~*~*~The Oct 2014 waiting patiently (or not so) for a discount thread ~*~*~

Probably because Disney had a lot of bookings and didn't need to offer the discount to fill packages. I know where I live (Kentucky) the first full week in October is all the public school's fall breaks and lots of folks head to Disney. Also, F&W Festival is going on at Epcot and the F&W10miler race is during that time frame too. So Disney probably blacked out those two weeks because their bookings were already good and didn't need the "bump" in business that discounts bring. For next year, my trip will fall during that black out time (Oct 5-11) because we can only travel during our son's fall break, so no free dining for us :sad1: (assuming they have the same/similar disounts for 2014 that they did for 2013). I'm still crossing my fingers that there will be some sort of discount for when we will be there.

Looks like we will be there at the same time. I was so hoping to get Free Dining.

I got a PIN code for our trip in Sept 2013....I received it in August 2012 so I got mine a year out. I suppose they can come at any time, but this time last year, I had already gotten it, so yes, my PIN code came early. Keeping my fingers crossed I could still get one, or at least any type of discount.

We got our FD PIN for October 2013 in May 2013. So about 5 months out for us.

Thank you for this info. I guess it is worth it to start looking now :goodvibes .

I just went ahead and booked today for Sept. 26 - Oct. 3. I'm hoping for a PIN or a room only discount to come out - I booked POR but may consider upgrading to a deluxe if there's a room discount!

Going Oct 4-10, 2014. Is there any way to check online to see if you have a pin code linked to your name?

We are looking for the last week of October through the first week of November 2014 also! For us, the room only discount was bigger than free dining for our trip this fall.

We have never been during F and W and I don't think it really appeals to me as we have three small kids. I was thinking of staying at the beach club this o around, but should ex avoid that and maybe even the weeks with F and W? I don't want drunk people staggering back to their room from Epcot, you know? Or is it nothing like that? Is F and W why the rooms seemed sold out already? I was thinking of September 27th to the 4th to avoid fall break. Alternatively, we could do more like the 11th to 18th.

Thoughts? Of course we are looking for nice weather, low crowds, and a room only discount! A girl can dream, right?

Hello,
I just got an email with the follow rates for resorts:

$118/nt for value
$181/nt for moderate
$341/nt for Deluxe - Animal Kingdom or Wilderness Resort

These codes are for 10/1-10/9 and 10/13-10/31

There's a 3 letter code at the bottom to use. Is this a code that I'm looking for? If I book now and a better deal comes out can I change it?

Thanks,
Stephanie

Yes, you can change it. If you book a room only and then later want a package you will have to cancel and rebook but if you go ahead and add tix to your room only that will make it a package and then you would not have to rebook.

:cheer2::cheer2: YIPPIE on getting something

I just did a quick check on Disney's website, those appear to be rack rates for those dates in October (I only checked a few dates at a Moderate). I think that 3 letter code is for Disney to check to see what marketing works.

Saw that too, but I only checked on a couple dates at the beginning of Oct at POP and saw a savings of $10. Was just excited to see dates and emails for Oct.

Don't know if anyone saw Black562 post last night http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=50330263&postcount=1287

I normally don't book till I have a discount but this year I am since we had to cancel our December trip so we just moved the dates. I will probably move my dates again out of October timeframe. Why would Disney offer discounts on rooms already booked and being paid for? The point of discounts in to lure guests on property that may be in the area or for people thinking about a visit. ADR's can be made without a ressie but the whole MB+ thing really adds a kink, also would need to move dates back before Aug 1 to make FP+ reservations. This girl really needs free dining again this year. DD is going to take some friends with her to celebrate her last year of high school. We pay for the rooms, they pay for their tix and free dining makes everyone happy:thumbsup2

Who else really needs a discount??

Sorry if this has already been asked... How and when can we make ADRs if we are going to wait to boom till the discounts come out?

For my dates I will make ADR's April 3rd, I will have to make one per day just as if I was staying off property. Disney is really making it hard to book last minute with all the planning involved now. Think they do this on purpose!! I think not, genius on their part. They know 6 months out everything about your vacation. One could wait and move your trip dates after you book all your ADR's. Doesn't matter much, without free dining we won't be eating but a few sit downs as this is where cuts will need to be made to save money.

Thank you! ADRs are important to us so I guess we will pick a week most likely to have Fd and book. We think we'd like a preferred room at POR but I don't think they will be with the FD... Bummer

Is there a reason to assume that POR won't be included if they do free dining in the fall? I thought it was included in October 2013, but that POFQ was not... Am I wrong?

Received an email pin today for RO aug 17 to sep 27. so keep an eye out. Still waiting/hoping for FD.

POR was included with very limited availability. I knew a couple of families that traveled last Oct. and both ended up only getting discounts at CSR. POR is a very popular resort and why would Disney discount rooms at a resort that is booked??

I have been trying as i might to get a PIN, but haven't seen any yet. I talked to a CM on the online chat who encouraged me to book now (without a PIN):lmao:. As much as I want to go, I am not paying rack rate. So, in other words no thank you. Still waiting and hoping, but I have plenty of time. I won't start getting antsy until April when I hit the 180 day mark. If I don't have a PIN by then I will start worrying.

That bums me out, because I was really wanting one of the rooms at POR with the Murphy bed. :( I may have to start looking at other options.
