Many of you may have seen the survey I currently have running (click here for survey and click here for the forum thread), that will close a week from today on the 19th.

I'm ready to start working on the next survey and am looking for ideas. Please keep in mind that this would be larger than a poll, which is a single question. This would be a fully functional survey.

Some suggestions have been (keep in mind that there is no way to identify a respondant unless they self identify in comments or some text area):

  • Who are the DCVers. What regions are they from? what industries to they work in? What are their incomes? Etc.
    • Is this of interest? What woudl some other questions be?
  • Restaurant Survey
    • This could be interesting because so far, most of the ratings I have seen are from people who write books and articles. I have not seen data based on what people who eat there think.
    • This would be large and probably broken up in to several surveys (possibly by resort or theme park. or other).
    • Your ideas here would be great.
  • Any suggestions you have for other surveys would be terrific. I think that having data other than annecdotal is a great tool. This interesting in the current survey where the data looks like it will be very interesting.
Thanks!

Since renting points is a controversial subject, I'd be interested in a survey on renting

Areas to explore:

How many of us have ever rented? If yes, To strangers? Only to family or friends? Number of times? Price? How did you find renter - on DIS? Ebay? elsewhere?
Did all go smoothly? Did renter cancel? Did you refund or reschedule? Use a contract of some kind?

As you know, many believe reserving first and then renting the reservation is morally wrong / unfair to other members especially if reservation is for popular weeks. Wonder how often people who frequent these boards do it that way?

How many of us would support total elimination of renting (assuming it is even legally possible)? Wish DVC would not give any member perks to renters? Think the whole thing is a "tempest in a teapot"

Hi,

How about how many have stayed on points outside of WDW. Where and how was the resort. Would they stay there again.

Jim.

There seems to be an interest on finding out information from other members not on this board (the other 88,000 DVC members ;) ). It would be great if you could get the survey link printed in the next newsletter and have all of the DVC members give it a whirl. Then we could ask our normal questions to see if the DISboard population reflects DVC as a whole.

Rental experience might be good, both as leasee and leasor. Would be interested if people could PM me some questions they'd like to see asked.

On another note, I'd love to survey the other 88,000 DVC owners, but I doubt DVC would let me get at them.

Looks like somebody's hooked on surveys! (That's great - I'm an info junkie, too!)

Regarding restaurants, don't forget that the DIS has it's own Ratings and Reviews section - not limited to DVC, but something to consider.

Add me to the list of those curious about renting - it's probably something that we'll end up doing now and then; and as CarolMN pointed out, it's been a hot topic here in the past. I guess I'd like to see: past practices - what, when, how many points, cost per point per resort, etc.; future plans (always dicey :() and then some of the opinion issues: Renting is A-OK; I don't care; those who rent points are in league with the devil / democrats / republicans / the aliens that beam the voices into my brain....

Since you asked, I'm always much more interested in things that are directly related to DVC ownership than I am in how many proctologists who live west of the Mississippi River own at BCV. ;)

ETA: No disrespect meant to either proctologists, people who live west of the Mississippi River and/or BCV owners. :wave2: :sad2: :wave2:

I can see your point about the restaurants, so I think I'll skip that one.

The renting idea is interesting, but I would definitely need help with that one, because the questions don't spring into my head, aside from some very basic ones. Having neither let or leased I'm not all that familiar with the topic.

Are there any other subject areas that are candidates for a survey? Something that lends itself to multiple questions?
