~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

I was out enjoying the summer weather :) in between the thunder storms! I can see not buying tickets now, it made sense for us with the APs and I have a little extra cash right now so it will just make our trips easier.

I get to book my resort on Tuesday for January! Yay! Hopefully by 9:15 I will know where I am staying!!

Question- have you guys ever thought about renting points?

Yeah I figured thats where most people were today. :goodvibes

I cant wait to see where you end up for January!!

I have thought about renting points a lot actually. In fact I told DH today that we should do that so it locks us into the resort and the dates. The lack of cancellation makes him too nervous.

AoA is great! That is where we stayed this past may. (Cars suite). The Lion king area is cool but it doesn't have it's own pull. If that is something you care about. We loved our cars suite and the cozy cone pool. It was so peaceful.

Yay! Glad you enjoyed it there! No pool is perfect for us. We would rather have a quieter lake view room. :thumbsup2

Valgoof. I know just what you mean about planning everything out. We are going in January and have booked our room through Davids Vacation Club Rental. A great price at AKL. We are also going to use them for 12/14 BWV, 2 rooms. You should check them out for pricing. We know several people who have used them and are very pleased.

On another note, DH and I are going on a little trip just the 2 of us in September. We are staying at the POP, which we really truly love, with or without our kids. Its just so fun there, and the grounds are beautiful, and walking around the lake is so quiet and peaceful. We were able to get the free QSDP, so that was great.

Where ever you decide to stay will be wonderful. Some things to keep in mind of course are how much time will you spend at the resort? To us, that is a big one. If we are only basically sleeping there, we really don't want to spend big money on the resort. If we plan on spending more time at the resort, then by all means we will. But, honestly, renting points for the deluxe, can be the same as a value at times, and less then a moderate.

Great, now I've given you something else to think about.:confused3

We stayed at Pop last year and really liked it. We would stay there again if we could guarantee a king bed. Before that trip, we really thought we were park commandos. Then I got sick and we took breaks (naps) every afternoon. And we liked it and plan to do it again. But that room was tiny for as much time as we ended up being in it. So this trip we want a little more from our resort.

I would love to rent points, but the no cancellation policy freaks out DH. He is a worrywart and would be panicked that something would happen and we would lose the money. I guess I could look into travel insurance.

DH normally hates talking about Disney this far out but today he has been downright chatty. We looked at lots of pictures. He hates the masks at POFQ and doesnt want to stay there now. But he LOVED the look of POR. So that is now a frontrunner, but I said we must rent a car if we stay there. I am still leaning towards AoA for all that space. Or a really good discount or lottery win to make WL or CR work. :goodvibes.

Thanks for listening to all my lunacy today. I would say it wont happen again, but that would be a lie. It takes a village to raise a child and to plan my Disney trip. :rotfl2:

Yay! :cool1:
I can save $75 if I buy tickets now but then I wouldnt get free dining. But there was no fd last Feb, so hopefully I would get a room discount. I asked DH and he said $75 is not much on a Disney trip, so he thinks we should wait. Now I wish I hadnt asked him. :confused3
Bearcatsfan, please put me down for Wilderness Lodge. We will see how long that lasts. :goodvibes

Ok decided to not buy tickets. FP+ is just too much of an unknown. I want to get the tickets from Disney. We might change our dates to Feb 8-15. This means no birthday, but the lower prices put CR back into contention. DH does not want a split stay so I need to choose one resort. I dont know why I feel like I need to get it all decided today when the trip is 8 months away. :lmao:

I am a hot mess today and am talking to myself!! Where is everyone?? So apparently, I have a different idea of our budget than DH does. :lmao: CR is still $500 a night during value season. Yeah, not in the budget. He wants to stay at AoA LK suite because it is new or POFQ because we can book a king room. And then we can have extra money to eat wherever we want without stressing about it. I think I will book AoA when rates are released and then see if discounts change anything.

YAY, we have just booked our 2 week stay for next year, our dates,, October 25th- November 8th staying at AKL :cheer2: :)

:yay: Welcome to the group! I'll get you added to the Oct/Nov lists. :teeth: Feel free to join the conversation and ask any questions you have. :goodvibes

That's exactly what we've been discussing around here!

The hubby likes Port Orleans and getting two rooms --- the kids want the Finding Nemo suite at AOA -- which is actually cheaper than two rooms at Port Orleans AND we'd have a little kitchenette for snacks, quick breakfasts, etc.

Figure we'll wait until the 2014 packages come out later this summer and see!

