The Nosh Heard 'Round the World: Larded and Loaded v2.0 (index complete!)

YEA! Your food reports are soo good. I have to live vicariously though you...we are going in 2 weeks but will be mainly eating at character buffets for my 21 month old son! But I still can't wait and hope to get in one good days of eats and drink on the last day of F&W fest!

Everything at bluezoo looked positively delicious! We ate there once, but its been a while. We will definitely have to go back now. Looks like you were in VERY good company that night too! :goodvibes

BTW...aren't Michelle's goodie bags the best? She's a very crafty and sweet lady. ::yes::

Came over from Brenda's review where she is pimping you out with her ice cream recipe link! You guys look like you had so much fun and so much yummy food. I can't wait for when we can do a grown up meal without furry or tiara-ed characters! Brenda's dessert reminded of a "crabby patty", you know the Sponge Bob gummy candy that looks like a hamburger? :rotfl:

Wow, great pics, great friends, great booze and great food! Looks like you guys had a fantastic time!

Fabulous Brenda! I have to forward this to my Dad - he is an excellent ice cream maker and he LOVES Guinness!

I really enjoyed your Blue Zoo recap ... the food was so good, as was the company. :thumbsup2

I must say, however, that Jay wasn't giving you the hairy eyeball ... he was smirking because he knows how much I hate having my picture taken. When not prepared (as your picture shows) I usually have a really goofy look on my face. Oh well, it's part of my questionable charm.

As for my shrimpie / polenta appetizer ... it was excellent but maybe had a bit too much fennel. And while I would like to dispute your claim that it will take six months for me to post my review ... you may not be too far off the mark. We all know how long it takes me to finish my threads ... :rotfl2:

For a three-hour tour (har har) it didn't feel to us like we'd spent all that much time at the restaurant. I guess that tells you how much fun we had.

Thanks again for meeting up with us that night - it was good times!

PS. That Vanna-shot is ... is ... shameful because I wasn't even drunk when I did it! :rotfl2: I think I need to get back on my diet.

What on earth is a wine lanyard? I have a hard enough time not dripping or spilling on myself while holding something in my hand (it's the bewbs, they just get in the way). A wine lanyard sounds dangerous!

On our last trip the the world we had a mini reuinion with some distant family members. I dripped on my blouse, blotted it off in the ladies room, and walked out to discover they all wanted to take pictures. Now my entire family has pictures of me with a big ole wet spot on my chest. Typical. :sad2:

But why is Jason giving me the hairy eyeball? :scared:

I almost spewed my iced tea when I read that! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Thanks for an entertaining review of your meal! Sounds like it was a great experience :thumbsup2

Looks like y'all had an awesome time and I'm really glad you enjoyed bluezoo as much as we did. I had that Cantonese Lobster dish and it was incredible.

I just can't get past the fried lobster thing. I'm sure it's good, but I don't find it appealing. But yes, I enjoyed it enough for a repeat visit for sure.

Rex looks a lot like Sutter Bestwick :lmao:

Heheh, yep. Had to include that pic for the benefit of those who would appreciate it. I only regret not catching his black socks and brown canvas slip on sneakers in the photo.

Thanks! I'm sure you'll have fun with the kiddo. Sorry you can't indulge in adult meals, so I guess I'm glad you can get your vicarious thrills right here.

I don't think there was anything we detested. I didn't hear any complaints from the others. And yes, it was really good company! Michelle totally caught me off guard.

Kay, Bluezoo is ON the list now!!!

I hope you mean the GOOD list.

Ironically enough, I make a Spongebob reference later in my reviews. But yes, you could say she had the Krabby Patty dessert. :rotfl2:

Wow, great pics, great friends, great booze and great food! Looks like you guys had a fantastic time!

What order would you say would come first? Heheheheh.
Yes, fantastic would be one word to describe it. :thumbsup2

Fabulous Brenda! I have to forward this to my Dad - he is an excellent ice cream maker and he LOVES Guinness!

Brenda's influencing people again! :lmao:

I really enjoyed your Blue Zoo recap ... the food was so good, as was the company.

I first read that as "recrap" and thought, "Huh?" Then I read it correctly. Heh. Agreed about the food and company.

I must say, however, that Jay wasn't giving you the hairy eyeball ... he was smirking because he knows how much I hate having my picture taken. When not prepared (as your picture shows) I usually have a really goofy look on my face. Oh well, it's part of my questionable charm.

