What kind of traditions do you have to get excited? I'm getting ready to call in the kids for dinner and baths and I'm so tired from a long week. I don't want my kids to pick up on my mood so I'm trying to think of something exciting for them to get them n the Disney spirit! I"ll get out the old pictures and we can watch a planning video...any other ideas?? :flower:

My DD is only 2yo so we don't have any yet, but how about...Talk about what each of you is looking forward to most. Talk about something new ou're going to try this time. Depending on their age, have each one make a card for their favorite character.

We don't have children so our life is a lot different.

The day before any vacation: Go to the gym as always but do a double workout. Then it's off to the salon...nails, pedicure, (depending on where we're going: spray on tan or a facial and massage) and have my hair blown out. My DH usually brings home a nice bottle of champagne and we go out for an early dinner. When my DH brings the luggage to the front door for the limo driver...we are usually pretty excited.

I always pack a themed movie to match our destination to watch on the laptop during the flight.

Our only DS is 25, but we don't have to do anything to get excited - the fact that we're flying off to WDW & DVC the next day is more than enough to keep us excited - and possibly sleepless!

We leave tomorrow at 2 am....hubby is already in bed becasue he is driving and my grandkids just tuckered out on me. So, I just loaded the car (WAY too much stuff....I KNOW I overpacked) and I am getting ready to hit the shower and then the bed...not very exciting but I am tired.

While I was packing, the kids were coloring in Disney coloring books and listening to Disney music in their Disney pj's. LOL

Our DS is 2 and for this last trip, we sang Zippadee-Doo-Dah every morning on the way to school/work for 3 months. And then as the time drew nearer, I made my DH go over our minute by minute itinerary aloud...like, "ok first we're going to ride POTC, and then we're going to Splash Mtn, and then Thunder Mtn, and then we'll have lunch at Pecos Bill's...and then..." He didn't play that game very long!

I always watch a Disney movie the night before, and usually find/burn a CD of Disney music for the car ride to the airport!

Ours is we have Mickey waffles from dinner and then, of course, I don't SLEEP AT ALL because I'm so excited!!!!!! :Pinkbounc

Our last night is always spent at EPCOT and the last ride before we head home is Spaceship Earth. :earsboy:

Have a safe and fun trip,Judi.... We'll be right behind you in 8 days :cool1:

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I need a mickey waffle iron!!! The kids did watch brother bear and I have a CD in the car to play on the way to the airport. I also got out the planning video. Well off to bed we have to be up at 5am. YIPPEE! :Pinkbounc

I may be in the minority here, but I try to minimize excitement the night before we leave. Otherwise, no one will sleep and we will be crabby on our travel day. Coming from AZ, the trip to FL is a long one. On our trip last month we left AZ at 5:30am in AZ and arrived in FL at about 2:30pm FL time. Sleep was our #1 priority the night prior to leaving and upon checking in.

Ditto on downplaying the excitement the night before or they will never go to sleep- especially my youngest! And I PACK the night before... which I can't do if the children are up and all hyper about the trip. LOL

I stay up all night, like right now. We leave in 8 hours and I'm wide awake.

Last trip I ran around packing until tooooo late.. then crashed..

Our upcoming trip is a surprise, so I'll have to pretend things are pretty normal.. DD thinks we're heading out for Savannah, GA on the day we leave for Disney, so she can see me packing some stuff, but I still have to be careful. :)

Ditto

Its a 14 hour trip from door to door for us, including a 9 hour flight and 90 minute commute to London Gatwick to get the plane over.

A few glasses of red wine hleps to get some sleep the night before

Why can't this be my life?? :confused3

We always play all our Disney CD's and most likely, depending on what day we leave, will watch the newest Vacation Planning DVD. After dinner, my mom will run around like a madwoman packing some little things like toothbrushes and stuff. The night before you leave is always the best!! ::MickeyMo

Actually tonight will be the night before we leave and I'm so tired right now that excitement is the last thing that I'm feeling! I'm trying to get last minute things together, doing laundry, I still have to cut my husband's hair, and the list goes on and on. I was playing the music from Wilderness Lodge though while doing my chores, so that made me feel excited. I usually don't get really hepped up though until I'm on the plane enroute, this way there's nothing left to do, or at least there is nothing else I can do, so I can finally relax and think about the trip! :sunny:
