I usually stay at WDW solo, so I ended up giving way bottles of water to my friends in April!

Thanks for the slideshow Dan.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who has wondered why the tags are still on the bottles of water. I thought I was overlooking something.

Apparently not everyone is charged the resort fee, so that's probably why there are tags on the water bottles. I read an another thread (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2223618) that the resort fee wasn't included in the OP's convention contract. Therefore, when he made a long distance phone call, he was charged for it. The charge was removed and it was explained to the OP that he mistakenly received a letter saying he would be charged the resort fee.

Oh, thank you. That makes sense. I didn't think about that. There was something I was overlooking. It is mandatory for regular reservations.

Yep - that makes perfect sense, Nancy, as it is such a big "convention" center. Different "deals" etc. As for that other thread - wow. Sour grapes person. lol I don't get the "hidden charges" comment :confused3... everything is spelled out to me! ;)

I happened to make a long distance call this past trip (20 minutes included once a day with $10 resort fee) because my cell was charging. I thought I was careful, but the call came to 23 minutes. I didn't use the phone the rest of our nine days... It appeared on my bill at a very high rate - I called guest services and they removed it IMMEDIATELY - with no problem AT ALL. :thumbsup2 Sometimes I think people LOOK for something to get mad at... :rolleyes1

Michelle - at least you figured it out. :goodvibes Want to call my mother and try to explain it to HER? :lmao:

No way.

I'd probably confuse the heck out of her. ;) You just need to get into her room before her each day and hide the cards from her. That will save you much frustration. Either that or slip the water refill person (what do you call that person since it isn't the Housekeeper?) an extra tip to leave off that card in her room. :rolleyes1

Nope - it's called - NOT GOING ON VACATION WITH HER AGAIN. :lmao:

I've read various complaints about the Swan/Dolphin, but to suggest that others not stay there because of overpriced bread takes the cake! An error was made in regard to the resort fee and the long distance phone charge, but that error was corrected. The poster should've been happy to learn that he wasn't being charged $10.65/day for the resort fee. :confused3

I agree Nancy. A little research before they went and they would have known about the fees anyway and would have been prepared. The staff at the S/D are great and really want to please their guests from my experience.

Do you really think that loaf of bread was $8 ?! I wish I read that before I went down a few weeks ago so I could be a sleuth and find out. :lmao:

BTW - went to the little Boardwalk sundries/grocery shop to buy some more water (Nancy - we could have used your extras :goodvibes) hoping to find warm 6 packs - nope - only single bottles at $2 each... Let's face it - you aren't going to find a bargain on food/beverage anywhere INSIDE Disney!

Regarding the water, I do think (at least up through last time I was there, May '08), that in addition to the two bottles of water that they give you which are included in the resort fee, that there is always another bottle (Evian if I recall), that is somewhat larger, and does have the hang tag telling you that it is like $40 (j/k) if you drink it. I think it was like 4 or 5 bucks.

The gentleman was given a letter about the resort fee at check-in, so he made the long distance call - thinking it was included in the fee. The error was that he wasn't supposed to be charged the resort fee, so instead he was charged $60 for a 20-minute phonecall. That was clearly an error on the part of whoever gave him the letter. However, the phone charge was removed from his bill, and he wasn't charged the resort fee ...or the bread fee! :rotfl2:

That BIG bottle of water used to be $6.95 - if I recall correctly. They must not have gotten many takers, because I think the price is $3.95 now.

Quick!!!! Go check out the price of a loaf of bread at Picabu's.... Report back at 0 -1700 hours... :lmao:
(we'll call you Agent 99.....)

I sent an SOS to my "informant" at the S/D! :teeth: It might be Monday morning before I get a report, however!

In the future, I would walk to the Hess station that's across the street from the Boardwalk for bottled water and other beverages/snacks. I have a DIS friend who used to make regular beer runs to that Hess station!

No sidewalks  - I was going to but between the incredible HEAT and those cars zipping around, I figured - I guess we'll pay $2 a bottle for extra water. LOL