Well, I had to comment about the hairy eyeball and the Sarah Palin lookalike in the background just because I noticed these things when I posted. And your expression isn't that goofy. I shudder to think what mine looked like. :scared1:

As for my shrimpie / polenta appetizer ... it was excellent but maybe had a bit too much fennel. And while I would like to dispute your claim that it will take six months for me to post my review ... you may not be too far off the mark. I know whereof I speak in regards to your updating. :rolleyes1
The fennel was the part that made me shy away from it. I like the leafy fennel, but not the seeds and spice "anise" flavoring much. I don't like the flavor of black licorice.

For a three-hour tour (har har) it didn't feel to us like we'd spent all that much time at the restaurant. I guess that tells you how much fun we had.

Thanks again for meeting up with us that night - it was good times!

I thought the same thing. When people around you are leaving and the restaurant is emptying a bit, and you're still at a table, I guess that means you're having too good a time to leave. :grouphug: It really didn't feel like we were there THAT long.

PS. That Vanna-shot is ... is ... shameful because I wasn't even drunk when I did it! :rotfl2: I think I need to get back on my diet.

It was not shameful nor drunken looking! I liked the Vanna display of the rust bucket! And I will add a giant OY that you even thought you needed a diet in that pic. I agree that you looked fabulous, regardless of your self-flagellating commentary.

Oh, and thanks again for PIMPING MY REPORT! Heheheheh.

I was going to save this pic until my Party for the Senses review, but I wanted to show you what my wine lanyard looked like. You can't see the full effect, but it's basically a sling of sorts to hold the wine glass so you can have the use of both hands for food and camera shots. ;)

Let me tell you, even we bewby chicks can wear the wine lanyards without fear. I wore mine the entire night without any problems...as long as I kept it locked into the holder. I once tried to take it out and disconnected the ends, but I popped those back into place quickly. The lady on the left is Pam Smith, the lady who MC's a lot of the food and wine events and demos. She's been doing this for years. For me, it wouldn't be the festival without her.

Well, I highly recommend going there, as long as you take the rest of us with you. I'm sure you'll increase the enjoyment of your meal with the rest of us around. ;)

Blue Zoo looks yummy! Looking forward to more.:goodvibes

Let's see...I have two events to cover next, but I am procrastinating. I'll try to get at least one up soon. Thanks for reading. :)

Great pic of you and Pam. You are so right, I can't imagine the food demo's without Pam. Your reviews are fantastic, dh and I have never eaten at Blue Zoo, but it's now on our list of 'must do's'.
Looking forward to the rest of your reviews!

Now you come to mention it Jason gave me the "hairy eyeball" whenever i asked "Ice-cream anyone?".....

Great review Sir...:)

ps... Blue Zoo would be the restaurant where i sent my son Ryan into ask if they did "take out" after returning from the parks one night,i'd have eaten a rotten alligator carcass without fries and still paid the bill we were so hungry, were so uncouth us English...:rolleyes1

Loved the bluezoo review. It looks like y'all had a fabulous time and the food looks completely nummy!

I'm looking forward to the Robert Irvine update. He's so entertaining!

Do you remember hearing that woman sitting at the bar in Ca. Grill talking about the cotton candy martini at T Rex, she said they pour it over cotton candy. I am intrigued. Would that turn out like the Guinness float I wonder.

I've had vodka/cotton candy martini. It was quite good but very sweet. I guess I should have expected that since it was made with cotton candy but it was still somehow unexpected.

Ok, I need a wine lanyard for just around the house. I think I could get so much more done! :rotfl2:

You'll be featured soon enough in one of my reviews. I won't let the cat out of the bag just yet, though. ;)

Do you always make a habit of addressing females as "sir"? :rotfl2:
If so, I'm going to call you Marcie, the Peanuts character that always referred to Peppermint Patty as "sir". ;)

Thanks for the comments. You have me wondering what rotten alligator carcass tastes like. (Chicken, perhaps?)

Robert Irvine is very upbeat and personable, as well as very funny.
As for that martini, if it's too sweet, I might want to pass on it.

ROFL! I never expected that the wine lanyard would see the light of day around the house. I really don't drink wine that often, at least not enough to wear the wine lanyard. I think I've hit my booze quota for the year after this trip, though!

I know I have to write an update, but I'm at the busiest time for me at work, so I've been putting it off. :scared:

I apologize for the slight thread hijack, but I just wanted to agree that the food demos and events wouldn't be the same without Pam. Actually, the 10/31 City Tastes will have two Pam Smiths since I'll be dressing as her for Halloween when I go to the City Tastes that night. :)

Oh, and Lori & Brenda, I'm anti-fennel but I've had the shrimp & polenta appetizer prepared without the fennel. Yum!

Hijack away! I hope that someone notices you dressed up as Pam for Halloween. And I'm a mixed-feelings girl about fennel. I like the greens, but not the anise flavored spice/seed. Good idea about asking for the shrimp without fennel. :thumbsup2