Oh! And 11 months from today!! Time to dance! :dance3:

I was a hot mess myself this weekend! We have (and had) a complete change of plans this weekend. We went from moving the trip up to this year with my mom's free dining PIN. Decided on the week after Thanksgiving so I figured book over the weekend and my 180 day mark would be today. Called to make the reservations and nothign we wanted was available that week but they had what we wanted the week before Thanksgiving. Called parents to confirm dates were ok, scrambled to make ADR's (got everything I wanted except BOG which wasn't too much of a concern) then waited to evening to confirm with DH the plan changes and went to book later once the kids finally went to bed and stayed out of my hair - then, no values for that week! I guess they booked up from what I was told was available at noon until I called at 9. Booked POR which only had princess rooms which is way off the budget for a trip this year which would include MVMCP and all the extras I want to do. I was going to try calling today to see if any values were availabe because I didn't have too much confidence in the CM (for the pin, she said my mom had to be the lead one which is understanding but then for the other room my dad had to be - which I said last year I booked 3 rooms under a pin and they didn't split it like that) but even after long discussions, it was decided to wait until next year as planned on... We weighed the pros and cons of going forward this year with costing a bit more then planned or waiting until next year - and the pros for waiting really outweighed going this year.
So, we going in August 2014 so I don't have to pull DD out of school. Tentative dates are August 2-9. We're going to plan on AOA unless we can get a decent discount somewhere else.

We'll be there September 21-27
Taking our two year old for his first trip and celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary!
Staying offsite this time at my dad's timeshare. Soooooooooooooooo EXCITED!!

Girl, you were a hot mess today! :rotfl: :lmao:

Well when you put it all together like that!! :rotfl2: I am glad I cant actually book yet so I didnt have to call Disney 5 times yesterday.

You can change my dates though. Feb 7-15. I am pretty sure those will stick.

That's funny that we are debating the same 2 resorts. POR just makes me nervous because it is so big and has multiple bus stops. But DH is not a huge Disney fan and he really liked the pics so I am fine with any resort that makes him happy. :)

I feel your pain!!!! Glad you got it all settled and figured out though. Now you have plenty of time to think about those ADRs. :goodvibes

I have rented points once from a friend of a friend at work but since then he has stopped renting points. How do you find someone who is willing to rent??

Hi everyone! Our 2013 vacation is over.

So that means we are moving on to planning on 2014 trip!!

As of right now we are thinking October 18-25 and we will be staying offsite. Not sure where yet because we just aquired a timeshare from my in-laws and I'm not quite sure how that works yet. Thinking maybe Bonnet Creek, if we can get it.

If I'm planning my trip for February 2014, how soon will I be able to book through Disney? I'm dying to start booking everything. So far the only thing I can book are the plane tickets. Even then, I'm not exactly sure of the dates and I want to make sure I get the best deal. Thanks:)

I know some advertise on the DVC boards here, but there is also David's Rental which I have heard good things about...

From what I've read and heard, that's an awesome time to head down! DGF and I are heading down the 31st of January for 8 nights! As for getting a reservation, you can call and get a room-only reservation for the dates you want, so when the vacation rates come out for 2014, it's only a quick phone call to switch over. Which resort are you looking to stay at?

We are planning a June 8-13 trip! There are 6 of us, so I'm looking at renting DVC points. I'm also hoping there might be some great package deals posted soon!

I've only been in either April/May or October, so this will be a new time to visit:) I decided on February after I checked out the crowd calendar on Undercover Tourist. I wanted a time of year the wasn't super hot and not during a school vacation.Lol I'd rather pull my kids from school for a week then deal with the outrages crowds.

I'm looking at staying at either Pop or ASMovies. My oldest wants the latter because he likes what he saw online. I've heard a lot of people rave about Pop. From the layout to the food court. I've heard it's a bigger resort with a larger layout, but I don't really want to fight with the long bus lines for the AS resorts at night. Unless they put in separate bus stops for each resort before we go.Lol

We have thought about renting points - and usually once we decide a date it is pretty firm, but I am also too worried about the no cancellations.

DH and I have also been going back and forth about resorts recently. I had an idea to rent a camper and stay at Ft. Wilderness. It looks like so much fun, but the cabin set up want work for us. I found a place that rents out really nice campers from 699-899 a week, just depending on what you choose, and them add about $100 a night for the campground. DH thought it looked funnel today he said he wanted to stay at WL again - which is great and all but I'm not sure of he realizes he pricey it will be since there is a good possibility we won't be able ton stay in a standard room (depends on our dates and whether or not our youngest has turned 3 yet or not)
