~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

Dunes Village is nice!! We stayed there in December of last year for an extended weekend. Kids loved the indoor waterparks (there are two) although the youngest was disappointed it was too cold for the ocean!

You can't beat the location! Dunes Village is just a few minute's drive from Broadway on the Beach, and there's so much to do there (aquarium, restaurants, etc.).

Happy planning!

Thank you! :flower3:

We're going in February! Going with my niece, nephew, and grandkids!!

I see you found the link! :welcome: to the group! Glad you decided to join us!

I know you said in the other thread you have booked already - where are you staying and what are your dates? Celebrating anything special?

If you have questions about anything, please do not hesitate to ask. :goodvibes

FYI: For those of you who have been waiting for official information on the 2014 WDW Marathon Weekend and the 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend, I have good news! Links to runDisney and dates for these events can now be found in Post #2! pixiedust:

Good luck to those who are planning to enter! :cheer2:

Is the Tinkerbell marathon new? I knew there was the regular marathon/half marathon in Jan; and then the princess marathon, but I didn't realize there was a Tinkerbell one, too...

Nevermind...just checked it out and realized it is in Disneyland!! I still would really love to do the princess half ~ maybe one day!

OOPS! You're right! I got so caught up in all the various runDisney events at WDW that I didn't even check the location! I feel quite stupid now! ::yes::

So glad you posted this - thank you! I'll take it off list. :bitelip:

LOL, don't feel stupid!! I just figured it was another race at WDW ~ seems like there are a lot of them!

There is a quite a few marathons, half marathons, 10 milers etc... I can't keep them all straight!

Thanks - you both made me feel better! :flower3: I was just sitting there on runDisney, copying all the various races to put them on Post#2 and I was like, "How did I miss this one?" I guess it's because it is at DLR and not WDW. DUH! :lmao: Oh well!

We are switching from AoA to Windsor Hills!!

I'll get your info changed on the list! :teeth:

I'm still no closer to deciding where we'll stay in 2014. :confused3 Now that I'm working on two different vacations in two different places, it's getting kind of confusing.

For example, yesterday, my husband decided he did not want to stay at Dunes Village in Myrtle Beach - now he wants to stay at Sea Watch instead because we can get a condo where the bedroom has a sliding door to the balcony. I'm not sure why this is important, but whatev. Thank goodness I hadn't booked at DVR yet or we'd be out money! :rolleyes2 Add to that trying to find two other hotels (one for our drive down and one for the drive back) and things have been just a little stressful lately! :smokin:

Also, for the 2014 trip to WDW, I thought we were 100% decided on staying offsite. I've been researching offsite places, pros and cons and pricing on each, etc. Well ... we were talking a few days ago about how pretty POR is ... and we'd hopefully be able to get a room in the Mansions buildings ... and how much we love the landscaping over there ... ::yes:: So I spent the entire day yesterday pricing a few Mods out, including POR ... and basically today, we're no closer to deciding than we were before. :faint:

I was talking to my husband about some of the resort amenities at one of the Mods at WDW yesterday, and he goes, "Now ... is this the place in Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle?" :confused3 :rotfl: See what I mean? :crazy2:

I'll be lucky if I have one hair still clinging to my head by the time both these trips are over. :surfweb:

Joining in!! I love chatty threads! :goodvibes
DH and I went in Dec 2011 (offsite) and Dec 2012 (Pop). I begrudgingly agreed we would take a few years off to go other places, so our next trip was planned for Feb 2016. I was able to talk my way into moving it to Feb 2015. We thought we would try a different time of year, but still keep coolish weather and lowish crowds. Out of the blue this week, DH brings up the trip and says he thinks we should go in Dec again since we LOVE the Castle Lights and the Osborne Lights. I agreed, but asked, which year? He says, well we cant go this year ( I just started a new job 2 weeks ago), so lets go Dec 2014.:banana: Ok, I know that was long, but trust me, that was a major moment for me. DH likes Disney, but he doesnt quite love it like I do. So we will be going either the week after Thanksgiving or the 2nd week of December. I have no idea where we are staying. DH would love to stay at CR until he realized how much it is. I want to stay there or WL. We will have to see how the saving goes for the next few months. I think we will end up booking POR or POFQ. I just showed pictures to DH tonight and that is his pick now. Much more budget friendly. :thumbsup2 Maybe we will stay deluxe for a couple nights at the end of the trip.
I read the whole thread, but didnt want to comment on old stuff. I love sharing my opinion, so I cant wait to chat about everyone's plans.

You're right! However ... today my husband decided he's not so sure he wants to go to Myrtle Beach at all. :confused3 Maybe stay more local instead. I'm telling you guys, I'm going to lose my mind.

Congratulations on your new job. pixiedust:

WL is beautiful, isn't it? I've always wanted to stay there, but I'm so with you on the $$$ thing. :scared: POR and POFQ are beautiful (we stayed at FQ our last trip) - I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. :goodvibes

Once you get your plans more hammered out, make sure you post so I can get you added to the list. Until then, feel free to jump in and join the conversation! ::yes::

Oh and by the way ..... O-H! Sorry, I couldn't help myself ... :rolleyes1

We are switching from AoA to Windsor Hills!!

You will LOVE Windsor Hills! :thumbsup2

My kids really wanted to stay at AOA, too -- they love the theme! But when we crunched the numbers, we'd be crammed into a "suite" smaller than the family room in our house and paying $5000 to do so! Add in travel expenses, spending money, dining expenses, etc and it was over $8500.

Instead, we'll have a 3 bedroom townhouse with a full kitchen and private splash pool for around $6000 for everything.

You can't beat it.

Lot's of friends on here from Ohio :)

Sorry though, I'm not a Buckeye's fan --raised a Wolverine fan by a father who grew up in Michigan :) (although DH has worked hard to change that - both DD and DS go around yelling Go Bucks to me all the time!)

I'm so excited right now. After setting in stone last week our date, location, and time that we're going. My daughter started asking about rides. When we went for her 4th birthday she was bummed to not be able to go on all the rides. She loved Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. So as we talked this weekend she asked about that big scary hotel (Tower of terror) and then said are there any coasters that go upside down. I said of course. Dad will I be tall enough. I measured and sure enough she meets the requirements now. So she'll be more than fine next Nov. She was sooooo happy. I can't wait. She'll be coming on everything with me.

Trying to book AKV Savannah view for my DD's 18th birthday. Am having no luck whatsoever with renting points through rental agencies. Also, my DD wanted to stay on Universal for 2 days to see WWoHP (she's a HP nut). I called for months, since August 2013 and they said they weren't booking rooms yet for 2014. Then I had recent surgery and missed a 5 day window (surgery took me out of commission). Now I call and they are full. I am so very disappointed because it's her 18th birthday and her graduation from high school gift and she really wants AKL savannah view and to see WWoHP. her birthday is the first week in January, I know crazy crowds, crazy busy. So, I have been trying to be proactive and not find myself in this situation. I can't afford to pay WDW price for AKL, so I'm still hoping for DVC rental to come through. I am trying to use AoA LM as a back up, but as yet it looks like you can't book 2014 rooms. I'm afraid I will lose out on those as well. Does anyone know when 2014 rooms will open up for booking? Any tips on how to get into a room at Universal onsite or hope on getting rental for DVC room at AKL?:worship:
