Beckie,

You took some great pictures!

I love the one of the little bear in the net. So cute. I want one :)

Just returned from a fantastic week long stay at the WL.

Any questions please feel free to ask :goodvibes

Had a great stay at the WL Club Level Dec. 2-8. Here are the highlights:

Each year I have gifts for the kids and DW placed in the room before we checkin as a surprise. This year it was personalized Mickey stockings from Disney Florist and cards for them from Mickey and an anniversary card for DW. Sure enough we checked in and nothing was in the room. I checked with the Concierge and after some checking she found that the items were delivered as they were supposed to be the day before, but were left downstairs and they forgot to put them in the room. We had dinner reservations at Chef Mickey's so she asked what time they were and she would set everything up then to make it seem like Mickey came by while we were at dinner. When we came back everything was there including an additional fruit basket which was nice. I supposed that served as the apology for messing things up. The kids at 4 years and 20 months didn't know better, but DW knew I was extremely disappointed things weren't done right.

Boat service was very quick, but as others have mentioned they were running the smaller boats to the MK instead of the larger ones or at some times they were running one of each. Last year we had larger boat every time. Since we were travelling with a 20 month old with a full stroller, it was a real pain to unload and fold everything up to get on the smaller boat. In the evening when he was asleep in the stroller we had to wait for the larger boat. This was a real pain. I'm not sure why they are doing this. The last few days they also starting using a different boat I have never seen before, it was a bit bigger than the smaller boat, but it wasn't a big cruiser. We still had to fold the stroller so it wasn't any better for us. They were always running fast so there was never any long wait.

We took the bus to MGM and again with a stroller that needs to be folded, it's a pain. We've never taken our own car anywhere during our previous trips, but this time I decided during our second trip to MGM, we would try our own car, and drive from there to DTD. We had to get a prescription filled at a pharmacy offsite so we figured we would try driving to the parks. It was great. It was SO much easier with our own car, when we had to deal with the stroller. No waiting for a crowded bus. If you are travelling with a lot of extra gear and/or little ones, I suggest your own transportation to MGM/DTD instead of the buses. FYI - there is a service that will deliver prescriptions right to the WL for free (any DW resort for that matter), but I didn't want to worry about whether our insurance would cover it or not and didn't want to have that dictate our time schedule, but thought someone might want to know in case they need to use it.

Christmas decorations. Maybe it's me be each year I am less and less impressed with the Christmas decorations in the parks (except for the Osborne lights at MGM of course). The decorations seem to have a lot of fruit and things that make them seem more like 'fall' decorations or generic holiday decorations, vs. true Christmas decorations. It's hard to explain and I don't mean to offend anyone, but it just seems like both DW and I feel the decorations just aren't dazzling like you might expect. The area tucked back off the side of Main Street where Santa Claus appears for pictures is nicely done and it almost seems to contrast the rest of the decorations throughout MK.

Another thing I noticed...in years past people always brought there own lights and hung them on the balconies or in the windows. I didn't see one room that did that this year. We were in the north wing inner courtyard. I wanted to do it, but didn't want my little one yanking on the extension cord.

Weather was great, a little warm at the beginning and end (we live in south Florida so we were hoping for some cold weather) but it did get cold (relatively speaking). If you saw someone freezing in the pool at night with their son nice and warm in a wet suit that was me! I came prepared so DS4 could get plenty of time on that water slide. Wednesday night I think there were only 2 other people in the pool. The life guards had to be making fun of us.

Did notice that the lounge was definitely more crowded in the morning than during previous years. I'm guessing the inclusion of the Deluxe suites to the club level is making a difference. I didn't notice much difference during the evenings when everyone is coming and going at different times, but in the morning when everyone is getting started to head out at relatively the same time it was a lot busier.

Overall the trip was great and the WL is still THE place to be during the holidays. We wouldn't trade if for anything. Already booked for next Decemeber several months ago.:santa:

To all going home for the holidays - enjoy your trip!

