The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Is anyone cloth diapering?? My babies seem to be getting really bad diaper rashes with the cloth diapers... and I thought that cloth was supposed to be a lot better for rashes. :confused3 I dont know if it the detergent they use, or what.

This is what Katie looked like last night:

And this was this morning:

It is now noted in her chart that she is allergic to penicillin! She has to take Zyrtec every day for 2 wks. The rash may last up to two weeks, and will leave purple bruises as it leaves. Her legs already have purple spots-looks like we beat her! I have to watch for swelling of her joints. If that happens, they will put her on steroids. The dr. took her around the clinic to show all the nurses so they would know what this looks like if they ever see it again. She looks so pitiful!:guilty:

She loves sweet "taters"! This was her first time in her high chair.

:eek:OMG!!! That poor baby! Poor mama! That must be awful to see your baby like that!:hug:

Yep, makes me sick to look at her this way. I took her with me to school this morning to drop the kids off and leave assignments. I told my boss that I was so sorry to be out again, and he told me to quit worrying about it, that his son did the same thing as a baby, and that I was NOT overreacting. That made me feel good. His wife is the school nurse, and he called her over from the elementary to look at her, and she told me to go straight to the dr. I have used 5 of my 9 sick days, and the year isn't anywhere near halfway over!:guilty:But what choice do I have?

That looks like the reaction my 2 have to augmentin!! Mind you, not sure if I'm going to try it w/the 3rd or not. My kids are frequent ear infection flyers, ended up w/tubes etc etc and what are they allergic to...ear infeciton med!

patsy, soorry you are having a hard time.

------
wow, that is some reaction to meds. Scary. DS got hives from amoxycillin but not that bad. Poor baby and momma

She still has fluid behind her ears, but they didn't want her on anymore antibiotic right now. They are going to re-evaluate the situation on Nov. 17. Which I'm afraid will mean tubes.:guilty:

Awww ... Poor Katie. That looks horrible but she doesn't seem to phased by it. I hope she gets better quick.

I can't believe I forgot!

It passed!! So everything is cool. I'll probably have to go back to full time in January, which will suck, but at least the library is surviving!

Thanks for asking!

Yay for the library surviving! Sorry about the full-time work.

I'm using cloth (you inspired me) and I've noticed Alexis can get a little red. So far no rash though. The only way DH got on board for cloth this time (which he never has been before) was that we used disposables at night. So, I always put a little Desitin (sp?) on her after the bath as the disposable goes on. That seems to help a lot. I wash with Charlie's which is what the lady who sold me the diapers recommended. (No diaper service in this state.) But Country Save and BioKleen are supposed to be good too. Maybe you could ask them which detergent? I've been reading the forums at Diaperswappers.com and some babies do better with one certain brand than another.

I put a disposable on Vinny tonight.. I hope it helps him out. I think it might be the covers. When they get damp and rub on his little legs. I also have started putting ointment on them. Poor little things! They havent ever had a diaper rash before. I might just start using regular cloth diapers and stop the service.

I checked Southwests website tonight.. and they had lowered the price of our flights by $10! So we got the $60 back in credit!! :cool1: Which my mom has already used for her trip to Vegas over Thanksgiving. :lmao: She was thrilled that I looked it up though. I was reading that they have infant fares, for babies under the age of two.. So I called to see what that was, and it was $199 each way. :scared1: We only paid $89. as it was!! CRAZY!

I also checked the flight time.. its an 8 hour flight. OY. Maybe I can just take a big stick and knock everyone else out. :lmao: I got our ressies for Ohana today.. :cool1:

Yay Ohana!!

So I went to bed with a sore throat last night, woke up at 4am with a REALLY sore throat, woke up at 8am feeling much better. It was really weird. I'm still congested and my throat hurts a bit, but I feel way better than at 4am.

At 4am I was trying to decide what I would rather do: go to work sick or take care of Lily sick. I'd rather work! It's less work!

My grandma is taking care of Lily today, which I'm not super thrilled about. My mom had to work an emergency day at her job. My grandma is great, but I worry about her (75) taking care of an infant. She had to bring a folding chair bc she says our couches are too hard to get out of. The situation makes me really dread going back fulltime.

