Ok so this thread is made for all dancer where we can talk about what types of dance we take etc... I recently quit tap, and hip-hop and am down to Ballet and Jazz but yeah we can all talk about future dance recitals etc. I dont have a comp till January but next month i do have a performance at our local Performing Arts Center which is a big deal since the community can come out and see what we are doing so thats a big deal to recruit new dancer but any dancers are welcome here and come out and talk

I used to be an obsessed dancer (no competitions although they wanted me to i decided hanging out with my friends on the weekends and going to church was more important)

I took : tap, jazz, ballet, and when i was little I took gymnastics

then they started offering hippo hop..but i didnt take that because im just not into that kind of music (well now i am a little..but when i was 5 you could just count me out)

and then i didnt like gymnastics because I just wasnt that kind of flexable anymore..and then another year went by and i quit ballet because i liked to get my anger out with dance and ballet was just going too slowly for my age group, then i quit jazz when i broke my arm then i finished all the levels of tap and now im back into ballet

:) I ♥ ballet

its so pretty

I wanna learn Lyrical some day

Yeah Mouse Ballet is pretty awesome and so pretty the only promblem i am having in that class is that i should be in Advance due to i'm ready and everyone agree except the director who said i'm truly ready but she wants to have me stay there till i'm bored to death

That stinks,

Im in level 2 even though i completely skipped level one

I dont remember much about ballet except for basic things
So i kinda stumble around most of the time but im learning

I like ballet because it kinda works out your muscles slowly
its a lot of fun

and i love the piano music :goodvibes

I've been dancing for 10 whole years.

My first 3 years I took combo.

Now for 7 years I've taken Jazz.

This is my first year of Hip-Hop.

I really want to take Tap, so I might do that next year.

I love dancing and I want to continue for a long time.

The place I go isn't competition.

I get my 10 year award this year. Im so excited, I get some trophy.

5 years ago I got my 5 year award.

i'm in level 2 too and then the next classs is advance which i should be in so yeah

I'm in advanced Gymnastics, Cheerleading (Yes, at my dance place there is a class for this), Hip Hop, and Jazz.
I have won more than 50 competitions. I won my first when I was 5.

Dancing = life.

I like Jazz and Tap the best its just i have volleyball at the same time as tap but i could do with out hip hop i think i may start tap again even though i just quite 3 weeks ago and getting excited about our Christmas performance since its not a competition it will be prettty layed back which i'm looking foward to the most

I just graduated this past year from my dance school. I REALLY miss it. I took nearly everything. Jazz, ballet, acro, tap, modern, hip-hop, lyrical, pointe, floore barre. I was nuts. I'd go to competitions like once a month. I LOVE the competition scene.

I do irish step dancing. It's different from all the other types of dance that you guys do. I've been doing step dancing for 10 years now. I love it, I don't know what I'd do if I got seriously hurt and couldn't dance.

I love dance. Unfortunately it has to be pushed aside for theatre for a few months. But...whatever.
I've been dancing since I was 4 (I'm 16 now.) I currently take Ballet/Pointe, Jazz and Lyrical. I was on my studio's competition team for two years but then gave it up for theatre. I took tap for 11 years but gave it up this year for more theatre. I took hip hop for a year but decided I didn't like it. I took baton breifly over the summer. Oh and I'm in the highest class at my studio, advanced.

Um yeah. My show's now over so I'll be back at dance!

Started jazz at 8, took tap and ballet at 12.
Got on competition team at 13.
Did that for 4 years, quit this year.

On my HS team since freshman year.
Captain this year.
We do jazz pom hiphop & kick.
Went to UDA nationals last year.
Just got 2nd place out of 7 teams yesterday..
Reigning UDA camp champs for past 4 years!

Used to love competitions and all that with the studio, but our team kept getting smaller and smaller and it got less fun as the seniors kept leaving.
But my varsity team is sick. Love it to death. We just had our last home football game and it's the last time I danced on the turf. :(

I took dance for 5 years but I had to quit because we were going to be moving.
When we didn't move,I never went back to dance. :(

I took ballet, tap and acro for 1 year. and then for 4 years I took jazz and acro.
It was a lot of funny. I loved being flexible. :p

For my 5 year award I got a necklace with a dancer on it (I'm wearing it now)
If I stayed in dance,I would be getting my 10 year award this May.

Wow i'm glad to see there are so many dancers on here we dont have 5 year and 10 year rewards at my studio... Ive only been in dance for 5 years but i did Cheer for 2 years before that and gymnastics before that and then started doing gymnastics again in 5th grade but only did it through 7th (I made it to Level 8 inbetween that time so i had a lot of back ground in other things where you use dance for so i had some experience before starting dance...

I'm 13, I've been a dancer since I was 1 1/2. My years started out as this:

Age 1 1/2 - Mom and Tot.
2 - Mom and Tot
3 to 7 - Tap and Ballet
8 to 11 - Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and Hip-Hop
12 - Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and Pre-Pointe.
now 13 at a new studio - Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, and Modern.

I take 1 Tap class, 2 Jazz, 4 Ballet, 1 Pointe, and 1 Modern. :teeth: My life is at the studio <3 LOL.

I was thinking about getting into dance. Which is best?

I personally, would start with either Jazz or Hip-Hop. Because I feel that if you know jazz well enough, then you can go to Tap then to Ballet as well. Then after that you can move to Lyrical or Modern. And then Pointe :D

i just entered my 12th year of dance this past september. the dance studio i attend is non competve which is cool. every 5 years you dance there u get an award so i got my 5 year when i was in 4th grade and got my 10 year when i was in 9th grade, my instructor said i could stay until i get my 15 year award. i have taken tap, jazz hawaiian, tumbling, ballet, lyrical and hip hop over the past 12 years. we have a recital in may. last recital i did a solo to sweet 16 cuz i turned 16 in 2006 this year my cousin and i are doing a duet and she is 8 so i was being nice and gave in to do a hannah montana song. we also have a preformance group which i am in and we go to disneys magic music days every other year.(we went this past summer) they are alot of fun. i think it is neat to dance in disney we get to go behind the scenes at the magic kingdom cuz that where we danced and we get to go behind the scences and meet a real disney dancer who gives us a workshop where they pretend you are auditing to become a disney preformer. so anyone out there who is went who danced in the magic music days knows how hot it gets under those stage lights! oh and this year the classes im taking are private(duet pratice) jazz, lyrical, hip hop preformance i really love tap but its on a differnet night and i would like to stick to one night a week i know for my senior year ill take tap cuz ill be able to drive myself
