Part of the reason they were able to donate it all even though she has cancer is because they are Canadian. They didn't need the money to pay off crippling medical debts.

It's such a great thing they did.

They also saved intelligently for their retirement. So between most of their costs being covered by health care and their smart financial planning - they're in great shape!

I like how the first thing they did was sit down and make a list. Family first, and then the hospitals, etc... Then when people called to ask for money, they were able to honestly say "No, sorry, it's all spent."

I bet some grandkids got educational funds!
