~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

Yay!! You need a ticker!! I tried for a solo trip this fall again today, but DH is just not hopping onboard. That's why I made a ticker, so I can get it in my head that I am not going this year. Here's some pixiedust for you!! pixiedust:

The solo trip is still in the "talking stage". My husband won't get completely onboard, either. I keep telling him I'm a big girl, I think I can take care of myself just fine! :teeth: I don't know what he's so afraid of, but I keep assuring him everything will be a-okay if I go alone. :p

Why isn't the solo thing happening for you? Maybe we should get together and gang up on our husbands and make them let us go! Stage a revolt!

I did *finally* get the okay for the Fall trip next year, so I guess I could make a ticker for that. :scratchin

Keep sending the solo trip pixie dust - I'll take all I can get! :headache:

All thing NOT being relative, I booked our 2014 vacation over the weekend on Disney.com . I booked 9/16-9/26 (2013) @ AoA with the DDP. Once the 2014 dates and rates become available I will switch my trip over to the actual 2014 dates. There is something about having that 8 digit Confirmation number. $250 down, $3215.45 to go. :cool1:

Congrats!!

Happy Easter!

So in my infinite wisdom I gave away our last stroller this weekend, did a little happy dance of my own (it's been 5 years, I'm was thrilled to see it go) and then realized last night that the not quite 4 year old might actually need that in the parks. :headache: So I guess I'm looking into renting one, I'm pretty sure my husband would have a heart attack if I went and bought another stroller.

I need opinions: park stroller or rental company? I don't think she's going to need one for AK, we're going there on our arrival day and after sitting on the plane I'm sure she'll need to burn off some energy by walking. We're going to want one at Epcot for sure, I plan on taking my time in WS. HS is a maybe. MK is a maybe. We do plan on taking breaks during the day. The rental company strollers are so much nicer but it means having to carry a folded stroller on a possibly crowded bus. The park strollers are severely lacking in storage space but I can give them back at the end of the day, no hauling them to and from the parks.

Not having children, I can't give you any opinion whatsoever ... just wanted to say Happy Easter to you! :flower3: Hopefully someone will come along soon to weigh in on your stroller question. :teeth:

Well, with breaks my 3.5 year old didn't need to ride in the stroller. We occasionally made her because it was easier (had a double because I also have a 1.5 year old) We did shoulder rides as well.... If you don't think she will want to ride in one maybe just go with a park stroller. However, I have an I inexpensive umbrella style stroller (rarely use double stroller....) that I don't mind lugging around. It's light weight, has just enough storage and does the job! (It's an Amy Coe from TRU) I've taken many strollers to WDW and I can't wait for our Jan trip - where the single stroller returns!

We rented from Orlando stroller. We didn't have any problems. The stroller was waiting for us when we got there, and we just dropped it off on our way to ME when we left. My youngest will be 5 when we go next, I'm trying to decide if we will need one. We'll probably end up renting one again though.

What about just asking a friend of you could borrow one? That would save you some money. I know I am more than happy to lend out our Disney stroller (a sit and stand that we NEVER use, except at Disney, lol)! I am so ready to get rid of it, but have decided to hang onto it until after our 2014 trip (just in case our 5 year old needs to take a break).

I think DH is afraid I will have too much fun without him. Either that or I will get lost and not find the bus back to the resort. I do have a really bad sense of direction. :lmao: We spent a couple hours apart last year and it was nice, but kinda weird too. I told him I didnt like when I came out of the restroom and no one was waiting for me. :goodvibes. But there are restaurants I would like to try that DH wants no part of and I would love to spend more time in WS. Maybe someday, but not this year.

I LOVE this idea!!! I may be copying you this week. :thumbsup2

I so feel your pain! :headache: There are tons of restaurants I'd like to try without my husband - he's kind of a picky eater, doesn't like spicy food. :rolleyes2 And yeah, I too think he's afraid of how much fun I'll have laying by the pool with my drink and not thinking about what's going on here at home. :p

I'm a little closer today in my quest for a solo trip, so the pixiedust must be working. ::yes::

Looking forward to hearing opinions as youngest DD will be 3 1/2 next August and I am wondering if a stroller will be necessary. She's my runner which I'm hoping is just a phase and I won't have to worry about that next year so a stroller won't become necessary. :rotfl2: However, the heat in August has me a little concerned so maybe just taking a simple stroller might be an option too.

