This may sound odd, but what the hey. I have been learning about the aperature, shutter speed, and Iso lately, and how to adjust them to get out of the famed AUTO MODE. I mean, using auto, I may as well have a disposable, right?
So, in my quest to teach myself how to manually adjust settings, I was just looking thru photos on a picture site. I would view the photo, and then take a guess as to what the chosen settings were for the conditions. This is my step beyond just "seeing" what settings people choose. Well, honestly, my numbers were not exact, however, they were close. Which could mean Im on the right road, thanks to my dis photo teachers!:worship:

It's not quite that bad, although "auto" is not the mode of choice for a SLR. Many of the experienced photographers on this board (and others) use "P" with overrides. It's sort of like auto focus, where the camera does it's best and then you can override it to some extent to tweak the image more to your liking.
Almost no one would go back to manual focus (except for macro)! Same for exposure, except there is a large group who mistakenly tries to convince us that if we don't use "M" we are not real photographers. Sure...

Using "M" all the time is likely to cause a lot of missed shots that "P" would have captured.
