Yep, I'm talking about video games. My brother, who only posts on a somewhat Nintendo slanted forum, wants some unbiased opinions of the three "next-gen" consoles: the XBox360, the Playstation 3, and the Wii. They all have merits, but which do you prefer and why?

Personally, I like the Wii. Why? It just looks like more fun! The PS3 and XBox offer better graphics and features like Blu-Ray and uber-computing power, but they don't really matter to me when I have a computer, a CD player, and a DVD player. Wii has games that sound interesting, and have good standing based on previous releases in the case of franchises, and the genuinely different playing style is refreshing when video games are usually sold on graphics alone. The price is more attractive to a low roller like me, too.

There are my two bits, just a humble opinion from an average player. What are your thoughts on these warring giants? And please, no bashing of any consoles, companies, or other people's opinions. It's most unbecoming :sad2:

I've only played a 360, out of the three. The 360 has an AMAZING controler. The graphics are beautiful. Overall, the best console I've ever used.

The Wii is doing fantastic in sales. I'm considering getting one. They also have a traditional controler, if you're not interested in using the motion ones.

The PS3. Where do I start?... VERY expensive. Right now its really only going out to the fanboys, because well...who else would pay six hundred dollars for the thing? When the prices go down, it'll be doing better.

I have a PS2, and like it very much. There is NO way that I'm paying that much for a PS3 though. I haven't used any of those three.

I want the 360, great graphics and I'd rather have the 360 since I already have the XBOX and I can play some of my XBOX games on the 360.

I haven't had any experiance with any of the three, but I love both my PS2 and my GBA. When the PS3 gets fixed so we can play our old games and the prices go down I might get it.

I haven't played any of them, but I voted for the Wii. It looks like more fun then the other two, like you can get into the game more or whatever.

The Wii does look the most fun, but for now, Nintendo is absolutely ridiculous.

I dislike almost everything about Xbox, I have not had experience with the 360, but the old ones you need to go out and buy an expensive remote in order to play movies on it. The PS2 & 3 just play them, which is how I like it.

I am hardcore PS fan. We've had the PS1 & PS2, and the variety of games is better, the only downside is lack of controller ports, but I generally don't play videogames with more than one person. Actually, I hate multiplayer games. I like stuff like FFX. I'd buy the PS3 in a heartbeat if I had the money.

I am a nintendo fangirl so im gonna have to say the Wii.
Its the easiest to play for me because of the control seeing im used to using a joystick.

I'm not a video game person, but the WII commercial looked the most decent out of all of them.

I've played the 360 many, many times. Countless hours with my cousin. Ugh. One week, about every waking minute of it was playing his 360.

And I loved it. Like Shelby said, the 360 has an AMAZING controller. Really, Microsoft nailed it with this. It's so comfortable to hold, you almost forget your holding it. The 360 has a great library of games, that is just getting better with each new release. From Smackdown Vs. Raw 2007, to Dead Rising, to Gears of War, to Oblivion, to the eventual release of Halo 3, the 360 just has amazing games. It's fairly priced, and you get quite a bit for your money's worth.

Now onto the Wii. I'm a huge fan of this little marvel. The graphics are a lot better than I expected, and the innovative new style of play seems interesting. It has a fun lineup of games, and the ability to download old games from old systems is what sold it to me. It's small, portable, and most importantly, very affordable. Sure it doesn't have the power of the 360, and technically, it doesn't hold a candle to the PS3, but this little thing is supprising with how good it actually is. This isn't another GameCube, this is much, much more. Am I going to buy it? You betcha.

Onto the PS3. I have all the respect in the world for Sony, but the PS3 looked shakey. To be honest, if I want the best system to play on my big flat screen HDTV with surround sound and all that other technical mumbo-jumbo, I'm buying a PS3. The only problem is, I might get shot if I'm seen with one. (gasp!) But, it has a solid lineup of games, and although rather pricey, it's a lot less than what I was hearing. (I was hearing upwards of a thousand). I'll buy one. Eventually. After the price has come down in a year or two, and I won't have to hire the mafia to protect me while I buy one.

In order...

Xbox 360 > Wii > PS3

Well, I guess I am not keeping up with the raising generation lol.

I have an XBox that broke some years ago and I have a PS2 that I rarely use now. I have a Playstation (the first) and that made me happy lol. I didn't need the high-tech graphics or advanced settings or what not. I was perfectly content with my Playstation lol. I also had a VERY old nintendo that belonged to my dad from when he was a teen. Needless to say, it met its expiration date lol. But at the time of its "lively" existance, it entertained me lol.

I suppose the Wii looks interesting and out of the three listed, I would buy the Wii...it just seems to offer what the others don't, and that is, the ability to "play"...like being able to wave around those controllers and play that way. I have an "Eye Toy" for PS2 and that is quite entertaining, especially with a large group of friends...I also liked the DDR games with the mat, those are fun. I guess I am just an active person lol.

PS3-
Built in memory. No more use for memory cards, which would keep my infinitely happy. I hate memory cards because I constantly lose them.
DVD player. The only reason I ever loved the PS2.
The ability to play PS1, PS2, and PS3 games on it. See, the thing I love about Sony, is that their consoles all use discs, so you can play your old gams on your new console. And I love how the controller doesn't really change, the layout is the same, so you don't have to get used to a new controller, you have two choices for navigating (joystick and buttons). You can use your PS1 controller on the PS2 and I'm assuming the PS3. The joystick, is why I hate Nintendo controllers.

The Xbox one had no need for memory cards. The Xbox has a DVD player I believe. Some 360 games are backwards compatible, and you can DL games from virtually every nintendo system ever made, plus some Sega ones. The Xbox uses disks, as well as the Gamecube and Wii. The layout for the Xbox 360 controller is the same as the first xbox one. You can move with both the d-pad and the joysticks on the Xbox and Gamecube, and I believe the Wii as well. :confused3

I don't know about the Xbox 360, but when we had the normal Xbox, we couldn't play movies on it, as you need to go out and buy a remote. We weren't going to go and buy one as it was my uncle's and we didn't like it enough to keep.

I hate the Xbox controllers.
And I'm just completely biast and stick with what I know. I've never liked any of the Nintendo systems, and the Xbox bored me.

yeah, you had to get the remote, but thats like 9 dollars. and totally worth it. :confused3

I love the controlers. Very very smooth. The 360 controler is smoother, but the original is still really good.

I got a Wii with Zelda at launch, and have enjoyed it so much. Played 15 hours into Zelda and easily my most favorite game. I enjoy the controller layout for Zelda on Wii. It may not be 1:1 sword fighting (you just swing and the sword moves, but it is actually more entertaining that way.

Since the nunchuk acts alot like the Sixaxis (Sony controller) because it can sense 6 degrees of motion, you can shake the nunchuk and Link does a sword spin. The fishing in this game could be released as a seperate game. Spinning the nunchuk brings the reel in. Hookshot, slingshot, Gale Boomerang, and the Arrow are using the the Wiimote itself to aim on screen. Now that is some intuitive stuff right there!

Wii Sports has amazing controls for a launch game that is packed in with the system. All of my friends came over and we all played it for hours. All of them enjoyed it, and one is going to get one now. We played for quite awhile using the Mii Channel on it.

I don't regret buying it at all.
