The Official 2007 Candlelight Processional Thread

I saw Chita Rivera live on Broadway last year and she was amazing. She danced in heels while singing and narrating the 90 minute autobiographical performance. For someone 75 years old she looks incredible. She got a well deserved standing ovation. I thought she was really interesting to listen too as well as to watch. My guess is she will be great in the Processional.

Thank you!! I wasn't sure if she would be too over the top. You have calmed my nerves some :)

Just wanted to add my thank you, also. I'd originally booked Dec. 13 because of Neil Patrick Harris. When Rivera was announced as a replacement, I tried to switch my ressie to Dec. 14 but absolutely nothing was available at any of the restaurants, nothing, nada, zilch. Even considered just cancelling altogether but I truly enjoy the CP. I know who Chita Rivera is and wasn't sure she'd be what I hoped for. I decided that it's Disney, it's the CP and I'm pretty blessed to be there so I'm ready for my evenin' with Chita! Hope everyone has a very magical time!

I'm confused-was Neil Patrick Harris originally supposed to be on Dec. 13? I thought he was always scheduled for the very beginning of the month. Has anyone ever seen him, and if so, how is he? I'm so glad I get to see him, but that's because I really love his ABC comedy, "How I Met Your Mother".

Yup, he was originally scheduled for the dates that now feature Chita Rivera. His dates were changed over a month ago, I think. Hope you enjoy his performance, I think he'll be great!

Another little bit of info on Chita Rivera. Chita played Anita in the Broadway version of West Side Story in the late 1950s. Rita Moreno, another of this year's Processional Narrators, played the role of Anita when West Side Story was made into a film in 1961.

The most memorable song Anita's character sings and dances is "America". This is Rita Moreno from the movie - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QS7wWzwak4

This is Chita Rivera singing and dancing the same song and "All That Jazz" from Kennedy Center Tonight" 1982 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_y3LEhp494

Where do you get the CD? Do they sell a different one each year in Epcot?
I would love to get one when we are there Dec. 16-19.

They sell them at the kiosk right in front of the American Adventure, and also in the gift shop there. It keeps me going, and getting excited about attending once again!

WOW! That's all I can say, just WOW! She's amazing. Wasn't even breathing hard after singing and dancing her way through those songs. I guess for some people like Chita, 75 is the new 35.
Thanks for posting this!

We booked last year before they annnounced narrators for our dates, I was afraid if we had waited the packages would be gone, so last year we had Chita and she cancelled. We got Mario Lopez instead. You still might not have an evening with Chita! FWIW I was very disappointed when she was going to be there until I read up on her to see who she was, then I was more disappointed when they changed it to Mario Lopez because I was looking forward to Chita (West Side Story is a classic!). He did OK, I mean it is the CP after all, and wonderful...but if we had known the narrators sooner we would have waited for Brian Dennehy a couple days later. We stopped and watched him from the walkway...I could just catch glimpses of him through the people in the theater! :)

Once again this year we were booked quite a while before our dates went from TBD to Neil Patrick Harris. Looking forward to seeing him! Doo-gie! Doo-gie! Doo-gie!

Your welcome!!!!:) I am not sure how reliable the information is but I did see on one website that Chita Rivera was the narrator for 12/11-12/13 but the WDW website has not confirmed that information yet. I have a number of CP packages booked but I probably won't keep them all. I have been fortunate enough to book the nights with the popular TBD narrator.
I booked 12/04 with Dennis Franz but I am staying offsite that night so I thought if other great narrators were added I would just cancel that one but right know he is sounding pretty good: I am hoping maybe Le Var Burton or James Avery would take one of the TBD dates. Most of the really good narrators are already booked for dates I won't be there. I am traveling solo so I am willing revolve my park days around a good CP narrator ( yes I love it that much!!It truly is one of the highlights of my trip!!!!)Thanks again for the great job you have done on this very busy thread!!!!Your awesome !!!!!:)

Hopefully you will get to see somebody you really like. :)

I try to keep up with it and keep it up to date, but I am so busy at work right now, it is hard. I think I am updating once a week, sometime bi-monthly. :( I don't post as much as I used to. :) I will be so glad when work slows down...or when I am on vacation and I can forget about it for 2 weeks.

We have a 2:00 reservation at Garden Grill for the 5:00 show. This is our families first time to be at WDW with all of the holiday festivities and we are very excited. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
