Is it too soon for a pre-trip report?

As I start this pre trip report it is exactly 3 months 3 weeks and 3 days to our next Disney trip :goodvibes: Maybe a little early but I have to do something, everything is planned and I can't pack yet :rotfl:

This is my first ever trip report so bear with me. I love reading everyone else's so it is about time I gave it a whirl :surfweb:

Ok so here goes, settle back, make yourself comfy and enjoy popcorn::

Who
Me & DH – I’m going to call him Grumpy :lmao: (he’s not really but we call him that when we’re teasing him)
This will be our 2nd trip together but the 3rd trip for each of us as we have both went before we met.

DD age 6 She’s going to be Stitch because well the photo speaks for itself!

This will be her 2nd trip to WDW

DSD age 11 I’m going to call her Eeyore as he’s her fav
This is her 1st trip to WDW!! We are so excited to be able to show her the ‘World’

And our friends, they are a family of 4 with 2 girls age 11 and 14.
Also their 1st trip to WDW – I’m trying to hold back on giving them help unless they ask for it!! Ideally I would love to plan everything for them but I think they’d kill me! I have to think back to my first trip, before the days of websites and ‘dis’ I went to WDW knowing nothing, reserving nothing and still had an excellent time with no regrets. We will do some stuff together that we’ve planned but some days they will do there own thing. They want to go off site and explore what else Orlando has to offer. We have no interest in shopping or the other parks; 2 weeks is barely enough time to cover everything we want to do in Disney! We will start going off site when DD is a bit older and we’ve had a few more trips to WDW.

A little Background
We wanted to take Eeyore with us to WDW for Christmas last year but we were not able to, family politics got in the way. We still went because it wasn’t fair on Stitch to miss out. However we felt awful and we wanted to share it all with her so badly. It has been Grumpy’s dream to take both his girls to WDW. We promised Eeyore before we went in December that we would go again and that next time she would come. We didn’t want this to be an empty promise and to not take another trip for 5 years. So this was one of the reasons we were motivated to buy DVC, it meant that we would be able to go back and lots more times too! Grumpy and I have always loved Disney so thinking that all our vacations for the foreseeable future would have a Disney flavour is not a problem for us :goodvibes:

We closed with DVC in January 2008 and started planning our next trip. We tackled it differently this time and worked with Eeyore’s mum as to when she would let her go. We got Eeyore so excited about it that mum wouldn’t be able to say no. Emotional blackmail yes but hey needs must! We got agreement that she could come with us in February and that she would be allowed to miss a week of school. To be honest I think mum was hoping that I wouldn’t be able to get time off work because I’m a teacher :teacher: However I only work part time and I have a very understanding head teacher, she has stepchildren herself so she could understand the situation. She told me it would be fine for me to go and we work out cover nearer the time. Grumpy got the time off work as well and we just had to wait for the flights to come out. As we were waiting for flights, Grumpy started talking about our forthcoming trip to his friend at work. The friend expressed a wish to take his family but he had priced it up and he just couldn’t afford it. Grumpy and I chatted we looked at the points charts; we had extra developers points too. Yes we had the points for a 2 bed, no I didn’t mind if they came with us. So Grumpy made the offer, they were thrilled and it was lovely being able to share a little of the Disney magic with our friends.

When
Monday 9th February to Monday 23rd February
Our friends arrive on Thursday 12th and depart Saturday 21st

Where
We are travelling up to Gatwick on Sunday 8th February and staying at Acorn Lodge where we got a great deal: £134 for the family room, breakfast, transfers and parking :cool1:

This is our first trip ‘home’ since buying into DVC in January this year so we will be staying at Jambo House at Animal Kingdom Villas. This will be our first time at a deluxe resort!

We get the big bed!! :woohoo:

Well that’s a start, planning and itineraries to follow :goodvibes:

Great pre-trip report - I am sure you will have a fantastic time - especially staying at AKV.

How kind of you to take your friends too.

Can't wait to hear how you all get on

Tammy

Thanks for sharing, Emma. How lovely for you to be able to take your dsd along. She must be so excited. I hope your friends appreciate your generosity - it's very easy for non-owners to (a) believe it's not costing you anything, and (b) have no idea how much it would cost them if they had to pay for it.

Great start Emma. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to read more.

we stayed in a two bed dvc villa with our friends and it is really good as it quite private but real good fun as you can share the kitchen area for drinks and nibbles etc.

hope you all have such a great time

Susan

great start Emma :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 Acorn Lodge sounds interesting -have to look into that one myself

Its never too soon for a pre trippy!!

Great start :)

People actually read this :scared1:

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my report and commenting

I think they do Deb when we offered it to them we discovered that our DF's wife had been dreaming about staying at AKL but knew it was well beyond their budget and if they got to go at all it would be in a budget hotel

:thumbsup2 Acorn Lodge sounds interesting -have to look into that one myself

Here's the web site for Acorn Lodge http://www.acornlodgegatwick.co.uk :)

The more observant amongst you will notice that I have just changed the title of this trip-report.

When I started I wracked my brains to think of a good title for my trip report but I couldn't think of anything witty or clever.

However in a moment of inspiration when I couldn't sleep last night it came to me. I would use a quote from Lilo and Stitch because DD6 is such a huge fan. The most appropriate quote to use seemed to be "Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten." because we are able to take my DSD this time which is fantastic and we have also got our friends coming too. To use the whole quote seemed a little long winded though so it's has been shorted to The 'nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten' trip report.

Hope you like it :goodvibes

sounds like a lovely trip planned. lovely of you to help your friends get to Disney too.:)
