~*~*~The Oct 2014 waiting patiently (or not so) for a discount thread ~*~*~

Well, we're pretty set on Art of Animation for their affordable suites and neat theming. A discount (on hotel of dining) would be a bonus but it wouldn't make us change our resort. I know in the past AoA was excluded....so maybe we should just book soon then.

Book it. :cool1: you know what you want regardless of discounts. And one room booked by you won't affect the discount possibility. Book it then you won't be disappointed and you you can apply discount if available at later date. :goodvibes

a lil bit goofy, thanks for the advice. My vacation days are booked from work and my husband will too...so think we're just going to call and book AofA and our tickets, meal plan any time now.
PS - love your alias name :goodvibes

So super excited to find is thread! I have become fanatical about searching for information and discounts while planning this trip. We are looking to be there from sept 28-oct 5. Really really hoping for free dining. Keeping fingers crossed! It will be my kids first time to Disney world. We are avid Disneyland goers so super excited about this trip!

Posted on the other thread but will post here too!

Trip booked 12-18th. Airfare booked so dates are set in stone.

FD is out so I am hoping for a Disney Visa code or a PIN code.

I had a PIN on file but it was for the summer months - will see when it expires so I can call back. I am not holding out much hope for any discount but would love one anyway!

Used the Disney Visa code for our Feb 2013 trip at FOFQ. Staying at the Contemporary this time.

Those are my dates too! (well, we actually come in on the 11th at about 11 at night... so I call it the 12th :))

I was hoping for a discount before I realized it was Columbus Day Weekend.. and I have no PINS on file and have no idea how to even get one if I could.

For those not requiring a pin or a free dining offer and want to secure a room only discount as soon as possible; at one deluxe resort there's a saving well worth checking for dates from 10th October through to November so including Columbus weekend.

It's at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge in a Standard View room for up to 2-adults and 2-children.

Nightly rate is constant at £113.66 British pounds sterling, approximately $191 per night, so no increase for weekend nights.

Disney's rack rate ranges between $361 to $439 for dates between 10th-31st October.

Discount therefore varies between 47% and 56%, so saving between $170 to $248 a night.

Very limited availability and not all resorts and room types are discounted.

Check out thread on the Budget-Board at http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=50716713&postcount=306 for the latest example of savings of over $1,000 at Wilderness Lodge and for more info including the free cancellation policy check out the earlier threads.

Question about discounts....if we book our hotel (onsite), Disney Dining Plan and park tickets through Disney....and then our flight and car rental through Expedia...I'm assuming that if any discounts come for our Oct date, that we could still take advantage of the plan? (I'm guessing so, since not everyone has to fly to get to Disney)

We drive, and were able to use free dining last year. I think it wouldn't be a problem. I think the discount just requires room, dining, and tickets.

Samaya, Can you give more information on this?

Is this a UK only discount?

The link you provided went to a single post. It did not have any information on where to go for the discount.

Hi and yes it's the UK-Expedia offer and you can either go back to that thread and at the top right hand side click on where it states..... thread: Discounted Disney hotel rooms on the British Expedia web site.

Or to go to http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3222577&page=21 and post any further questions there, good luck...

We are booked for Oct 17-24th but still holding out hope for a room discount. Free dining doesn't seem to benefit us so we always take the room only discount. Birthday trip for myself and our DD first trip to Disney, she's not even born yet princess: but arriving soon.

Flight and Car are not considered part of a Disney Resort Stay Package. While you can book them through Disney Travel, you don't have to in order to get a discount.

Should a discount appear after you have booked, you will have to call Disney to get it applied to your package. If you're paid in full, they will refund, if not, they will apply the difference to your balance.

We are going Oct. 3rd-13th! We're going with my parents and three siblings (and their families). So excited! DH and DS and I went in 2009 and it's been way too long.

How easy would it be to change our reservation to a later month once you book and pay for a package?

I want to surprise my mom with a trip in October, but with that comes the risk she might not get the days off she needs. How flexible is Disney with changing dates?

You can change all you want till 45 days prior to check in without change fees. That said, I have had to move vacations within the 45 days and have never had a problem and have never paid a penalty. Just make sure if you do have to change you increase the value of the package as your changing and this seems to avoid the penalty fees. Once your vacation is changed just take the added cost off in a couple days.

We'd probably know way before 45 days in advance! Thanks for the reassurance.

We are booked at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness from October 16th through October 26th :)
5th trip with kids, 6th trip for hubby and I :)
We have been to DW in January (land and sea package-stayed at the POLY), June x2 (room discount-stayed at CS), early September and early October (free dining-stayed at PO-Riverside x2) (once offsite on our honeymoon)

we got free dining on both of our September and October trips. We are really hoping for free dining for this upcoming trip!!! pixiedust:

Anyone know when the RO public discounts will pop up, or if they will offer FD from mid-October to the end?

I'm trying to pin down dates for a return trip, and thinking of staying in the Nemo suites at AoA- which from what I have seen fall under a small discount for RO, or FD? Or is it RO only when released?

So, I know many of us are still waiting on a discount, but who has already started planning the details of their trip?

Anyone else out there planning dining and park days already so they are prepared on that 180 day mark? :confused3

April cannot get here soon enough! :bored:
