The Notebook

Oh my goodness ... wowwwwwwy! I just finished the movie a few minutes ago and cried like a baby! It was really good!

One of my all time favorite books. I loved the book so much that I did not want to see the movie. I know its strange, but that is how I feel about it. While it is terribly sad that alzheimers is involved, I thought that overall the book is really a celebration of life and marriage.

WHAT A MOVIE!!!! I read the book, and the movie is VERY close to the book, which is rare.
Thanks for posting this! This fear is actually what's stopping me from seeing it. The book was so good, and I didn't want to see it destroyed on film, like they did with A Walk To Remember. Maybe I'll see it after all.

I saw this movie on the theatre. And now I have it on DVD. I think this is one of the best romantic movies ever made. I had to cry again. It does make me think back of what could have been...What Ifs.

I watched it this weekend. Really good & touching, wouldn't it be great if we could all have that kind of relationship.

My hairdresser gave me the book to read when it first came out. I read it while at WL during vacation. Upon returning, she asked me what I thought about the book.

My answer was quite simple "To love like that and to be loved like that." What a rare gift they had in each other. I'm sure many of wish we had this kind of love in our lives.

Movie was fantastic! My throat hurt from trying not to cry. It followed the book very well, very nice surprise. I went out and bought it the day we returned the rental, can't wait to watch it again. :flower:

I LOVED it!! What a wonderful movie. I cried like a baby through like the last 30 minutes.

I know this thread is so old, but I just finished watching the Notebook, so of course I had to come on here to see what my Dis pals thought of it!!

I cried at the end too. I thought it was so romantic!! I didn't know Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams before this, thought they were great.

I felt so bad for Noah at the end. But how great is it that they would have had all those happy years together, before Allie got sick. :cloud9:
What a true romantic, spending all that time with her, reading to her, trying to get her to remember, if just for a few minutes. Sigh. So sweet. :goodvibes

I'm shocked that so many people love this movie. I HATED it.

Both of my kids love it too and they want me to buy it on DVD. I just can't force myself to buy it because that would mean, I'd have to watch it again.

I feel it's too slow paced and not really interesting enough to keep me entertained.

Flame away! I just put on my extra layer of skin! :rotfl2:

While I LOVED the movie, I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the book. Yes they were both very close in story, but, for some unknown reason I thought the book was better. Both made you cry like a baby, but, the book made me blubber like an idiot. All in all its a great story all around....

Now you do have to get The Wedding. I read it a couple of summers ago. It is also a great story.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Not a problem with me. The movie/book just hit home with me because my father had Alzheimer's Disease.

I saw the movie in theatres, read the book and then watched it when it first came out again on video. It is such a great movie. I am currently about halfway through the wedding as well. My library also as a huge selection of sparks books they are all great! I also love that rachel and ryan are actually dating in real life because they are really cute together.

So funny that this thread was revived just when I watched the movie last night.

I loved the book, but I didn't care for the movie. I really like Rachel McAdams in other films, but I didn't see any real chemistry between the two characters, and I thought her character appeared one dimensional. Still, I cried like a baby at the end. I really liked Jim Garner and Gena Rowland together.

I read the book a few weeks ago, then rented the movie. I really enjoyed the book, but I didn't care for the movie. I felt the same way about Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks-loved the book but not the movie. I guess I just liked the way I had these books pictured in my mind.

This is one of my favorite movies now!!!! So beautiful! I cryed like a baby!!
I own it. Infact I love all Rachel McAdams movies!!!!

That is one of my favorite movies. The mother when she takes Allie to see the man she loved is my life. I am that mother who made the choice to be with one man but is still hopelessly in love with another.

Amazing story. so close to the book. I read the book then watched the movie later that night. It was amazing.
