The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

Hi there WL lovers!

As a special Christmas gift, I'm taking both my parents and my girlfriend to Disney for a week 12/9-12/16 (after a nice Carribean cruise). I like to try different resorts and change it up a little each time...so for this trip, I figured we'd go all the way and stay at the Wilderness Lodge (been 15 years since my parents were last at WDW).

I wanted to book 2 standard rooms and had a few questions I'm hoping ya'll could help me with...

1) Should I use a travel agent to stay on top of these rooms? We'll be there for 7 days, so I'm considering getting an AP myself...but I noticed there aren't any discounts out yet. I didn't know if having someone else coordinate this would help increase my chances of getting a discount on the 2 rooms (or even if there's a chance I could get a discount with an AP). Trying to get the best price.

2) We need non-smoking, but as for the other requests...I was aiming for 6th Floor, North Wing, Standard View. But I didn't know if there was specific rooms I should be gunning for? I know they can only fit so much into the computer when making requests...and with 2 rooms, I figured we'd need to be more flexible anyway.

Those are the two main things I'm trying to figure out now...so any help/advice you can offer is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Chris :)

 Hi ya'll

Did I mention I have a question? DH & I are staying @ WL Nov 25-Dec 2, 2006 for our 20th wedding anniverary. We have the following booked:

Nov. 25th - Room only (courtyard)
Nov 26-Dec 1 - Platinum Pkg (courtyard)
Dec 2 - Room only (courtyard)

We had wanted to stay in one of these rooms, what would they be called? :confused3

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, thank you !

Chris-
I have used Dreams Unlimited many times and they will stay on top of price changes, call in your requests for you plus make all your ADR's for you. SAving you all that time on the phone!
At the top of the Forums page click on Reservations and you can fill out the form there. They will assign you a TA and send you a price quote. You will be very happy with their service.

You can also use Small World Vacations to make your reservations (and monitor them for any discounts that may come out). If you choose to use a TA from one of the online travel planners, give them ALL of your requests. They'll see to it that the resort gets them. As for discounts....AAA is probably the best you can do without an AP. My TA (from SWV....see link below) booked rack rate then applied my AAA discount (once I enrolled with AAA). Now, she's monitoring my reservation for an AP discount...which should come out sometime in August for our Nov/Dec trip. Good luck to you!

anyone know whats up with the remodel?
I hear only floor 1 and 2 are left, I thought the Club level still had to be done to?
anyone?? :)

You are correct that club level has not yet been done. We arrive on July 19 and can only stay concierge until the 23rd because they are shutting down the floor for the last week in July for the renovations.

Hi everyone  i was wondering if anyone had the contact information for the manager at the Wilderness Lodge?
Thanks so much!

is there anywhere at WL you can weigh your luggage for the trip home? Don't want to pay overweight charges!!!

I've requested a roll in shower room at WL for my September trip. Every trip I try to eat once at WL because I love the decor and now I'm finally getting to stay there!

I've been told my room has been set aside and it's a woods view room. I've heard here that most of the roll in shower rooms face the DVC villas. I'm wondering if because I have a woods view does that mean I'm on the North wing? I'm trying to figure out how a DVC villa view could be considered a woods view or are all of the non courtyard rooms on the south wing just standard view rooms.

The family and I are coming to WL on Dec. 2 thru 8 and looking very forward to it. We would like to have a box delivered to the resort before we arrive with some disposable items that we won't bring home (cereal, fruit snacks, juice boxes, etc.) and we would like to also have a case or two of water delivered from Staples. That being said, what is the address we need to use to have these items delivered to WL. I know we need to have the Ressie # and arrival date added to the address so that it doesn't get lost. I am also aware that I need to call WL and let them know that the packages will be coming so that they are not refused. Any advice will be appreciated. Also, what does Bear Face mean? I am interested in a 4th floor room that opens at the lobby but we also have an interior courtyard view, and I keep seein a reference to Bear Face, so I was just curious? Thanks.

From www.allearsnet.com: "The WL is located at 901 Timberline Dr. Lake Buena Vista, FLA 32830. The phone number is 407-824-3200 and the fax is 407-824-3232."

Ok here I come again with some more questions! As I asked in my above question, what does Bear Face mean? I am trying to pin down where I want to ask for a particular room. I need a Bunk Bed, DD6 has medical condition. We also have an interior courtyard view. What rooms if any can anyone remember has bunkbeds and a courtyard view. I've got an idea of the area I would like, I think we would like the 4th floor, but if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone who recommended different travel agencies - we decided to go with one for this trip (will be the first time I went that route) and already I'm loving it. Nice to have someone else doing all the "heavy lifting" and spending the time on the phone.

Turns out "standard view" isn't available when we're going...and neither is Woods at the AAA rate...so we're in Courtyard view. Anyone have favorite rooms? I requested the ones on the "end" of the "V" on floors 4,5,6.

Also - any idea if the rehab has included high-speed Internet access being added?

Thanks again!

Chris :)

Hi, we stayed on sixth floor, standard view, north wing (6056) and it was a non smoking room - as I recall our whole wing was non smoking. You'll love it, we could see the castle and Wishes every night!

No, I believe the north wing 6th floor IS smoking rooms. We were there last week and that's where our room was (6005 requested smoking). ETA- Okay, you're right, my mistake- you were in the standard room section, we were in the woodsview. Sorry!

BTW- there is an awesome view of the fireworks from this floor not too far from the elevator. If you are coming from the vator (the ones that are close to Roaring Fork), go to your left to the end of the hallway. There are corner windows with shutters there- just pull open the shutters facing the north and you will see them. We were at MK on July 3rd to watch the fireworks (they were fantastic BTW) and were supposed to go to Epcot on the 4th to see the fireworks there. My feet ended up swelling during the day, so I opted to stay at the resort while DH took the kids to Epcot. I went down to the merchantile to pick up a package just before 9:00 pm and when I came back up, there were a couple of CMs standing there. I took my package to my room, then went back to see what they were looking at. The view was great!

This was our first trip to WL and we really liked it. We were in room 6005. Yes, it was a bit of a haul to the elevators, however, it was quiet and we had a balcony (courtyard view) to ourselves. Housekeeping was great! We had the same gal from day 2 thru day 5. She did a wonderful job cleaning the room, plus, much to our surprise, she left towel animals, dolls, etc. everyday! The pool was nice- always clean. The staff was always courteous, the atmosphere relaxing. DH and I were very pleased and are considering returning to this resort in the future.

Hey All,

I have been working with Debbie at Magical Journeys regarding my families trip in Feb. 07. She called 3 times yesterday and attempted to book a standard room but was advised that none show available in the system. We both think this is because they JUST released the 07 room pricing. Anyone on the "inside" know anything about this? I have a hard time believing that all the standard rooms are booked over 6 months out!

Mastamind -- I had the same thing happen -- we are looking at rooms in May '07, and only a courtyard or above is available!!

Chris

The Wilderness Lodge as had high-speed Internet Access for over a year now. The charge when we were last there in June was $9.95 per day/24 hour.

Hmmm, your statement seems to support my belief that this has to be a system issue. Maybe they should get that ironed out.... :thumbsup2
