ahhhhhh, that's better, now back to our story:
Out of the bushes came two small dragons, they were bigger than hatchlings, but still quite small (for dragons). And the smaller one (the girl dragon) was calling to the other to wait for her. The slightly larger one (the boy dragon) was taunting her to keep up, and teasing her, and calling her 'pokey'. Well, when Pearl and Lovey heard this, they swallowed their surprise, and knew they had to stand up for sisterhood.
"Why are you being so unkind to your little sister?" asked Pearl.
"And why do you let the bushes snap back in her face?" asked Lovey. WELL.....you thought the girls had been surprised at seeing dragons.....the dragons nearly jumped out of their scales!
"Ummmm, welllllll, uhhhhhh" stuttered the brother dragon, scuffing his clawed feet.
"You should be ashamed of yourself" said the girls in unison.
"Oh, no!" interjected the sister dragon. "He's only acting that way because we are lost and so tired and so hungry. We've been traveling for days and days!"
"Goodness!" said Pearl, "come sit down by the river and rest."
"We have plenty to eat in our picnic basket" said Lovey, "We'd be glad to share."
So before you could say, Captain Jack Sparrow, the four of them were relaxing by the river and enjoying chocolate brownies, chocolate milk, chocolate chip muffins. And as they ate the little dragons told the girls their story of how they were searching for family....for they thought maybe they were the only dragons in the world, as they had never seen another of their kind.
"Well, I know there are other dragons" said Lovey.
"Yes" said Pearl. "We've heard stories of them and seen pictures."
"That's right" Lovey interjected "that's how we knew what you were when we saw you!"
"Do you know where the other dragons are?" asked the sister dragon.
"I must take my sister to find the others of our kind" said the brother dragon.
The girls looked at each other for a moment, then they nodded silently.....they had made a decision without even speaking. They would take the dragons across the sea to the Magical Kindgom, where they had heard other dragons lived.
"We'll take you in our boat" said Pearl.
"It's not a long journey" said Lovey, "but there is some possible danger.....pirates, you know."
"I'm not afraid of pirates!" exclaimed the brother dragon. "I'll flame them if they come near!"
His sister giggled, "Silly, you're too young to flame..you'd get a sick stomach if you tried!"
So they set off in the girls' boat, taking a pleasant ride down the river. The girls knew when they made it to the sea things could get a little rougher, but they were good sailors and they weren't worried about rough seas. They weren't worried about pirates either. As a matter of fact, they were each hoping in their secret heart of hearts to run into a very specific pirate!
And so ends chapter one of our story. That's all for tonight as I see some of you are nodding off. We'll have more of our story soon.
Good night, Taglikins.
