Yea. only 2 weeks to go until we check into the Swan. :santa:

>>Sorry to go off topic, but "Downstreet" and "Upstreet" bring back such awesome memories of my summers in St. Albans. (Native Vermonter here.)<<

I lived in Northfield more than 20 years ago. I called Brattleboro in the winter, "The Banana Belt of the state."

I guess "upstreet" means Montreal. ;)

10th Anniversary Trip...12-31 Dec 09 ;)

Checking into the Dolphin tonight!! $60 with Starpoints. Only for one night, but I'm thrilled.

Wow, then you were only a few miles from me if you lived in Northfield! I teach in Williamstown and live in Barre. Small world, isn't it? Have fun at the Swan - we're supposed to get snow tonight 3 - 7 inches! ARGH!

I do miss Vermont. The only time I am there is going up 89 to Montreal. When I drive by exit 5, I do get good memories.

The only other time I am in the state is the Big E...the Vermont building.

any idea on teachers rates for Jan 2010? I checked for rates online, but will call when I get a chance. Just wondering if others had any luck with a good rate. :)

Here now, the place is as nice as always. :cool1: Nice to be back.

have an awesome time Dan....looks like we are booked for the Dolphin in about 2 weeks ( hoping no cancellations this time)....anxious to get there! How are all the Holiday extras at the S/D this year? You know, Santa deemd them his favorite resort!

Dan can you plase post some pics of that gorgeous tree in the lobby this year!?!?

If anyone is playing around on spg & sees March dates open for points plus cash please post. I'm planning a trip & only have enough points for 2 nights free, but if they offer points plus cash we'd be golden!!!

Back at the Swan for a break. HOT today, mid 80's, and storm brewing for tonight, very windy.
Enjoy your "home away from home", Dan! :hippie:
We'll be waiting for more beautiful photographs! :cheer2:
I will have some pictures for sure.

Loks like a lot less decorations this year. I have not been over to the Dolphin yet, but no Christmas tree outside the Swan in the back, as it goes out to the crosswalk and no train/village set up in the back lobby by Il Mulino. Did not notice any red/green lights on the walkway either. Disney seems to have quite a bit less also, only Epcot so far. And the addon to Illuminations, the very long barrage of fireworks at the end, after Walter is finished, seems a lot shorter also. But the resort, as always, is great. And the staff is superb. Everybody is so polite and feels like family.

I will get over there, I do know that tree is there. :cool1:

Anyone have the current override procedure for the thermostat control?

I know what it is for WDW resorts - so not sure if the systems are the same at S/D....but give it a try:

Push "power" and the "down arrow" at the same time to bypass. Screen should read "BP." Must be done every 48 hours.

Thanks for the decorations update Dan...stay warm...or do you need the room cooler? Either way, hope you are comfortable! So happy to hear the staff is as awesome as always, can really make or break a trip. Are you going to the parade taping tomorrow?

Heading out to the park now, thought I would add the AC 'code'. I called engineering to set it.

It is a different system than in the past. You hold the 'Display' button down and while holding down, push the 'on/off' button and then the 'up' button. That will put it on manual operation for 3 days. You can check if it worked since if in auto mode, temp can only be set down to 65, if manual, can go to 60.

When engineering left, they gave me two small boxes of chocolates, for my 'inconvenience' (of which I really had none). Another nice touch by a great resort. :thumbsup2

...I just know I'll be searching for this post in July! LOL I'll never remember this...

We are staying at the Dolphin (we hope for the best) for Easter 2010 - March 31st thru April 10th :goodvibes

I was able to get a teacher rate of $228 (includes resort fees and taxes:thumbsup2) for a resort view standard room.
We are hoping for a bump up to a balcony resort view room since we are repeat guests and Starwood members.

The Dolphin Resort reservation CM said there are a few conventions, which blocked out rooms for their business people, reserving most of the rooms in the Dolphin Easter week.

Do you think we still maybe able to get a room with a balcony ?
Maybe some pixie dust and get a concierge room ?

We do not mind conventions at the Dolphin. The only problems we have had are coming back at night from EPCOT or DHS and going up the escalators right thru convention people drinking party at the bar (off the main lobby by the escalators). It was like walking thru a wall of smoking wild noisey suits :rotfl:

I am just learning about these two resorts and was pricing them on the Disney website. Are the dining plans not offered with these two resorts?

The Swan and Dolphin are Starwood owned- not Disney.
So no DDP offered.

If you have an AAA card, you can get 20% off the Swan & Dolphin owned resturants (not places like Blue Zoo, Shula's Steak house or Il Mulino, which are not owned by Starwood).

You can the 20% AAA discount off your meals (no alcohol) at:
Cabana Bar & Beach Club - Dolphin poolside (same menu as below)
Splash Grill & Deli - Swan poolside (same menu as above)
*** plus ****
Fresh
Dolphin Fountain
Picabu Buffeteria
Garden Grove Cafe

Plenty of places for a quick breakfast, character dinner (Garden Grove), or a nice not so fancy lunch or dinner.

Anyone have 2009 Holiday photos of the Dophing to share. Heading down on the 13th and can hardly wait.:yay:
