WHAT A MOVIE!!!! I read the book, and the movie is VERY close to the book, which is rare.

Not only is it a GOOD movie, but makes me venture back into my own world and wish I too had the chance to redo things that could have been different.

I liked it too. Once I figured out who Ali was, I was hoping I'd figure out who was reading to her. I'm glad it turned out the way it did.

I absolutely love that movie. It gets me everytime. Might have to go watch it again now...

mom just bought it--so im going to watch it--cried in the theater---also just got the b ook,,just have to find some time to read it

I just bought the DVD. I absolutely loved this movie. I read the book a few years back while staying at Wilderness Lodge. I'm not one to sit and read for long periods, but I could not put the book down. Shortly after that, my Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I saw the movie with my DH just a month after my Mom passed away from this dreaded disease at 64 (she battled with it for more than 10 years). So for me, this movie touches close to home and to my heart. I can honestly say that I have never been at a show where I could hear so much open crying and sobbing from both males/females. It is truly a testiment as to just how touching this film is.

I am watching it tonight with a girlfriend whose coming over for pizza/wings. She also was a friend of my Mom's so I'm having a tissue box besides her. We cry at movies together all the time but I'm sure there will be more tears shed tonight than normal.

My DD is a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks and his work (as well as myself). For those who like to read, try "The Wedding" which is sort of a sequel to "The Notebook", Bend in the Road, Message in a Bottle and the Mandy Moore movie "Walk to Remember."

I LOVE Walk To Remember, it was a great movie as well. I am going to go on a Nicholas Sparks binge. :)

gr8panther,

Might I suggest "The Wedding." I know several people who have read it and really enjoyed it. Our local library fortunately carries quite a selection of work by Nicholas Sparks.

I haven't seen The Notebook yet but there was a movie out several years ago with Gwyneth Paltrow called Sliding Doors that had a similar theme about how a few minor events could change the course of your life. It was really good.

LOVED IT! Loved the book more though. Funny, I was thinking we need to start a Nicholas Sparks fan thread page here on the CB. I love everything about him. I've read his books, I even listen to his commentary on the DVD.

That was good too. I'm hoping for him to write something about Noah and Allie's married life together, after the Notebook, but before the Wedding. But looks like he's got 2 books coming out this year, so who knows if he will write another one about Noah and Allie.

I saw it with my best friend when it first came out. She had read the book and I had not, I did not know what the movie was about. It was way too sad for me. If I'd had an idea what I was in for, I might have enjoyed it more. I know she thought it was a wonderful adaptation of the book though.
I did like Bend in the Road and The Guardian

I just finished watching it a few minutes ago. What a great movie!!!! Make sure you have a box of Kleenex.

My dad had Alzheimer's Disease and my mother would have loved it. She died right before it came out. I loved it and bought it on DVD.

OMG, I just came on here to post about this movie and saw your thread. My DD and I just finished watching it. It is by far the saddest movie I have ever seen in my entire life. We both cried. I don't usually buy movies, but this one I am definitely going out to buy. It's very touching.

I read the book and it is one of my favorites. I can't wait to see the movie. Hopefully next weekend we will be able to watch it. I will have my tissues right next to me on the couch.

I loved the book. I just watched the movie this weekend and honestly it was so hard to watch since mom's been diagnosed with dementia (at a really young age) and even though I want to buy it I'm not sure I can watch it a lot...I really had a hard time watching it

I watched it this weekend. Really good & touching, wouldn't it be great if we could all have that kind of relationship.
