The Official 2013 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Thread

Sweet! Thanks!

Bib #33

Uncle. I give, you win. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Had a LOUSY 4 miler yesterday, mostly due to speedwork. :headache: Apparently, the knees aren't very happy taking on that kind of workload, but at least I was able to trot out the last 1.5 with minimal pain. No worries though, I'll keep at it, but just try to find a better way to work in the sprints without feeling like a 90 year-old woman. Looking forward to Friday's 7 miler near the Land of the Mouse! :cool1: :woohoo: :mickeyjum For any of you running the ToT this weekend, good luck! :dance3::dogdance::tongue:

What does everyone have planned for this weekend? :beach:

I think I will run a 5k trail run then try my hand going D-O-W-N to run a small little 10 mile race.

Hopefully an easy 5 miler Friday, and a long 12 miler on Sunday.

Yikes, 5 weeks until "check in". Time went by soooooo fast!

Well, today was my turn to take a spill. UGH! I twisted my ankle that had been sore, got a nice egg on my knee which is stiffening up (UGH UGH!) and some nice cuts and scrapes. My first thought when I went down was I broke it...I'm done! :scared: But once I got up and walked it offer a bit I was able to start up a small jog to get home, just with some blood dripping from various spots, LOL! What a mess! But the good news is I think I will be ok and without any further injuries should be fully recovered well before the race. I just want to get through this! :hyper:
Thanks for letting me vent! ;)

It's a short run week for me. I have a charity 5K on Saturday that I'll use as my "4 miles". My awesome pace yesterday has settled itself into my quads and I am sore, sore, sore today. Glad I'm not doing anything long.

My next two long runs will be 11 and 13.1 and then it's race day!

I checked out the bib #'s for DH and I and I am confused. Neither of us submitted our 10K time in time (the event was Sept 7) so we both had our estimated finish time at the minimum allowed without a proof of time. I got bib #11135 and DH got #8874:confused3. Now, we both have times that we can submit at the runner relations booth at the expo, but will that change anything? My 10K time is 1:10:20.8 and DH's is 57:22.5. I would assume that our current corral assignments are not the same and that mine is WAY in the back:rotfl2:, but will our 10K times change that? I know that he would have to move back if we are not assigned the same corral, so I guess my question is, will my 10K time be likely to move me up?

Switching topics...my iPhone got fried yesterday:headache: and the replacement won't be available until tomorrow:headache::headache:...and I'm coming into my 4-day work weekend so I was *supposed* to do a 4-5 mile run today. Well that ain't happening with no music and no Nike+ app. If I'm going to run, I want to get *credit* for it;). So, I guess I will hope to maybe do a couple 2-3 mile runs after work this weekend if it doesn't get too dark on me. I don't get home until 7:30 so I will have to really hustle to get 3 miles in before it is completely dark. I've given up on the pre-dawn runs because a) they aren't as good as my later runs and b) we're getting into the home stretch now and I don't want to start back up with going to bed at 8 so I can be up at 3:30 to run. I'm going to try and start running after work more often, and inside when our gym stays open until 10pm.

I have a Rock & roll half this weekend...sort of looking forward to it, sort of not. Ah well. :confused3

I took a spill last weekend with about 0.5 miles to go in my run, but luckily I just came away with a few scrapes (and lots of embarrassment...it happened right after I'd crossed a busy-ish intersection in my town so probably about 10 people saw :crazy2:). Sounds like you're on the mend...whew! Take it easy for a few days!

I'd take your time to the booth and see what they have to say...why not? Submitting a time is likely better than not submitting one at all.

Take both proofs of time and you will both move up. You DH will more than likely end up in a faster corral still, but he can always move back to your corral.

With regards to you iPhone and no music issue, I challenge you to run naked (err no phone). Just go out and run. You may only make a half mile, you may run 5. Go slowly at first to get a feel for your legs and breathing then zone into your inner self and run. If you get past the I cant run without issues in the first 10 minutes, you may have an incredible run. Worth a try.

I love the Nike+ app. I ended up buying the GPS Sportwatch. While I still run when I forget my watch or forget to charge it, I hate not getting credit for the miles. I am definitely a "mile collector". Hey whatever works, right? :thumbsup2

My quads are screaming at me too from Sunday's race. I am really hoping that it was the downhills, the speedy pace, and the fact that I'm also sick that had me feeling so miserable during my run last night. Otherwise, I have NO idea how I'm going to do the Glass Slipper in Feb!

I think I will run a 5k trail run then try my hand going D-O-W-N to run a small little 10 mile race.

I second this! I thought I was for sure a goner last month when my ipod died in the middle of my 8-miler. I thought, no WAY could I manage 3-4 miles with no music. I shocked myself and was able to do it. I sang a LOT in my head, but I got through it. Think of it as another type of training, similar to having to deal with something unexpected during a race. You will figure out how you will persevere - how you will cope. And then when you get through it - you will know you can conquer the unexpected and not be so worried about perfect weather, course crowding, etc.

Good luck at the ToT Coach! Have fun! :) :thumbsup2

As for me - this week is a "short" run weekend, 5 or 6 miles. Then it's two more long runs (with a short in between) and taper! yikes! We're SO close! I for one cannot WAIT to get to Florida. :yay::yay::yay:

Woo Hoo!! Our DME envelope came today!!:cool1: Oddly, there is no information in there about the MagicBands. I was under the impression that, when everything is finalized, the MagicBands would serve as your voucher for the motorcoach. It probably won't be ready by early November though.

The next thing for me to stalk the mailbox for is our MagicBands:rotfl2:.

Very cool! I've been wondering when my DME stuff would come. Hopefully soon!

I know I am on wrong thread, the rumor of a new late spring race has been bounced around. I found through a well placed connection here in a local 5k that CA, FL and FRA definitely get race... but it was not clear if the two domestic races would be 2014 or 15. FRA is 2015, if everything stays on schedule.

I am fairly certain the Spring 2014 will be the new FLA race. The Everest race disappeared from the race program. It has been practice for a race to fall off a program before the race either dies or is replaced. My guess, a Star Wars half in the same time frame as the the Expedition Everest.

Corral placements are up too. It's interesting that they have the times listed. There are also many more corrals than last year!

Grrrrrr! I knew it! My 10k on Sunday predicts a 2:30 finish. That will move me from H toG. Had I run just a min or :30 faster I would probably have been able to move to F. So after busting my butt to shave nearly 8 min off my best 10k time, I would have been ok if I had just taken day, 3 min off.

Well, c'est la vie. Guess ill either work on a sub 2:30 wine and dine finish or find another 10k before dec 1 princess deadline. Hmmm. Or just pray for cooler temps (my aim was to start as early as possible to avoid the sun and heat in feb).

I really hope I get to move up with my 10 mile last week from L to G. Thats a 25 minute difference in start time

Wow! Congrats, that's a big jump!

My start time is 38mins ahead of my DW. ... Catch-22

To try to PR or to sleep on the couch...

:confused3

I didn't submit a time when I registered so my current # is 14320 or something else super high putting me in the absolute last coral. My predicted finish time from my 10-miler is 2:41 so that should hopefully move me up to Coral G and a 10:15 start vs Coral I and a 10:40 start.

LOL at your dilemma. I say go for the PR but I don't know your wife.
