~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

Also, my October plans I will post them later :) trying to figure them out 100% because my ADR day is Tuesday! My January plans are coming along as well they are a bit vague so maybe I will post them right now.

Dates
Jan 4-11

AKV - I haven't decided on Jambo or Kidani 1 bed.... If my MiL want to come definitely Kidani for the 2nd bathroom.... Because of our point use for the Oct trip and future trips thinking Standard view....

Things I want to do.
-Pirates League for oldest daughter (she will be 4)
-pirates and pals fireworks cruise
-CRT breakfast
-BOG dinner
-Jiko dinner
-Boma breakfast

If we can I also want to try and see Osbourne Lights if they are still up, and decorations at the resorts. We will have APs ( anticipate a Dec trip with extended family) Also hoping my daughter hits 40" so we can ride some of the bigger rides!

Kinda :) thank you, he earned it. It was a huge surprise though- like everything changed in just a few days. We didn't anticipate this for at least a year or two. Yeah basically DH and I would swap locations but for PT work the 100 miles is just too much and my kids are not in daycare and I didn't plan on that (Reason why I went PT to begin with)

I really wanted to move somewhere warmer! We will probably be here for a few years now, but will most likely need to move with in the year. So this year we don't have to work as hard getting the house ready, we can paint at our leisure and keep working on the details. The good thing is we dumped all the money we want to into the house and can now have it allayed off 100% (granted we were frugal and the balance is not bad, love interest free credit, they have yet to make a dime on me!)

Yes can not wait for June! A week with family and the beach... :yay:

Haha normally I don't. I guess it's just the response I have gotten from the few people I mentioned it too... I did share with DH that it wasn't not an easy choice for me. However his concern for me makes me not want to say more!

Sharing with you guys has helped me immensely, and I'm realizing that I may need to diversify even more!

All in all, it's a good choice, I'm grateful, and we earned it. I think I'm done now! I guess I needed someone to listen and say "I get it" Thanks guys :)

When I was a SAHM, my sanity was a mom's group. I googled my area. You may be surprised on the number of groups that may be in your area.

I agree - find a moms group! I know it is hard - I resigned from teaching when my oldest had just turned 2 and now I stay home with all 3. I loved staying home, I still do, but it is hard work!! It is hard to juggle the family, finances and feel like I am Doing all I want with the kids as well. After 5 years of staying home I really started questioning my sanity lol. I needed more interaction with adults so I started subbing at the preschool. Money isn't great but it's something and I feel good about what I'm doing and it also made me realize how lucky i am to stay home and that I still want to continue to stay home with the girls a few more years.

Looks like you have a lot planned out for January already. :thumbsup2 I'll keep my fingers crossed the Osborne lights are still up for you - I have no clue when those come down.

I'm definitely going to look into something. Not a 100% sure what yet. DH suggested yoga, and I'm already looking at taking my daughter gymnastics and such. I was thinking about finding an organization I could volunteer for that be more like "working"... Also thinking about making more of a few of my hobbies. We will see. :) I just need something flexible due to my husbands hours....

It's more the stuff I knew we didn't have time for on our last trip ;) I think they come down around the 6th so it will definitely be hit or miss with Osbourne Lights. I'm not sure if its a date they go with or a specific day of the week (jan 6th vs the first sat in Jan....) hopefully though - I also hope we don't see too many ride closures....

Well I missed a lot today!! Sarah. Change can be hard, even if it is a positive one. Hope you find something that fulfills that desire to work. Ok work is the wrong word, since you will be working as a SAHM. :goodvibes. But still, congrats to DH for the promotion. :thumbsup2.

Thanks :) I know what you mean - I don't see my kids as work (even though they are) it's just different. So I'm thinking at least for a little bit I might have some free time to Dis more! ;)

This is always a good thing! ::yes:: :goodvibes

Thanks I guess it's sort of frustrating because it seems that people don't think I'm giving up something. I have worked hard, and even though I have been part time for 3 years, I have positioned myself to transition into a leader role again as soon as I want... Hmmm strategic planner yes! and it's hard, I have many mom friends who have to work, and I know I am fortunate for this opportunity, and thankful, I hate showing DH that I'm upset in the slightest (i dont want to shadow his achievement) So I guess I'm in a spot where I can't talk about it much, don't want to complain to working moms, a lot of my SAHM friends don't understand, and I'm realizing there isn't many in the middle!! So thank you again

Oh honey, complain away. I completely get it. I started watching my sister's kids when I was 8 months pregnant with my 1st and 5 years later here we are. Most playgroups and kids places were just overwhelming with 3 under 3 and by the time the oldest matured a little bit and I thought we could start getting out we started facing the issues with my nephew being diagnosed as autistic and then baby #2 made her appearance. Even when I did feel like I could handle everyone in public there were a lot of groups that made it clear that my nephew wasn't really welcome so we sat at home a lot and slowly lost our minds. Over the last 5 years I've watched my sister and BIL and DH get new jobs, get promoted, travel for work, get recognized professionally and there's always a tiny bit of sadness that everyone can do these things because I sacrificed that part of my life. For me going back to school last year was my outlet. It's only one class a semester right now but I needed something that was only for me and was completely separate from the kids and from being a SAHM. I still need to be Rachel, not just mom.

Howdy everyone, never thought I would be planning a vacation for over a year in advance but I have wanted to do a RunDisney event for awhile now and decided that 2014 Tower of Terror 10 Miler was perfect for my first one. Would do it this year but will be at DL. Of course I can't book anything yet till the dates are set but planning a stay at SSR (my DVC home resort and I have yet to stay there) Really looking forward to this trip, Oct is my fave time of year at WDW

Welcome to the group!! Sounds like a great trip! Well, except for the running part. :rotfl2:

Why are we both up so early on a Sat morning?? It is supposed to be nice here, so I guess I have plenty of time to get outside. :thumbsup2

Hello, and :welcome: to the group! I'll get you added to the list. Once your details are final, be sure to post so I can update.

I think I'm going to have to give up BOG. :( My husband and I had one and I had of those rare mornings where we both woke up before the kids so we had a budget discussion over coffee. One of the topics was how much we're planning to have saved vs.how much of that we want to spend. We're both in agreement that the goal is to have this trip paid off before Christmas and keep a decent sized cushion in the vacation fund for emergencies or as a head start towards the birthday trip in 2015. The best way to cut back is through dining. We're skipping the dining plan, other than DH no one eats enough to make it worth it so we're paying OOP. We want to keep Chef Mickey's, H&V breakfast, 1900 PF and either CRT or the other princess breakfast (the name escapes me right now) because part of our "touring strategy" is to knock out the character meet and greets at meals so we don't have to use park time for them. I do want to have lunch at LoF at least once and I'm planning Trails End for breakfast the day we go. Everything else will either be eaten in the room or we'll pack a lunch to take with us. I did a quick estimate and by losing BoG and the random quick service places I wanted to try and adding in the cost of groceries we're still saving almost $400 by doing it that way.

Of course, all of this is assuming no free dining for February. If we get FD then all bets are off.:goodvibes

Thank you for the welcome, I was searching on the board for info on the ToT 10miler and ran across this thread. I for some reason was up early but ended up going back to bed.

On the ToT 10 miler, I am not generally a "runner" but I went to WDW with a friend who was running the 2012 half marathon and decided I want to do one when I quit smoking as a reward and think the ToT one is perfect since Oct for some reason turned out to be the main time I go on vacation (Oct 2010, Oct 2012 and will be doing Oct 2013) and of course planning Oct 2014.

Also booking 4 days at Vero Beach for DD and I May 24-28th 2014 as a end of Kindergarten trip.

Planning on doing a split vac between Universal/IOA (the dark side) and WDW in Oct

I look forward to read other people's trip plans that love planning wayyyyyy in advance like me lol

We've never stayed on-site without FD, but in 2014 we're foregoing the dining plan altogether as well. I don't eat enough to justify it - my husband does, but it's waaaay too much food for me. :crazy2:

I think ToT 10-miler is the perfect reward for quitting smoking! Have you already stopped? If so, good for you! I know it's hard - most of my family smokes and I've watched them struggle with it for years.

You're definitely on the right thread for early planners - we've all been chatting for months and months already now! Look forward to getting to know you! :teeth:

Hi everyone. I have started planning my family vacation since earlier this month. It will be my youger sisters first time plus my kids. We already have 10 people going. Myself 26, husband 26, my step-daughter 7, my son 5, my mom and dad, hopefully my grandma that lives in florida, my sister, her husband and 2 yr old, and my other sister.

I have decided that we are going in July of 2014 not really for sure about the dates yet. We are going to stay with my grandma during our trip.

It has been a very long time since i have been to WDW. :yay:

Hello, and :welcome: to the group, and to the DIS! Glad you decided to join us!

Once you get the dates figured out, just post them so I can update you on the list, okay? :goodvibes

Jump on in and start chatting so we can get to know you! :hyper2: If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Fingers crossed for FD for all of us!!! :goodvibes. I agree it is a lot of food. We rarely eat dessert when we go out, so usually DH wouldnt order one and would share mine because I had to order it since it was included. :) I loved the convenience of having it paid for and just budgeting for tips. I will crunch the numbers for deluxe too, because I really want to do Cali Grill and Hoop De Doo. But I could do OOP and just do a couple TS meals, if the budget calls for it. I havent gotten that far in the planning yet.

thank you so much. I do actually have one question. We are going to WDW for only 3 days. What would be the first place to go? :confused3

I have to work around a few schedules to actually find out the dates. There is two dates that i have in mind though. the week of July 11th-16th which going to WDW on the 14-16, or the 25th-30th and going to WDW on 28th-30th. Which dates would be better for the crowd not to be the highest. I know its during the summer so i figured that it wouldn't really matter wich week we went.
