The Nosh Heard 'Round the World: Larded and Loaded v2.0 (index complete!)

Pictures please :woohoo: and not necessarily of the Food Porn. ;)

Have a gastronomically good time! :dance3:

And I'll know who you are at PFTS by your wine lanyard and its support system! :goodvibes

Oh, I'll be sure to take pics of everything.

And I updated my first post because I have a last-minute addition...

I am going to the 10/16 wine dinner at Jiko!

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

Jiminy Cricket :wizard: and a little of the Disney Magic! Enjoy Jiko's!

Looking forward to the reviews and pics! Hope you have a wonderful time! :)

Aww thanks. :flower3:

Heheh. My first thought, after singing this song in my head, was to scream, "I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!" ;)

I sent my email today regarding my disappointment over the removal of foie gras on the menus. I'll probably hear back from them after I return from my trip.

Ok guys, I'm leaving tomorrow. On the agenda tomorrow night:

Todd English's bluezoo™

Woohoo!

I will probably need a wheelbarrow for my belly when my trip is complete. ;)

Hey Lori, I am in!
Also just got back from v&a ...
We didn't take any pics .... ( I feel like I am in castle Frankenstein watching the crowd of torches ready to light it up! :scared1: )
and NO foie gras on the menu! :sad2:

Well, I didn't have foie gras, but I had something equally non-PC. You gotta wait for that. ;)

(re: Bluezoo)I hope y'all enjoy it as much as we did.:goodvibes

Yes, yes I did! Todd's got some really good food.

Have a great trip! Can't wait for your dining and drinking reviews!;)

I will have to get my pics uploaded and such. I have to say that I did my pre-trip weigh in and my post-trip weigh in. I gained 3.5 lbs. ;)

Non- PC Food .. WOW! Got to love it.. have to make up for the lack of goose liver at the "world"! :cool1:

Welcome Home! Just had to post for all the world to see ... we had a great time with you and michelle and steve at Blue Zoo. I guess Todd English really does deserve that little TM behind his name. :lmao:

Mmmmmm, non-PC food! Bring on the outrage!! :thumbsup2

Ok people, it's time to start noshing! I've been back for a few days, and I am primed and ready to start writing my report. Here we go!

Wednesday, October 15, 2008: The Simple and the Sumptuous in a Single Day.

I arrived midday to the Beach Club Villas, and I knew I wanted to eat nearby in order to meet up with a DIS friend, Karen. Since Disney's Magical Express was picking her up at the Boardwalk within a short amount of time after my arrival, we ate lunch at The Fountain, located at the Dolphin.

This place is small and somewhat like Beaches and Cream, but without the Johnny Rockets atmosphere. Karen ordered a salad, and I ordered a tried and true cheeseburger with mushrooms:

Mmmm, Crouching Burger, Hidden Mushrooms:

I saw a picture of the cheeseburger that RobertP posted on his food porn report, and well, I had major Burger Envy since. I have to say that this burger has outstripped Beaches and Cream in quality, but I still like Beaches and Cream for their sundaes!

My burger was done the way I wanted it, and I actually liked that the mushrooms were securely fastened to the burger with the American cheese "cap". Often, places will pile the 'shrooms on the cheese, and they fall out all over the plate when you pick up the burger to eat. I had no 'shroom mess issues with this burger. Bravo. :thumbsup2

But wait, there's more. I had read a few months ago that they served beer floats at this place. Not root beer floats. Beer floats. Apparently my server didn't know anything about it when I asked, but she was willing to help me obtain one. So she had a glass filled with ice cream (chocolate) and poured some Guinness over it. It was the best I could think of to go with chocolate.

Well, I have to say it was better in theory than in practice. Karen kept telling me how gross this was, and I kept trying to suck it down with my pathetic straw. I ended up drinking most of the beer from the bottle, and letting the ice cream melt more into a bit of a shake consistency. It wasn't terrible, just a pain in the drain trying to drink it.

Here's a picture of me looking stupid while trying to drink it:

And there's my first meal on my trip. Simple, yet satisfying.

I hung out with Karen to see her off on her trip home. Afterwards, I killed time in Epcot and the Welcome Home Wednesday event for DVC members before heading back to clean up for my dinner at Todd English's bluezoo™ with some familiar people on the Disney Restaurants forums.

Next: Todd English's bluezoo™: Will it be worth the hype?

Yes, they are going to probably remove more of the non-PC foodstuffs sooner or later.

I just started posting, and I realized....are my picture sizes too big? Should I go on Photobucket and resize them a smidgen? You might want to tell me because you're featured in some of them.

The smaller you can make any picture that includes me the better for everyone involved. :rotfl2:

BTW, loved your review of The Fountain ... glad to see we weren't missing much by not stopping in to pay them a visit.

Guinnes Ice Cream, by the way, is very tasty especially with dark chocolate sauce! :thumbsup2

They put waaaaaay too much ice cream in the glass! I've never had a Guinness float, but I'm pretty sure it would make me hurl (and I love Guinness and ice cream, just not together!)

Looking forward to more reviews.:cool1:

Awesome, you tried the guinness float instead of me

I think I will stick with the Guinness and cheese in Ireland. Which looked more like Italy. What do I know.

Do you remember hearing that woman sitting at the bar in Ca. Grill talking about the cotton candy martini at T Rex, she said they pour it over cotton candy. I am intrigued. Would that turn out like the Guinness float I wonder.

I would think gin or vodka over cotton candy, would be MUCH more palatable than Guinness over ice cream! That's just me though.;)

Ok Lori! Jason just stopped helping me with the food review and is trying to find ice cream to go with his Guinness at this moment! We have NONE but he doesn't believe me! Ok now he's melting Halloween candy and milk .. LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE! :rotfl2:

I'll see what I can do about the pictures. I can't promise anything, though. ;)
As you can see, it's actually worth stopping in for burgers, and I'm sure the ice cream is better without the Guinness.

Yes, I realized that there was way too much ice cream, but hey, I wasn't complaining. Well...yes, I take that back. I was complaining. I complained to myself (and Karen) how difficult it was to drink. I think the chocolate porter brewed around here at a local microbrewery/restaurant would actually work well with this kind of float. Thanks for viewing. My next review should not be as hurl-worthy. :flower3:

What can I say? I took one for the team. I know you and Brenda both wanted to know about those beer floats. It was a pain trying to convince them that this place even used to make them, and I got the second-class version, I am sure.

I was completely oblivious to anyone at the bar at California Grill. I was too busy concentrating on my drink. :) But I like that idea of pouring a drink over cotton candy, especially if the liquid contents are on the sour side, enough to balance the sugary effects of the candy. Now I have another experiment for next time.

I would think gin or vodka over cotton candy, would be MUCH more palatable than Guinness over ice cream! That's just me though.;)

I even think the cotton candy thing sounds better, but with the limitations I mentioned in my last response above this. :)
