Thinking of booking a few days there on our next trip- Please tell me the good, the bad and the ugly, I hate surprises!!!

My kids (6 and 8 at the time of our stay) loved the place! They loved their Jimmy Neutron room with bunk beds and their own tv. We went in January and the temperature was maybe 55-60F, but the pool was warm enough they played in it for hours. They got slimed and then got to jump right into the pool. Great arcade. AWESOME character breakfast. Fun gift shop with lots of SpongeBob stuff. The kids want to go back.

The bad (or maybe just not great:) The rooms are smaller than you would imagine from the tv commercials, etc. The kid room is tiny. The batteries in our tv remote were not only dead, they were corroded and leaking acid. The heat in our room didn't work. It wasn't filthy or anything, but nowhere near as clean as a Disney resort. I thought it was WAY overpriced. The character breakfast made up for all the negatives, though.

Thanks for the reply! I read the reviews on Expedia & Travelocity, they vary a great deal, Love/Hate - I just want to know what to expect.

ANYONE ELSE??? Please post

We stayed there when it first opened up, in 2005. The kids were 4, 6 and 7 and they LOVED it! DH not so much. We only stayed for two nights - we didn't do any parks just the hotel pool, hotel activities, and DTD. We were then switching over to the GF for two weeks.

I think DH just couldn't wait to get to the GF and the Nick Hotel was a little too "crazy" for him. I thought it was fine for a few nights. Actually the kids still want to go back, and I'd have to really bribe DH to get him back!

We stayed there for 3 nights a few years back when my kids were 10, 7 & 2. They boys had a Sponge Bob room, and my DD was on the sleeper couch out in the front room. They LOVED it. They thought it was pretty cool to have a PSP right in their room (which they don't have at home). We enjoyed the pool and went to the Nick show they have there - but that was about it. Otherwise we were at Universal that trip and really didn't stay around the hotel too much. At the time they really wanted to go back - but a the years have moved on a bit, they don't really care anymore. It was a nice room, but nothing I would seek out particularly anymore, though my DD would probably enjoy it for Dora now.

We spent a week there in 2006 and for the last 3 years we have spent our last night of vacation at the Nick Hotel, my kids love, love, love it! Rooms are tiny, food courts not so great but the water areas are amazing.

Thanks for the replies!!! Did you guys find the rooms to be clean? I read some reviews on travel sites that sheets were stained and something about a dirty bandaid, please tell me the place is clean and these were just a few disgruntled people, majority of reviews were 5 star and they loved it.

We LOVED it! :thumbsup2 We were just in Disney for 8 nights in Dec. at All Star Movies. We took 2 nights at Nick before driving home. I so wish I had just stayed at Nick!!! We got a deal for a kids suite for $79 a night -- cheaper than Disney and rooms so much bigger! Our room had either a queen or king size bed, closet, dresser, desk with mirror and a tv. The boys room had bunk beds, a tv, table and chairs and drawers... not small at all. The living room had a couch and chair, flat screen tv, table and chairs, fridge and microwave and sink. The bathroom was much nicer than Disneys too. The kids (6 & 3) loved their Jimmy Neutron room. The character breakfast was fantastic. Everyone was very nice. The heated pool was superb, esp after Disney's cold pools! PLUS a zero entry pool, perfect for 3yo. There's a toddler play area, the slides and golf!!! It was truly a great time. The 4D movies are terribly expensive for a 10 min movie, but we didn't do them, don't know how fun they are. DS6 ended up VERY sick during our Nick stay so we didn't get to do anything other than half a day at the pool before he got sick, so I can't say about anything else. WELL worth a stop there.
FYI check in is, oh I forget, like 4:00. Do stop in earlier if you're ready. We got there about 11 am I think, just to check, before heading to Sea World for the day. They told us it was good we came early. Most people will hit parks first then check in and it can take hours to get checked in. We were in and out.

edit to above: We found everything very clean. We had no issues with that at all. And as I said, so much more comfortable than Disney. I'm sure if I would fork out the $$$ for something other than value resorts I'd get a softer bed, but if I have to do that, I'll just go to Nick!

Thanks wtrmlnlabs!! Great to hear, especially since you just came back from there!! so sorry to hear your son was sick while there.

Ok, I feel much better about booking this hotel. One more question guys- are all the suites cartoon characters themed or do I have to specifically request one? It's only 3 of us, myself, my daughter & my Grandson (4), but we really want to get one of those "themed" rooms- do I have to request it?

Also any tips about the place appreciated!!!

Been there twice, once in March of last year then again in June. Bother times we got a 2 bedroom. The kids love it there of course, all the character and the character breakfast was fun. Of course the arcade was a hit! They have shuttles to Disney, Universal, etc. I just wish the 2 bedrooms had a kitchen instead of the mini fridge and the microwave. I don't get why the one bedrooms have full size kitchens! Anyway, last June we took the shuttle to Epcot one day for DS's birthday, and MK one day. Oh, they have games for the PS in the arcade for rent.

Have fun!!!

All the rooms are themed. If your daughter cares which character, you can try to request. The rooms are clean, but somewhat small (and open to the outside, not a hallway). We've been there twice. Definitely worth it (although we prefer on-property). Do the character meal! Worth it! Have fun!

Yep, you can request a theme only once you are there checking in though:< And the Spongebob rooms are $25 a night extra. I think that's the only room that's extra, but I'm not positive about that.
