this trip. So any advice would be greatly appreciated!:thumbsup2

Oh dear... where to begin...

What kinds of foods do you enjoy? As far as snacks are concerned, Dole Whips and Turkey Legs (much like WDW), cream cheese pretzels (in Tomorrowland, I believe) and corn dogs from the Little Red Wagon (holy LINE, batman...). Also the Garlic Parmesan fries from Cafe Orleans.

Sit down eateries, my personal favorites are the Big Thunder BBQ and the Plaza Inn on Main Street (*drools over fried chicken memories*). Many people LOVE Blue Bayou, but I have never eaten there personally, as the menu doesn't appeal to my Picky People. Some day I will...

I have never eaten at Disney's California Adventure, it has been too long since the last time I visited. They are said to have some of the best dining on property though.

Downtown Disney has Earl of Sandwich and Rainforest Cafe (favorites from WDW) and also Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen. I have not eaten there but I have heard it is VERY good.

Check out this link for a description of menus and some photos and prices. Also this thread for people's personal food photos. A word of warning on that thread though, start at the last page and work your way back. Food on the first pages is from too long ago and a lot of it isn't offered any more.

Sorsha, thank you! This is exactly the input I was looking for. While my husband and I are more adventurous with foods, my 2 dd's are not. They mostly
stick to pasta and chicken, salads, etc. We all like desserts and snacks though! I was looking at the Blue Bayou and didn't really see anything that caught my eye. The Care Orleans, however, looks like our type of place.

BTW what days are you spending in the parks? We will be at Disney the 8-10th of June, then in San Diego the 11th-14th. Have to go home to reality on the 15th. :sad1:

I'll give it a shot. I started one on another site for our 2002 trip to WDW. It started off amazing and very detailed and by the time I got to the end, I kind of lost the energy. :) I'll definitely try to get some decent pictures of the 3BR suite we end up in before the family has a chance to move in and destroy it. :teeth:

DisneyJamieCA, thanks for the offer. I have a PM all typed up and saved but cannot send yet. Tells me I need to have at least 10 posts to PM or visitor message anyone but moderators. :roll eyes: So, I'm seeing what posts I can reply to and or other questions I can ask to get to that magic number and be able to contact you. This'll be my 8th post since joining in 2001, lol. Guess I really only pop on when I have something specific to ask and a trip in the works. :)

It's almost too depressing to frequent these sites when no trips are planned because all the excitement in the threads just makes me wish we were going to DL or WDW. ;)

We will be at Disney 10-12, then heading to San Diego on the 13-17. Haven't been to California in years and we are really looking forward to bringing our girls to see the West Coast!

UH OH. Between Grad Nights, F! and EMH days, this is the best night for us to do WOC. We have reservations for CC WOC package and I was planning on being ready to grab the rail spot 90 minutes before the 9:45 show. (Being able to see this time is a huge priority this trip.)

Please keep us updated about the convention plans.

My family, DW (30), DS(6) and DD (2) will be going to Disneyland June 8th through the 12th. We live in Jacksonville, FL and have obviously been to WDW many times but look forward to seeing the differences between DL and WDW. Bummed about Space Mountain being closed.

My wife and I got plane vouchers on a trip we took January 2013 and figured we'd head to DL since none of us had ever seen it. Really looking forward to the trip as my parents have decided to join us allowing us to stay with them in the Grand Californian Villas with them. Ironically, we will be flying out of Orlando since the tickets were so much cheaper. Really looking forward to the trip and am counting down the days with the kids.:banana:

3 weeks!!

I have three weeks TO THE DAY!

I am actually starting to get a little stressed. :crazy2: May is SUCH a stressful month for my house; school is winding down, DD10 is finishing up softball season and tournaments are upcoming, DD14 is in the middle of her school theater project (learn and put on an entire musical, start to finish, starting on a Monday and presenting on Saturday). DD19 just finished finals week of her freshman year of college (she is SO glad to be done for a little while). It is finally spring in Montana so DH and I are working on planting and landscaping and un-winterizing. I am feeling behind on EVERYTHING. :scared:

Not only have I not even started packing, I still don't even really know what I am taking! Normally, I would not only know what I was taking, but a lot of it would be sealed in zip-lock bags and packed already, I would have already collected all of our toiletries, etc, Mouse-Keeping envelopes would be made, filled, and set aside, ready to go. All of my vouchers, online receipts, etc would be printed and organized in a planning binder along with maps, a touring plan, etc... those vouchers are still hanging out in my email where the different companies sent them to. I am normally the world's most OCD planner when it comes to WDW vacations, this is a new experience for me, not sure I like it. :worried:

Maybe I should go sort my t-shirts...

Sorsha--I'm one day behind you, so we are three weeks and ONE day! But yes, I feel your pain. There is so much to get through before we land in the Happiest Place on Earth. I've got a few papers organized in a file like my Orbitz vouchers for tickets and character meals, plus my PhotoPass+ voucher (which FINALLY came yesterday after 2 whole weeks!). But I still have to do final edits on my Google Drive planning doc and print that out. I also need to study the maps, as it's been a year and I know I need to get my bearings straight.

I still haven't even thought of packing--I still need to buy some Disney-themed clothes for my girls, who have outgrown what we had from last year.

There's still time to catch up, though, and I hope everyone else is enjoying their last planning tasks before our June trips!!!
