~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

Great news! On top of our Spring Break trip the first week of April we've decided that we want to also go to Star Wars weekend. So add another date for us May 23rd through the 26th at the beautiful Polynesian!

I haven't posted in awhile - I can't remember who was debating WL, but just wanted to add we loved our stay there!!

Now that we have bumped our trip up to March, I can't believe how close it is! Seems like just yesterday I was whining about having to wait over 2 years (2 years 2 months, but whose counting, lol)! And now just about 8.5 months left! We are still trying to decide where to stay, but it is looking more and more like it will be CR in the garden wing. I need to hurry up and book - I'm A little worried that if they do poly renovations next year like I've been hearing it might affect cr - as far as people booking there I stead of poly - any thoughts on that?

I have also been thinking through our dining reservations. Hollywood and vine never crossed my mind but now that they are bringing in more if the new characters I am thinking about it. Also thinking CRT, chef mickeys - don't really want to but my oldest has been asking since our last trip when we didn't go there!)' Tusker house, not sure what else. Oh, we want to try the Mexican restaurant at Epcot - cant remember the name - the one by the ride.

And I am still excited for our trip, but I feel like the excitement went down a notch after we decided to move our trip to spring break. I'm so worried about the crowds - we know about getting there at rope drop; we have been spring break before (but it was April a week after Easter) and we've been New Years week - and were fine both times. I don't know why I am worried this time, it will be the last week of March.

Nothing yet. He's been at work since 4 though so I don't think he's really had a chance to look it over. New dates are Jan 27-Feb 3.

In all this resort drama I missed the news I've been waiting for since January; Sofia is coming to DHS!:cool1::cool1::cool1: I've been anxiously awaiting that one, DD is a complete Sofia addict, this is going to make her entire trip. I'm still hoping they put her in the H&V breakfast between now and January but as long as there is somewhere we can meet her it's all good. I've been making the kids clothes here and there and hiding them in the suitcase in my closet to surprise them with when we tell them we're going. Tonight's project was a shirt for her to wear to DHS.

I love the shirt - it's so cute! :goodvibes How much have you made them so far?

I'll get your dates changed. My fingers are still crossed that you get your camping trip. ::yes::

Thanks

Hey you! I was thinking the other day I hadn't seen you post in a while.

8 1/2 months is nothing - I still have over a year! :p And that's if the current plan of going in November holds true (but that changes all the time, so who knows).

As far as Hollywood & Vine ... make sure you read the reviews before you make an ADR there. I've heard some pretty crummy things about it, and I wouldn't want you to regret your decision. :headache:

The Mexican restaurant at EP - are you talking about La Hacienda de San Angel? I think that's what it's called ... :scratchin

Have you checked out the crowd calendars for this past March to see what you might be dealing with? The one for 2014 likely won't be out until September - will you be booking before then?

Once you get under a year I'm sure it will fly by!

Yea, H&V is definitely not set in stone - I know the reviews are terrible! We ate there several years ago - the food was okay, but our service was fine (and quick). The thing for us and DHS is that we usually do quick service, but really haven't found one we just love. If we try again H&V again, we will probably do breakfast - seems harder to mess that meal up! And we would get the FAntasmic! Package - going spring break it will be nice not to have to line up so early (not that we usually do, we don't care about having great seats). And we also will only do it if some of the characters have been updated (Doc and Sofia would be great)! And yes, I believe it is La Hacienda de San Angel! The girls want to eat "by the volcano"!

I have looked at the crowd calendars a little, but the problem is, the week we are looking at for 2014 was Easter week on 2013, so of course the predictions are very high. I know they will still be high bc if spring break, but hopefully not all 10s!

Thanks Friend and Happy 4th to Everyone !!! :cool1:

That would be me! :goodvibes I did decide yesterday to do the split stay (POP and WL). I was actually crunching numbers last night and I may actually be able to do the full stay at WL. It would put me right at top of my budget, but I'm thinking it would be worth it.

I haven't heard any bad reviews for breakfast, if that helps. No one is raving about the food or anything but the general consensus seems to be it's edible and the character interaction is great.

Thanks:flower3: So far I've done a Minnie sundress and a Sofia sundress, a Minnie shirt and skirt, a Figaro shirt and now the Sofia shirt for DD. DS has a Mickey polo, a Lightning McQueen shirt and a Mickey tee so far. I'm waiting for someone to make some Planes designs for him, I know those will be a big hit. We've been counting down to the Planes release since they put a trailer for it on the DVD of Cars 2 a year and a half ago. :headache: I think I'm having more fun planing their wardrobe than anything.

Is there a possibility of a discount during the time you'll be there that may ease your budget a little bit? :goodvibes

Awww! I'd love to see the Sofia sundress if you are inclined to share a pic of it! :teeth: Everything sounds so cute! :goodvibes

When I began planing our 2014 trip to Disney I was positive we were were going in October (and I really wish we still could :(). However as I spoke to the high school two of my children will be attending, pulling them out for vacation is not a possibility - they will fail them for unexcused absenses.

So I began planning for August, the two weeks before they go back to school - August 10-23. I am worried however about the heat in August during this time. We were outside yesterday for the 4th - about 4 hours in the morning (9-1) and then from 4:30-10:00 yesterday afternoon/evening. This is how we would be traveling at the parks if we keep August. By the end of the day yesterday everyone was miserable. So I am again taking a look at our travel dates.

I have to travel on schoool breaks because of the high school situation. I am looking at December 17-28. This puts at Disney during Christmas which is said to be insanely busy. The other option is the week of Thanksgiving and staying until Tuesday of the following week.

This is our first trip to Disney as a family, and probably our last big family vacation. My oldest will be in his second year of college, my daughter will be in her Sr. year of high school, my other high schooler will be a freshman, and my youngest will be first grade.

Anybody have any input that will help me settle on dates. Thank You:confused3

One suggestion would be to go as early as possible in June because its not as terribly humid as August.

Otherwise I would go Thanksgiving week. I have heard its crowded but not as insanely crowded as Christmas. And you would still be there for the decorations.

Does anyone have any advice to offer about choosing AOA family suite or POR? We are trying to decide which resort to stay at for our March trip. We have stayed at POR and loved it, but think we might want to try a family suite. Any suggestions, thoughts or ideas would be helpful.

I will be watching this as well!

We are planning on a split AOA / POR stay because we like both resorts ... But will be paying $300 more for 2 rooms at POR vs just staying at AOA for the entire stay.

If you only need one room though I would go with POR and save (on average) $130 per night.

Curious to hear others opinions!

I agree - June will still be hot but not as bad as August. Are you set on 2 weeks? Could you extend your spring break, just have the kids miss a couple days and stay 10 or so days?