I wish I could quit, but DH and I really want out of our city before Lily starts school. There are 3 people retiring in my library system, so I'm hoping a nice part time position might become available. But I would make less than half of what I make now. It almost wouldn't be worth it at all at that point.

Our plan is for me to maybe quit when my DH finishes his masters and get s a significant pay bump at the school, which would be about 3 years from now.

I'm going to stop rambling now!

december, I hope Katie clears up quickly! That is horrible looking but she doesn't appear to be too bothered by it?
DH is allergic to penicillin (actually, my dad is too!) but our pediatrician told us that doesn't increase the chances that Lucas will be allergic to it. Now I'm afraid to try.

Sarah, you guys want out of Cleveland or want out of the part you live in? I'm confused. I thought you loved Cleveland?
I can see what you mean about it not being worth it. That is how we made the decision for me to stay home... almost my entire check would have been eaten with driving expenses, daycare expenses, etc. so it just didn't pan out.

The longer that I'm home the more I am getting used to it... I'm not sure that I want to go back either. Don't tell my DH that!! :rotfl: DH makes enough at work for us to live quite comfortably off and then all the VA benefits (disability, GI Bill) have allowed us to get some nicer things like my Jeep! I'm such a Jeep girl. I coupon like crazy now and I feel like that is my way of contributing financially.
I have now started introducing the idea of my staying home (still getting the degree!) but not looking for a job until the youngest kid is in pre-school. I think I want 3 now, too. My how quickly my mind changed!! Of course, it all sorta depends on DH getting help. *sigh*

I don't think he'd be able to handle my going back to work. He doesn't clean, do laundry, cook or anything like that now that I'm home...

Oh well. Only time will tell for us....

December- How is Katy doing? Poor little thing. Does the rash seem to bother her at all? Are her ears clearing up?

3 weeks from today is Thanksgiving!!! Time is flying by:scared1:

December - Poor Katie! It doesn't itch, does it?

Meijer has 75% off Halloween now. No candy or decor left, but I did get 3 pairs of Carters long sleeved jammies for the kiddos for $7.50. 2 have little monster eyes on the shirt and ghosts and green monsters on the pants, and one is a long sleeved footed jammie with little Frankenstein's. If they had more in different sizes I would have taken all of them. But of course, they were cleared out.

For those that love to coupon, there is a Disney blog with tons of coupon offers and links. I followed it a while back and it really helped saved some $$$ for Disney! http://couponingtodisney.blogspot.com/

Jasmine CRAWLED today!! :cool1: So crazy... After, what? Two months of Vinny trying to crawl, Jasmine just popped up on her knees and took a few scoots.:lmao: It was so awesome! Vinny just watched her.. and rolled over onto his back. He is so goofy. I about DIED the other day.. Jasmine has been sitting up on her own for a while, but not Vinny. We figure.. how could the poor kid with a head that big?? :lmao: ANYWAYS! The other day I finally got him sitting alone. Next to Jasmine. SO CUTE.. right? Not to Jasmine! She reached over and knocked him down!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: She just grabbed his face and PUSHED! These babies are so funny!

I have been working on Natalie crawling, she is soooo not interested. She is just 4 1/2 months right now but still. I think she will walk before she crawls.

Katie is better today. She still looks bad, but so much better than she did!

Katie started getting up and rocking on her knees at about 4mos. We were sure she would crawl any day, but just started last week (she'll be 6 mos on the 14th). She can sit up and prop on one hand. I bought a bunch of baby proofing stuff over the weekend, and we have to get to work getting it all done.

Well..CJ has his first ear infection  He did better than my other 2. they both had them before they were 2 months old, he made it over 6!

For those of you on facebook...I'm posting some pics now, should be done soon, from vacation....

Okay, I gave in. Lucas got carrots tonight.

He liked them! :)

Are you guys getting the H1N1?? I just found out there will be 7 clinics here in the upcoming weeks. I'm eligible for 5 of them... being a "household contact with an infant <6months"... so I'm thinking I should do it. I spend hours a week at the college and then even more at a local elementary school. I just don't know! Ergh. I hate this. I couldn't find a seasonal flu shot but here is the H1N1 ready for me to get!
(and I would also like to make a brief complaint about the fact that everyone in the house has been sleeping soundly but myself. Dang that sweet tea!)
