It's been a while since I've been to the Smokies, but, I'm thinking 4-5 hrs?? Maybe 6. The mountains are in Tn/N. C..

Beautiful. Relaxing. Big time crafty type shopping in Gatlinburg. Gambling on the Indian reservations in N.C. Horseback riding.

I'm gonna take a good book and some walking shoes and have at it....

Gets me giddy just thinking about it.

Ann--did you see the 7 and 8 bedroom cabins??? WOW!

That would be room enough for all of the CLs to "retreat" and get some R&R!

Oh, yeah, Debbie--there are camp sites in the area, too. That's what we used to do.....fun, 'cept for the skunks that always strolled through looking for food.

Better than the bears, I guess.

HI TERI!!! Welcome home! Glad you had fun at the Dolphin!

Sue.....those places are gorgeous! I would be bringing BOOKS (plural) as I read fast! So where would a northeasterner fly to...is there anywhere closer than Louisville? I don't gamble ---or horseback ride (that's DD's department ;) ) but I definitely get into the "crafty shopping" and "relax" part :)

I forgot to mention---I like Bob's new tag "Screams like a little girl"

:teeth:

Altho, I did request "runs like a schoolgirl". :p:p:p:p:p:p

I think the TF got a little confused and forgot what I asked.

Oh, well--close enuff!

Hi Teri - glad that you had a great time. :)

Sue - that places looks awesome!! :) I have barely been out of Florida so I would not know what to do looking at mountains and such!!

Oh, yeah, Ann---lots of closer airports. Not sure if Ashville, NC would be the closest or if it would be one of the Tenn airports.

We'll have to check.

DH wants me to bookmark that link hehehe. That's his idea of a relaxing vacation.....out in the woods!
Sounds good to me for a girls-only cheerleader meet too though! :)

If I could afford it I would go - with the move and all I am not sure. :)

The mountains in the fall are amazing. In the morning, you can watch the mist rise out of the mountains as the weather begins to warm and it looks like clouds rising to the heavens.

Wildlife abounds. The deer watch you as intently as you watch them, before they turn, and run. AMd you wish you could run with them.

The colors startle and hypnotize you.

You find yourself saying "No--look over there. Look how pretty that is. " And "Oh, my God"over and over.

And, for a while, you commune as one, with the heavens and the earth. Peace overtakes your soul. You have found heaven on earth.

Christine--it would not be right away. You'd have time to save enough money.

Something like this would take some time to arrange.

And while beautiful, I wouldn't go there in the winter with deadlines and such. Might snow, you know.

Snow??? Now that is something I have never seen. :)

It doesn't have to be teasing...We could look at fall, 2003 or something like that.

It's something to think about anyway.

I just meant that I could really use that kind of getaway right now. :)

I am up for a fall meet there in 2003.

Yikes. Sue..you could writetravel brochures...or at least teach relaxation techniques...I was getting relaxed reading your description!! Definitely something to think about for a 2003 thingie!
Now that I am relaxed, I must get to bed. Hopefully the 2/3 of a pint of Ben&Jerry's Fudge Central I just ate will not interefere

Night everyone!

Nite Ann!!!

Talk to you tomorrow, my friend!

Night Ann - I agree that Sue should do some writing for these places. She can get more Disney money that way. :)

Awww--you guys are too nice to me...
