What Country should be represented in EPCOT that is not there? I don't know how they choose what countries to include. It has to be hard. If a political problem occurs with the USA and that Country it might get a bit tense. I have heard of people that wouldn't visit France for example when they didn't support the war in Iraq. It's just Disney for gosh sakes.

I would like to see Vietnam there, but that probably will never happen. Vietnam is a beautiful country with a rich culture and food. My fiance is Vietnamese and I've visited the country. When Americans hear Vietnam they think war. Perhaps in a few generations that will be different.

EPCOT has China which is a communist country. They don't have Russia, which is a big source of cultural experiences. THey don't have India which is a vast country but they do have Morraco.

I know I've seen other threads, but I was thinking of this today - I do wish they could represent Russia!! DS's gf is from Russia, and she gets downright funny trying to explain the slight she feels that they dont have Russia... mind you she is an American citizen, came over from Russia when she was 7, and she doesnt like me telling people she's Russian, she'll pipe up, "no, I'm American".... so forgive me friend!! (being 6 generations in America, with Native American thrown in the mix... I love hearing of people's heritage, mine is pretty much Texan!!)

I think Russia would be amazing. I also like the India idea! Maybe Australia? Envision a scaled down replica of the Sydney Opera House....

Oh Australia would be great.

My DD and I were discussing this today. We came up with Australia, too, as well as Brazil (Carnivale, anyone?), Spain/Portuagal (oh, the food!), and Egypt. I'd love to see Russia, but because the countries pay for the sites, I doubt it would happen. It's very expensive to host a pavillion at EPCOT.

I'd love to see some new countries, though! Hey, what about a Caribbean country, or Greece?

Australia was my first thought too. Or New Zealand.

I've always wanted to see Egypt go in there. They'd have the perfect opportunity for a competitor ride for The Mummy, that's for sure.

I would welcome any of the countries mentioned in this thread. I would probably lean towards India (love the cuisine) though. Who am I foolin', I'd be happy to see any new country there!

I think Greece is a fantastic idea! Ouzo anyone? Opah! :drinking:

Seriously though, there has to be a Greek mythology themed ride in our new pavilion.

Egypt, yes!
Australia, yes!
Greece, yes!
Russia, yes! Great ideas!

How about adding, to the American pavilion, some attraction about American sports. They could have rotations, year-round, of various sports' stars giving talks and autographs--baseball, football, basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, etc. in a sports setting like a mini football field with astroturf or a mini-baseball diamond, etc. Kids could try throwing, kicking, batting, serving, putting, etc.
That would distribute the crowds from TT and Soarin' once World Showcase opens. I know there is the Wide World of Sports, but, really, not many people go there, do they?

Spain, the most visited country in Europe.
A country with many contrasts, cultures and languages.

The pavillion was already designed, ready to be built but something happened with the spanish government that didn't agree with Disney terms.

:) Egypt or Greece has my vote. I would also love to see a Native American additon. I realize this would be difficult because of the diversity, and also because of funding, but I would still like to see it. :)

I never even go to the American Pavilion! Having grown up in the northeast, I've been to Philadelphia, Boston, Plymouth Rock, etc. so it holds no interest for me (except for the funnel cake, sad to say).

Absolutely Russia or Greece! How about the Netherlands? Scotland? Ireland?

Actually, I think it would do us some good to have a Muslim country represented.

I have always thought that Egypt would be the best country to add. It would be the easiest country to create a pavilion around becasue of all the huge temples, tombs, and monuments.

The decision of what country to add is not entirely based on what Disney thinks will sell; each pavilion in World Showcase is sponsored and financially supported by its namesake nation. A deal with Spain was actually very close a few years ago, but wound up falling through at the last minute.

Without the direct financial support of the country, and agreements to bring in natives of the country to work the pavilion, Disney will not build it.

I think the Netherlands would be great! I am part Dutch, and I have been to the Netherlands. There is lots of history there, and good food too!

No doubt...Australia! I love Australian people! Although....I bet they could do Australia in Animal Kingdom instead...since Australia has the world's most bizarre animals!

I think either Egypt or Australia too. They could do a great pyramid and Tutenkhamuns tomb exhibit with some mummies in there or for Australia they could have Ularoo and some Aborigone people represented with maybe a mini Sydney opera house and harbour bridge.