First of all, Gatoreye - love your siggy! Class of '95 over here!! Go Gators!

Onto my question...
Wondering if someone can point me in the direction of some updated info about WL Concierge. Specifically, info about the menu offerings in the concierge lounge? Any time changes for lounge offerings? Any updated info would be great (the post on page one with concierge info is from 2004...I'm assuming that things have changed somewhat since then?!)

DH and I decided this morning that our next WDW trip is going to be WL club level, so I am (of course) on a fact/info gathering mission. :yay:

Thanks in advance for the help!!!

This thread was started in 2004...The information on page one in my post is updated every few months. At the bottom of the post you'll see the last update was done on December 11, 2007 so the information is not 3 years old only about 6 days old. The concierge information is very resent, I was just there on the 8th.

Gotcha! :thumbsup2 Thank you for the info! And Congrats to your nephew. :)

What would be the best type of room location to request for a woods view room? I would like to request a room in a quiet area, plus with a nice view. Can anyone recommed something? :goodvibes

We will arrive 1/8 - yippee!

DD is lactose intolerant so we are having Garden Grocer deliver her milk the day of our arrival. How big is the fridge? I'd like to order 4 half gallons (yes she drinks a LOT of milk) plus we'll just use it for dd#2 as well. If the fridge isn't big enough, will they let us store it somewhere else since it is a medical issue?

I'm getting too excited here!

Recent lounge visitors- could you post your room #'s/view? Did you request anything specific from IPO to get a particular view? We're heading there 1/19- bummed that we'll be missing the holiday decorations, but it will still be a great trip!

Thanks in advance!

Can't help with the medical issues. By removing the bottom shelf of the fridge we had room for 1 1/2 gal in the door and at least 2 (maybe 3) in the bottom of the fridge. That doesn't leave a lot of extra room, but it will cover at least most of your milk needs.

If the fridge at the WL is comparable to the size at the AKL, you'll be able to get 6 half-gallon sized bottles on the door and by removing the bottom shelf as mentioned above.

How is Christmas at the Wilderness this year??

I can't wait to convince my DBF (who isn't much of a Disney fan) to take me there for Christmas one year. He claims Disney is overpriced, but I've slowly been convincing him that it's just as expensive (if not cheaper) than some of the other theme parks and resorts.

...we'll see. I'll be spending Christmas with the parents at the POP next year and hopefully will be able to get time to sneak a trip over to see the magic of the holidays at the WL.

we just returned from 8 wonderful days at the Villas... the lodge is absolutely beautiful! we had a 1 bedroom room 5523...we had a wondeful view and could see fireworks from the balconies . I will post some pics when I get them down loaded...gotta finish unpacking first:rolleyes1

Looking forward to the pics! :)

we had an amazing time on our first trip tot he lodge. Only one glitch. We had requested connecting rooms with my parents who had my son in their room with them (we have 3 kids...soon to be 4, I'm due in feb!) When we went to check in, they couldn't give us connecting rooms, they couldn't even give us rooms near each other. WE were ont he same floor, but half way across the lodge from each other. But what they did was have us come back the next morning, after spending one night apart, and get new rooms, they still weren't connecting, but they were across the hall from each other at the end of the north wing, so it worked out well for us.

The place was beautiful, the Christmas decorations were just breath taking. I am sad to be home, but thank goodness for Christmas keeping me busy. Plus I know we will be back, not for a few years, but we will be back. My husband wants to stay at GF next time, but I am going to try to persuade him to stay at the WL again. I just loved it there so much.

I still don't have my pictures uploaded to photobucket, but hopefully I'll get them up after christmas and I'll do a trip report.

Yikes! Your post scares me!! We have 4 kids and have requested 2 connecting rooms at the end of January!! I hope we don't have a problem getting them.

I THINK (but am not totally sure) that it has to do with the grown ups to kids ratio. Maybe PP has too many adults and the room assigning Gods thought it would be OK.

Like I said, I'm not sure but I think I read that somewhere on the DIS. Good luck to you :goodvibes