I do plan on not using the stroller as much this summer when we go to the parks, zoo, etc just to see how she does. Kids change so much over a few months I can't imagine how she will actually be next summer.

I have a ticker!!

After a long talk I decided we should wait until next November for sure. (Nov. 1 to 8 are tentative dates). DH mentioned going this Nov but I want to be able to attend both MNSSHP and MVMCP in addition to other activities so I think if we wait a year it will be much easier (lots of home improvements this year and still need to buy DS a big boy bedroom!). So with both parties and of course BBB and now adding PL for DS since he'll be old enough with who knows what else, I said wait until next year and we'll go all out for one big fun filled trip! And my parents will be able to joint us :)

It will be so nice - no more diapers and only 1 stroller - although he'll be 4 1/2 so we probably won't even need it that much (for th estroller question - we used it for DD last year at 4 1/2 and it was nice to have when she tired out or trying to manage thru parade/fireworks crowds)

Oh, and still leaning towards the pirate room at CBR since last 2 trips have been overloads of princesses for DD (Even staying in AOA LM rooms)

As for strollers...I think a BIG part of whether or not to use them with older (3 and up) kids is the pace you want in the park. We have 3 girls, the youngest just turned 2 so she is in a stroller, but I'm sure she will follow the same path her olders sisters did and be out of it soon. My oldest 2 were so over the stroller by the time they were 2.5. Never used one EXCEPT at Disney, and for the most part they were/are fine with it. Yes, they walked some, but I also think they enjoyed being able to sit in the stroller and really look around and take everything in. We also had long days and wanted the girls to be able to keep up. My oldest sat in a stroller (off and on) on the trip when she was 5 ~ prior to that time trip it had been a good 2.5 years since she used a stroller (excpet at WDW). Had we not had a double stroller, that wouldn't have even been an option, but I'm glad we had it; we are keeping it just for our next disney trip so that our middle (who will be 5 at the time) can have that option too. I know we will be using a stroller for our youngest, so why not just bring the double/sit and stand.

Yay for a ticker! :yay: I updated your dates on the list.

Congrats to your DS on his big boy bedroom! How exciting! :woohoo:

Okay, you all inspired me to go ahead and make a ticker, even though nothing is set in stone yet. I went with the Oct. 18th date ... I wonder how many times I'll have to change it?!

Now if I could just get the okay on the solo trip ... :dance3:

Congrats on your choice. That is the sweet spot. You get to go to sleep 1 night and and see Halloween decorations, and the next day, there are wreaths on the lamp posts. Also, you will be there for the tail end of the F&W Fest. Bon appetit

We've been there for halloween the past 2 years so I wanted Christmas time but DD always talks how much fun it is to trick or treat at Disney and with seeing her school schedule for next year, this works for the best week - meant to be I guess :)

It seems like such a long way off but I know we'll have plenty to do in the next year and a half - in the next month alone we're busy with b-days (DD is the 17th (will be 5!) and DS will be 3 on 5/3 so in between we'll have a party - this year they picked Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme so that will be fun to do!

I think one year we will have to do this too :) F&W, Halloween and the early starts of Xmas :)

Thank you for the insight. :goodvibes I'm sure I will change my mind a million times before next year, but until I decide how we will tour (all day, late nights, etc) I won't be able to make a decision. It does help reading other's experiences.

I had a wonderful thought this a.m. too...my oldest was fully potty trained just before 3. DD1 will be 3 1/2 when we go so I'm hoping we will be done with diapers also. One less bulky item to pack!! :cool1:

Would you (or anyone else with experience with little ones) be able to share the type of touring you did? I.E. EMH's? Late nights? Park hopping?? We are going late August so the heat is a big concern.

Thanks! :hippie:
