The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

the only size they had left was 4/5. Any idea what approx. age that translates into? I knew to stick them waay back in the closet but just curious.

I was thinking between 12-18 mos. too for size 4-5. I would start trying them on him at about a year old.

So do babies usually pick up on the fact that you're sick and decide to be big fuss butts that day??

We had our morning routine this morning except instead of cuddling in bed like we normally do (where he usually "talks to me" for about a half hour) I put him back in his crib because I'm sick.
He SCREAMED his head off for a good 20 minutes before I went and got him. As soon as I picked him up he smiled and "coo-ed" at me.

Little flirt.

Ok DD is 6 weeks she is taking between 4-5 oz. of formula. She has been going down around 9:30 and getting up around 2am and then again at 5 am. Once up at 5 am it is usually for the day till she naps later in the morning. I wish I could get a longer stretch out of her between 2 & 5am. :confused3

I am just curious how everyone elses little ones are eating and sleeping.

Gotta play catch up since I realized I haven't posted in a couple of days! ;)

I did not know that loss of hair can occur because of bfing. I don't seem to have that problem luckily (at least no more than usual) but that's very interesting.

Patsy-cute crocs! As far as Lucas being a fuss-butt, they do seem to pick up on the most inopportune times to make a fuss about something! But it goes to show that he was missing his momma-son time this morning!

Sarah-I'm glad you are getting to hook up with an old high school buddy. I am meeting some of mine while I'm back in AL next week. FB is great for reestablishing old friendships! And new mommy's groups are a great way to connect with other moms who are probably going through some of the same things we are. I am waiting for dd to get in preschool before I start going to one at my hospital on Tuesdays.

Ann-as far as babies sleeping, Zander usually gives me about three to four hours in between feedings each night. He usually goes down around 11:00 for the night (for some reason he thinks between 9 and 11 should be our "talking" time, which is very cute BTW, I just wish it was a different time of the day!) and then gets back up anywhere between 1:30-2:30 and then gets back up at about 6:00.

Zander is very sporadic on his amounts. Of course, I can't tell how much in ozs. he's getting when bfing but when I give him a bottle its usually between 4 and 6 ozs. And sometimes that 6 ozs. is after I just bfed him! :scared1:

Ouch! thats early!! Mine are switching around constantly. Last night I gave in and let Vinny sleep in my bed, and he slept ALL NIGHT. :worship: Jasmine woke up around 3 and they both woke up at 7 for the day. They pretty much have that down. Both waking at 7 for the day. On a normal night they wake between midnight and 3am for a feeding. Sometimes they wake up together... sometimes not.

Lilliana is 11 weeks today. For the past 2 nights she has slepted through the night. She went down between 9 and 10:00 and I woke her up at 8:00. She does sleep with me so I am not sure if that make a difference. I go back to work in a couple of weeks so I now give her formula during the day. She drinks 4oz bottles about every 3 hours. Her morning and night feedings are breast fed. I am just hoping that I don't end up drying up since I am not bfing all day. When I was ebf I didn't notice much hair loss, I have had really dry hair though.

Lucas eats 8oz at a time... he gets a bottle before bed (usually about 10pm)... he'll sleep until about 9:30am, have another bottle around noon, another around 4:30-5 and then the one at bed.

He was 10wks yesterday.

Natalie is 8 weeks today. She takes a 5 oz. bottle every 4 hours during the day. I feed her at 10 pm and she sleeps from 10:30 pm to 5-6:30 am. Then falls back asleep until 7:30 or so. I can't wait for the day that she sleeps straight until 7:30:worship:. But I must say I am thrilled that she sleeps much right now. I am nervous about next week when we have our 2 month check-up. I hope she does not have a bad reaction to the shots.

Katie is 13 wks today. She wakes up around 5 or 5:30 (which is good for me since I have to be at work at 7:25) and nurses. She gets 3 bottles of around 5 or 6 oz of breast milk (whatever I've pumped the day before) at daycare, around 9, 12, and 3. Then she nurses as soon as we get home, around 4:30, for as long as she can stay awake! She pretty much nurses every hour or 2 until around 8, then she gets her bath and is ready for bed around 9 or 10, which of course means she nurses to sleep! Can you tell she really likes nursing! She has been sleeping through the night most nights, but will sometimes wake up around 2 or 3. She sleeps with me, though.

Hi everyone, I'm not a "new mom". I am a "new grandma"! I've been reading your threads, the moms to be one and this one for quite a while! My "new" grandson will be 4 months old Saturday!

Technically, I didn't meet him until about 2am the next morning. :headache:

I think I'll get there but right now it still makes me cry.

Had TLC on today (watching Jon and Kate + 8 :rolleyes1) and a Baby Story came on.
Lady had the same thing as me-- was taken into a c-section after labor and I cried. So ridiculous. Waiting on that to go away. :sad2:

Don't feel too bad about needing the c-section after being in labor. I know it is disappointing, especially with your first baby. But you WILL get over it. That is the norm for my family. No female in my family starting with my 84-year old mother has been able to have a baby ******lly. We just had the 15th C-section! My mother had 3-me and my 2 older sisters. My oldest sister had 4 babies by C-section, her three daughters have (as of last week) now had a total of 4 C-sections, my other sister has only one child, but he was a C-section, and I had my 3 children by C-section! All of us were in labor with at least the first child, but all ended in C-sections. The 2 latest are my 2 nieces, one had her son almost 2 years ago, dilated to 9, then stopped and had a section. The other had her first baby (a girl) on July 30th, having a section after several hours of labor and only dilating to 2 or 3.

The only ******l birth babies are my nephew's 2 children and my grandson, all of whose mothers were not biologically in our family!

The next in line to give it a try will be my 18 year old daughter who just got married last week! Hopefully, she won't be having any babies until after college. Unfortunately, her DH and his siblings were all 9 or 10 pound babies, so I doubt that DD will be the one to "break the curse", as we've humorously been calling the non-ability to have ******l births!

thanks for all of the answers about the hair loss. I was pretty sure that it was normal- but it just seems like SO much hair. I have also lost all of my baby weight plus about 7-8lbs. My husband is a nurse practioner and is a little worried about the weight loss and wants me to get my thyroid checked if it keeps up. i think it is because i am exclusively BF and probably not eating enought.

It is tough to know how much allison gets with BF, but with a bottle during the day, she takes between 4-6oz approx every 3 hrs. it depends on her naps. she naps so sporadically lately. in the morning, she sleeps anywhere from 45 min to 4 hours then another 30 min to 2 hrs in the afternoon. sometimes she takes a third nap if she doesn't nap too long at the others or she ends up falling asleep at her 5pmish feedings. i feed her again at 730 for the night,. sometimes she falls asleep for the night, sometimes she stays awake for a little while. she goes down between 8 and 930 and sleeps until about 6 which is what time i need her to wake up the days i go to work.

we still either hold her or rock her until she falls asleep or she falls asleep BF. it is a bad habit that we need to break, but she does sleep through the night so i am not quick to want to change things.

She is 21 weeks old now- crazy how time flies!

Hi Ann,
Ours did the same thing around that age. He would eat around 9-10 and sleep until 2, get up, eat, then sleep until 5-6. Now, he usually sleeps from 10-7 or 8. I would wake my LO during the day every 2 hours to eat even if he was sleeping. Changing him woke him right up. If he went back to sleep, it was ok. Then if I fed him at 9, I would change him right before bed and try to feed once more. He still wakes occasionally around 2 but only if he's gassy or has a mega soaked diaper. That worked for him to stretch a little more at night. I hope she starts to even out for you. ;)

It is disappointing. I need to stop watching a Baby Story. :rotfl:

I was induced and I managed to dilate to 10 (with heavy doses of Pitocin that is ;)) but Lucas was too big for my pelvis bone.

At 39wks he was 9lbs 5oz, the biggest baby in our family history. I was also the first to EVER have a c-section. Lucky me! :rotfl:

No idea what happened, DH was 5lbs even. :confused3

Thank you for sharing with me, though. It is also nice to know that my mixed up feelings are nothing unique to me!

....previous mommies, are swim diapers available in the winter months?
I plan to do a "Mommy and Squirt" swimming lesson in the winter and I found a package of swim diaper on clearance at Krogers yesterday for $3. Do I need to try to buy some now for his classes this winter?? :confused3

I would get some now *just in case* and especially while they're on clearance. They may be available in the winter (I honestly can't remember if they were or not), but it's better to have and not need than need and not have. In moderation, of course. ;)

Unfortunately the package I found were Large. I went ahead and bought it because my parents have a pool and I KNOW he'll use them... but c'mon, 30lbs? It'll be awhile. I just shoved those under the crib. :rolleyes1

Rite Aid has them for $6.99... guess I'll buy a few packages of the small ones for this winter, just in case. I think $6.99 is cheapest I've ever seen them... Wal*Mart has them for $10.99.

Still waiting on the YMCA to release winter schedule. I figure he'll need small, though. :confused3

No, he won't be wearing large this winter. But I would get some in the size you think he will be wearing. Even if they aren't $3.

Man, now I feel bad...I know Lily is still really young, but she's usually up every 1-2 hours from about 11-6am. And now she's sleeping less during the day too. Yesterday she only slept about 9 hours total.

Don't feel bad. Every baby is different!
I can't remember how old Lucas was before he finally slept through the night. Luckily, I can probably find it in this thread so I can put it in his baby book... :rotfl:

She just enjoys spending time with you, thats all. ;)
Hopefully you get her nights and days turned around.

...well, off to the college to pay our tuition. The only thing that makes me somewhat happy about it is to think of all the Disney Dream Dollars we'll be getting!

Good Morning girls. It is the weekend!!!:yay: Does anybody have any special plans. We don't. I am hoping for some cooler mornings so I can get Natalie and myself out for a walk. I had my doctors app't yesterday, all is well. I can resume a regular schedule. Yipee:thumbsup2

I have one sleepy baby this morning. She has pretty much slept all day and it is 11:30. Lazy bones. She needs to get up so she can get out of her PJ's.

Forget baby books, just print the thread out and have it bound.
